It has been my experience (4 archery tags + this one) that the rut really doesn't kick in until the first week of September. I am hoping with the 8/11 start that they are still solo. I am trying to fine tune everything, from pushing them to see their escape routes to learning the nuances of the fields they live in. To finding every conceivable indention that may hold water. I am stuck in hades, AKA Scottsdale, for work until the eve of my hunt. I have limited vacation and two tags (elk and antelope), I am hoping to only need one vacation day for me antelope hunt, that's why I am overcompensating with scouting/training. I will spend the next month upping my practice shooting to 5 days a week to get the muscle memory as much in place as possible. suburban from yesterday Flare full sized with his friends

If your are hunting in august off of table mesa red, don't worry about over crowding a half mile in any direction off of a road. You and I may be the only ones crazy enough to be hunting there that time of year. There is always a lot of atv use there.

Watched this guy get his legs and trot off with mom

2013, 2nd to last day of season at last light, I shot a bull with my muzzle loader facing me. Bullet cut the wind pipe, jugular, and many vitals. In my brilliance I did not have a flashlight. Bull died within yards of where I shot it. I backed out finding it at 730am the next morning. Total spoilage. Temperature that night was low to mid twenties. Meat processor, said sometimes it's where there shot and the position they die in can determine if it will spoil

I saw a study on color phase bears. If I remember correctly, one in ten thousand black bears are actually white. That is really cool bear.

If I may offer some advice. Do not over think a stock, clothing, etc. Get the wind right, use the terrain move carefully and stocking becomes easier. I have taken P&Y caliber coues/muleys stocking in work clothes to shorts and a tshirts. good luck

After my original company closed their Arizona operations during the recession, I turned down some great opportunities to start an electrical distribution branch for a lesser company to get my coworkers jobs. After 18 months, millions of dollars in new sales to this company they found me "insubordinate and soliciting" and let me go. I was unemployed for a very long 3 hours.

My 'secret' catfishing spot has been very good to me this year. The last few trips, i have caught a PB 10lber, 2 eights, a seven, and quit several fives and below. I actually stopped fishing because I had enough taco meat. I find it humorous when somebody sees my stringer (from a hotter portion of the state) and says "I didn't know there were catfish in here."

Like a true addict I had to return. I had a couple of hours to kill yesterday and was rewarded with a new PB.14 lbs.. Helluva fight on 6lb test.

Maybe he should shop here!

I had a decent size bird coming in on a string, yesterday, then all of sudden a herd of elk appears a few yards to might right and he changes his mind and goes the other way.

I didn't realize how much ahead of the curve that he really is. I pushed him a little bit to see how he would react, The 18 does with him get in the way, but I did get into range a couple of times.

I have been hitting 3b pretty hard in preparation for my antelope hunt. I have seen literally hundreds of elk and have yet to find an elk antler this year. My experience with the late season hunt. Try in the timber if there is NO snow and in the fields after it snows. There are large resident herds off of penrod rd and behind porter mtn estates. If I knew how to post videos I would show some impressive amount of elk. Last Saturday
