I am hoping some of you can help me with my current issue. I have a win model 70 300 win mag with a vortex viper 6.5 to 20x50 mounted with a weaver extended 20 MOA rail and weaver grand slam rings. I am zeroed at 300 and I only have 20.5 MOA available which gets me out to 950 but not 1000. I thought I would have more adjustment so I need ideas on how to get there????

Not much is compliant in CA. Except gender free bathrooms in the kids schools?????? I keep wondering if the people will wake up and realize the path they are on is destructive for all. Sorry, couldn't help myself. Not sure if free speech is still allowed. lol

That was an awesome adventure. I am guessing you are hooked now! -
All the above advise is spot on. Make it a good time outing and if the opportunity arises let her decide whether she wants to shoot or not. I would emphasize on do not push her too hard physically as this takes the fun out of it. Letting her help make the decisions is also a great idea. My daughter was 10 and drew a cow elk tag and a juniors whitetail tag in 33. We stalked to 60 yards of a cow and she shot her perfectly. She was really excited. We then moved on to her deer hunt. First morning we glassed an 82" 3x3 that we had scouted and she asked if we could find anything bigger. We went on a couple days later to find a 90" buck and she passed on him only to decide later that afternoon that she wanted to go after him but it was too late and he was too far. All the while for days she had just been enjoying watching the deer threw her binos on a tripod. I was wondering that she might be having second thoughts about shooting one so I made it clear to her that I did not care if she shot at all. I just wanted her to have fun and It was her decision. I was just happy being out there with her enjoying the outdoors. That night she asked if we could go back after the buck she passed on the first day. I said of course but told her not to be disappointed if he was not there because often times they can be elusive. We were blessed to find him in the exact same spot and she drilled him at 343 yards (we spent a lot of time at the range). He scored 82 5/8". As for over hiking them, you can see it in their faces. This last spring she killed her first gobbler. We had been covering some serious ground chasing gobbles and I could see it in her face the fun was over. We were almost to the top of a rise and still had a tom going so I told her we would turn back at the top. She was okay with that and we called that bird in to 35 yards and she smoked him. I explained to her that perserverance is often rewarded with special things. My wife and son shared this event with us and the next morning got his turkey. Both birds had over nine inch beards. Talk about a proud father. Good luck and I wish you the best!

Thx I may have to go with a 30 MOA. I will look into those rings. I just looked at the old std height leopold mount and rings and the front base (2 pc) is about 1/8 inch shorter than the rear. I could visually see the weaver rail was shorter in the front so I thought all looked well. Not sure how much height difference it takes to make 20 MOA but wondering now if I have the real 20 MOA rail. Checked the scope and it has 58 MOA full travel. Thx. I wish it were that simple but it only fits one way.

Thank you! I am target shooting and want to challenge myself with as far as I can shoot. This forum was labeled long range shooting. The rail is tapered down toward the barrel and I only have 9.5 MOA adjustment. This should mean that if I did not have a 20MOA rail that I would not have been able to sight in?? Puzzles me To the comment of why 1000, it is on the way to 2000.

Has anyone used this trajectory validation application? I am going to try it but haven't got there yet. Any comments or suggestions?

Letter I just sent to my reps....
105Coues posted a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I just sent this and would like to encourage others to contact there representatives. It is a shame that people do not speak up because they are afraid of our own government.++++++ With all due respect. I would like to have someone to explain to me how anyone with half a brain could use the logic that it was in the best interest of our country to release thousands of illegal criminals back into our society? What a slap in the face to all the real American criminals incarcerated for the same crimes. Now the illegals get better treatment than our own citizens?? And while our government wants to limit arms purchases for law abiding citizens in the name of making people safer, you let criminals out on the street. Making matters worse, with no way of tracking them. Even worse, this is blamed on the sequester all the while we are giving huge amounts of money to terrorist countries. To add insult to injury, I had to show my id to buy allergy medicine but our government wants to grant amnesty to these illegals and sues states for requiring voter id to vote. Ladies and Gentlemen, VOTING IS THE MOST SACRED RIGHT WE AS AMERICANS HAVE!!!!! To allow criminals (people in the country illegally) the most sacred of our rights is disgraceful. To limit law abiding people the means to defend themselves while letting a criminal with an ankle tracking device to roam free to kill and rape a 10 year old girl is disgraceful!!!! And he used a knife i might add. The children of this great country are our most valuable asset we have. They are our future!! How does it make sense to have armed guards at ball games and malls but not at schools? I can't believe I have to say this but you will never get rid of all the crazy people. The logic that anyone can tell you that you cannot have the means to protect yourself and your family is ludicrous. It breaks my heart as an American to see the country being bankrupted, people being divided based on the fact of how much money they have, our children being thrust into an unrecoverable debt crisis, criminals being catered to while law abiding citizens are persecuted, DHS buying 2700 domestic assault vehicles and tons of rifles and ammunition, and now the majority of citizens are afraid to even voice their opinions to our corrupt government because of the fear of retaliation. It should not be that way! Remember that all of you are sworn to uphold the Constitution and that you work for the people. I plead with all of you to read our Constitution as it is and apply a 2 part litmus test to future legislation. The first question should always be: Does it violate the Constitution? The second is a common sense test? Neither of these seem to be used now. I am not trying to be insulting, just objectively looking at where we have been, where we are, and where it looks like we are going. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.
