I gave up Ben Avery years ago when one of the "Rangemasters" chewed my butt for flipping a quarter in my hat laying on the bench as I walked back from putting up the target, it was so I could adjust my scope when the range went hot. Now I'll drive an hour out in the desert, do my shooting and sit on my tailgate drinking an ice cold beer while I wipe down my guns and pull Boresnakes through them, they frown on that at Ben Avery too......go figure.....

I've sealed up soup, stew & chili with them. After you put it in fold up a paper towel an 1" to 1.5" wide and place at the top, hit the vacuum button and when you see the liquid hit the paper towel press the seal button. Works great for a hot meal on a cold day, throw one in my pack along with a canteen cup, build a fire and have a little hot chili while you are glassing. Another tasty glassing treat is onion soup with minute rice & jerky, some of the Bear Mtn dried soup mixes (potato with a can of oysters makes a good lunch) and I just bought a couple gallon cans of Mtn House, will seal those up, just need enough for a canteen cup full and cheaper than the individual bags.

the bags are the most expensive part of the deal, I cut mine long, write what it is on the flap above the seal since that is the part that is cut off, then just wash and reuse.

some cousins in Wy lost 2 800 lb calves to wolves a couple months ago, just killed them, no feeding, didn't have any of the pro-wolf factions offering to pay for their calves. At least Wy finally gets to manage wolves without the Feds dictating to them.

if they started wrapping the bodies of terrorists in pig skins and burying them it might change a few minds, pigs are unclean and will keep them from Heaven.

this will only effect those of us that honor it, remember a few years back a guy got a ticket for starting a campfire, his tinder was the "No Campfire" sign that was posted.

General Purpose/ Back up Rifle

since you're not in a hurry start hitting pawn shops, you can get good deals if you take your time and do a little haggling, figure the shop has half of whatever the sticker price is into the gun, and the longer it is there the more willing they are to get it gone. -
I'll stick with my M77 .220swift I picked up in 78, believe it was made in 71. I traded a hard starting Husquvarna chainsaw for the gun, dies, 1 box of bullets, a pair of Carhart coveralls and 1 pr of leather gloves. Pretty good trade, I hated that chainsaw, took longer to start it than it did to cut wood.

ran into a guy there by Bushy Knoll in 05 that was trying to figure out where he had lunch, seems he left his Swaro's & GPS sitting there side by side, no idea if he ever found them

not sure why everyone ignores Leupold, they've had a lifetime warranty for many years on good products that are made here in the USA.

I'm sure you've walked by many sites like this Amanda, bedrock on a flat bench above the water source. There's a couple sites like that in canyons west of Phx.

nice pistols, I have a STI in 40sw. For those not familiar with 2011's they are basically 1911 platforms with a polymer grip that gives room for a double stack magazine, my 40 holds 13. STI made their name building custom competition pistols.

yes, I have a Rem Mod 724 in .244rem in the safe, sales were discontinued for a while and the twist corrected then came out again as 6mm Rem. The .264winmag got pushed aside when Rem came out with the 7mm, it could launch heavier bullets for bigger game, I believe 140 gr was largest for the 264 and 175 for the 7mm.

my hunting partner has his 6.5x284 dialed in with 143 eldx's, not sure what his groups are but he can break clays at 800+ yds with it. I'll see if he'll get on here and share his load.

if you want speed & high bc bullets go to a 60+ yr old cartridge, .264winmag

Rambo, for years I used a little Krups counter top grinder, still do for small batches. It works fine and I think I paid $100 for it. It was when I got a bull elk and both daughters got cows one year that I upgraded or would have had a week into grinding, do 12 to 15 lbs then let my grinder cool off. My recommendation is if you are going to start doing your own then get a 1/2 hp grinder, it is big enough to process game but not so big it is cumbersome to use. Also pick up Bruce Aidell's Complete Sausage Book, it has about 60 recipes for 2 to 5 lb batches, I've made about 30 of them and they are all good. And for jerky I like a simple 3 to 1 brown sugar/kosher salt brine, marinate 24 hrs and smoke or dry in the oven. You can add pepper flakes, onion or garlic powder, or other flavors to the meat just before smoking/baking. Processing your own game is pretty easy, a flexible bladed boning knife, stiff bladed boning knife and 10" butcher knife are all you need.

I have a 1.5 hp Cabela's I'd sell. Since my daughters moved out not putting up several animals every year so don't need one this big. Make an offer, worst that happens is I say no. It will spit out meat faster than you can feed it, my only complaint is it weighs 75 lbs, I only drag it out if I'm grinding 20 or more lbs, smaller batches I use my countertop grinder.

contact Vortex and they will send you the lens covers, probably for free.

I have my GGrandfather's lever action Winchester with a braised tang where a horse fell with him and broke the stock. He braised it back together, made a stock and used it for a bunch more years, has old cloth electrical tape wrapped around the fix.

a couple of the widows went to NM for the filming of the movie, I worked with them quite a bit so curious to see how they will be portrayed in the movie

my cousins woke up to 2 dead 650 lb calves yesterday in Wy, just pulled their guts out and killed them, didn't eat anything

the best headlight is the one you always have on you, I have several of them but a couple of times I ended up on the side of a hill in the dark without one in my pack, but I always have this in my pocket, clips on to my hat brim, takes a single AA and provides plenty of light for humping off a hill in slap dark http://ads.midwayusa.com/product/225626/gerber-infinity-ultra-task-flashlight-led-with-1-aa-battery-aluminum-black?cm_mmc=pf_ci_google-_-Self-Defense+-+Lights+-+Flashlights-_-Gerber-_-225626&gclid=CM75naSb4dECFQx9fgodkZ0Crw

some folks sent them in and had the transfer bar put on, the company would send back the original parts so you could put it back to stock if you wanted
