    need to sell some stuff

Howdy folks. Hit a little snag and have a few things that need to find new homes. 2003 Hoyt Hyper-tech, 70lb 28.5"draw comes fully loaded, sight pins out to 110 yards on a Sonoran site, Drop away rest, 6 arrow quiver, and about all the limb saver stuff you can add. Shoots quiet and fast. New strings cables and a super tune this year. Less than 300 arrows on the new strings. Pushing my 426grain arrows at 286fps last time I chronoed it. at cost over $1500 for everything on it( almost $500 in the sight alone) asking $500. 2002-03 ( I dont remember which) Martin left handed. Will draw 26-29" adjustable, and pulls 55-75lbs. Has everything but a quiver. brand new lighted sight, Drop away rest, all the limbsaver stuff, also new strings and cables and a super-tune this year. Asking $250 Carbon Impact arrows, I have several sizes but the majority of them are 6500's. I have several dozen. They dont make these anymore, they are the small diameter carbons with the outserts. I have about 2 dozen that are newly fletched and ready to go, and about 2-3 dozen more that need to have the outserts cut off and replaced. I have about a dozen new outserts. the fletched and ready to shoot, I will take $30 a dozen and the others I will take say $40 for the whole batch including the new outserts. I also have a few other rests, and other odds and ends. I will post a list as soon as I get it made up. PM me here or mail me at coueshunter84@hotmail.com Thanks Shane

    Recurve help

When tuning the recurve my daughter shot with, I got lucky and just playing with the head weight was all I needed. But what an eyeopener to figure out how to tune a stick bow. Took me a long time and several trips to various websites to get it accomplished. good luck.

    Rage 2 Blade broadhead

I have never used either but would not mind trying them. Just curious what the actual difference between them is other then price? They look way similar in about every aspect other then the blades having different cuts in them. Anyone played with the 2 together?

    broadheads you guys are shooting?

I like the whatever works idea. I shoot about anything 100 gr. I can get to fly straight. Right now Rocket ultimate steels. Sonoran 2 and 3 blade, Shuttle T-locs, wac-ems, Muzzy 3 and 4 blade, judos, blunts, and the nonfancy field points that fit my easton axis arrows. Soemone above mentioned losing blades on the Rockets. If its the ultimate steels that you are losing blade off of. The trick is to put a pair of pliers to them. Put something between the shaft and the pliers, and use a big broad head wrench. You have to put some torque on them to get the blades to stay put. Took me a while to figure that one out. A bit of loc-tite on the threads prior to this dosent hurt either. I havent lost a blade since I started doing this.

    Does Anyone's Bow Go Crazy?

    Does Anyone's Bow Go Crazy?

There are several hundred things that can cause what happened to you. The one thing I usually find when the same thing happens to me is a change in the grip. It only takes a little torque to throw arrows that far off. Especially if your brace height is less then 7". About once or twice a year I will go out and shoot a group thats several inches off the mark. And its usually my grip that ends up being the factor. Other then that, a soft case can allow things to catch on the rest or the sight. Both of which are main contributers to delemas like yours. ALso follow the strings and cables all the way around the bow, Make sure your have no burrs on the cams, and there is nothing stuck in the cams under the strings. And just to make sure your newly moved sight is still plumb, try shooting a broad head through the set up, and see if it still shoots straight. Nothing like blades to see if its planeing or not. As for strings, I change mine out every year. And now is the time. Especially if you still have the factory strings on the bow. Strings from the factory are made to be stretchy so if they are dry fired before they are purchased they dont blow up as easy. ( another reason I will not purchase a bow anywhere except a shop.) That being said, during the "down time" which is right now. The shops will not be as busy as they are right before the seasons. Which is when everyone remembers they need to get new ones, and the shops fill up with bows. I would get it done now, and not have to worry about it later. And right now you will definately have it all broke in by the seasons. And as stated above the fellow at Shooters Edge it Tucson makes some of the best custom strings and cables around. Good luck,

what does your trophy room contain?

