Sweet pursuit footage! What camera did you film with? Very good quality. Nice cat and crazy hole hunter. Well done!

What do you think he would weigh?

I think about 170 pounds. Beautiful color though. -
+1 Totally in agreement. What do you think? Any more pictures of that bear?

Big Browns Offical Bear Story (Long story)
kidso replied to Big Browns's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Thanks for allowing me to keep that "dubious award" for now, but I'm sure someone will claim it during the upcoming fall season! Seriously though, once you have hand-called a bear and experienced that rush, it is tough to return to other modes of hunting bear. I trust you are now becoming a true believer in calling bears and your confidence will increase the longer you call over time. I'm extremely happy for your success and hope you can repeat it next year! Congratulations again! -
My first bear was taken using the exact gun and load you are inquiring about, so it is not too much.

Just wondering if anyone has tagged a 2013 bear on one of the spring archery tags? I have not heard of any stories yet. Lots of trail cam pictures and a lot of people hitting the field, but no reports of tagged bears on CWT. Hope to change that this week... Good luck to all the archery bear hunters who are still at it this season with only about one month left.

Adam, you need to lay down on the ground, spoon up to your sow, and SMILE!

Anyone Tagged a 2013 Spring Archery Bear?
kidso replied to kidso's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Received a text from Big Browns. He hand-called in and tagged his first archery Arizona bear! Big congratulations. I look forward to pictures and a story!! Way to go Adam! -
Time to predator call! Lion rugs are neat.

I want to thank everyone for all the positive comments they posted. In addition, I think it is only fitting to also compliment our own Game & Fish Agency in a day and age where it is so commonplace to bash them. They do make mistakes, like all of us, but sometimes they do things that increase you opinions and respect for them. Case in point; I was heading back into the valley with my bear, and Big Brown's called ahead and asked the Mesa office if they would remain open for me to check my bear in sometime between 5 and 5:30 pm after they had technically closed. I was a nobody, yet they said they would wait for me behind locked doors until 5:30. They surely did not have to do that. The agent who checked my sow was very friendly and showed no negative attitude whatsoever for having to stay late at work until 5:40 pm to deal with me. He was very professional, and provided the best treatment that I have ever received when checking in an animal with them (I have checked in six animals). I repeatedly thanked him for waiting for me, and he responded that it was no problem at all. What a refreshing, favorable, and definitely unexpected experience from our Game & Fish!

Is that the same water hole that is in your bear pictures?
-
The cinnamon bear is sweet, and that night photo is a shaggy beast! What a rug that would make! Those pictures are almost a month old now. Does that hole still have water in it? If it does, you are in business.

...especially if you shoot it across a steep, rugged canyon that takes you several hours to navigate across!

The great white bear of the north! Talked to a hunter once who knew about a white bear near Bushnell Tanks years ago. He glassed it up several times in the same area over a two month period...then he never saw it again. Imagine hunting polar bears or being hunted by them. You should squeel on a predator call just for fun on one of your breaks...

How many yards away was the bear? What unit is that monster bull in? 23N?

Alaska, the last great frontier. I dream of one day hunting bears and fishing halibut over there while watching eagles soar.
-
Love the last shot with the two cinnamon bears. I'll bet that one of them is a boar and the other is a sow. They are too similar in size to be a sow and her cub. Any more pictures with the two together?

Nice little spot there. I have had elk and deer lick the trail cameras I have set up, but never have I had a bear attack one of my cams.

Tanned elk hides, tanned fox hide, Badlands Archery Backpack

Show us the fox pelt. -
I used an Ameristep last year on my late bull hunt and felt that I was crowded in it. I bought a Big Mike's blind for this year's late bull hunt. It is 80 inches in height, so you can draw your bow back while standing. At least that is what they advertise.

I used a couple of lag bolts to secure the lock box to a wooden support. I forgot to pack a hammer on this trip, but always keep a hatchet under my front seat. I've kept a hatchet there ever since watching the movie Uncle Buck. So I used the hatchet to help get the bolts started. As for the blonde bear, it likely went into a massive canyon that is several miles long containing dozens of finger canyons. Sadly, I will probably never see that bear again. However, it burned a beautiful image into my memory.

The cinnamon bear in your second set looks a lot like the same bear that visited your spot last summer.
-
I would take any of them. The smallest looks like the last one leaning against the tree. The 1st and 4th bears may be the same bear.