To get those to stay on the wall just long enough to snap a pic. I would use a good staple gun and some duct tape. But you better be quick, and get it done before mom gets home. LOL..

    archery elk

The Magnus heads are quite inexpensive compared to most other heads out there. If you have the chance pick up a pack, and put a tape measure on the targets after the shots. See which heads give you the most penetration. it might only be a slim amount but I bet the 2 blade will be the winner. Something else to concider. And with the season being a while off, you will have time to play with the set-ups to find the one that works the best. I would be willing to bet there are a bunch of folks on here who will either donate equipment for you to test, or pick up the extras after you get done playing with them. I have a bunch of Magnus 100 grain heads. PM me if you want a couple to try out, I have a whole bunch of stuff left over from my experiments.

    archery elk

One other thing I have found with the light set ups. Its more cost effective ke wise to trade speed for weight. You might go with a heavier set of arrows, Maybe put 125 grains on the tip. You will lose some speed but the impact will get a little more penetration. BUt again with anything else shot placement is key. And with the kill zone of a big ole bull. I bet she will do just fine.

    archery elk

Quite the interesting "fix" your in.. Congrats!!! Been there and done that. And its not a "fix" at all. If shes a good shot then her set up should do just fine. Only thing you have to add is a very very very sharp broadhead. If she can add a few lbs. thats great but dont let her overdo it. I have had several folks in the medical profession tell me not to let them strain themselves. could cause lasting cartlidge and joint problems. So up the poundage slowly. My 13 year old shoots a 42# recurve. Her arrows are alot heavier, but probably the same KE as hers is running about 150 fps. We have magnus 100 grain 2 blade heads for her set up. My wife shoots a bow tec stalker lite. Pulling 44 lbs. Shooting the same gold tips listed above. Added some steel force titanium heads and her set up has taken 2 javalina with pass throughs, one at 31 yards. If shes shooting well then she should be fine. Just work on shot placement. Up the poundage slowly enough that she can still draw without straining, and go from there. Then put some pics on here when shes done. LOL.

    mexican grey wolf talks

Here is some more goodies for thinkers. I believe there are some Mexican grey at the Desert museum, and I dont think they look much like the ones released. ALso seen a spot the other day ( I dont remember where maybe National Geographic) concerning the wolves released in Yellowstone. They have now found a way to "tie" the reintro to the stability of native song birds. This is how they explained it. The wolves keep the ungulates "on thier toes" meaning they dotn stick around on stream banks and eat all the ground cover there cause they are worried about getting eaten by staying there to long. Which allows the grasses to flourish, which keeps down erosion, and allows stands of some native trees ( aspen) to grow to maturity. thus stabilizing the "very fragile" stream bank ecosystems. And allowing the song birds places to nest. etc etc. I dont know about the rest of ya but I dont like that little red dot dancing around on my hunting license. Cause I can see the PETA folks on the other side.

    Light Poundage setups???

My wife shoots a Bowtec Stalker lite. She pulls about 50 lbs. I CHose 2 blade heads beacuse of the light arrows 278gr total. She chose the Steel Force Titaniums 85gr. beacuse they matched the color of her bow. LOL.. They have a blue tint to them. The bow has taken 2 javalina now. Both complete pass threws. one at 30 yards.

    Which Cards Have Been Charged

I applied about 3 days prior to the deadline, My card got hit last Thursday.
  25. coueshunter84

C/W member says his card got hit

As much fun as I was having deciding on what to do with an extra set of tags. They went and refunded my card with the second set. So looks like I will only have one elk and one antelope tag instead of 2 each. The folks at the bank got a liitle irate with me after I asked them for the 4th or 5th time to make sure just the one set got refunded and not both. LOL... So there should be another archery bull tag and another archery goat tag on the list to get picked up.
