current dove or quial season?
azslim replied to More D's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
7mm's are kinda hard on birds, may want to borrow him a shotgun....... -
Never pass up on the first day what you would gladly shoot on the last........ Glad you got to hunt with your Dad.

That was the skull of a buck that kicked his butt last year. He picked it up and said "you ain't so tough now are you.....".

roll-away took boxes work great, put your loot in the drawers so it's handy

Hit a Home Depot and you may be able to hire someone to pack it for a few dollars a day....... Or get a backpack that you can strap it to - then put the backpack on the hired man........

I like the spray lube, put my brass in the top of a shoe box, give it a squirt then roll it and squirt again, run my fingers over it to make sure it is covered before I put it in the die. I FL resize for my semi-auto's, NS for bolts until 3rd or 4th loading, then it is FL. I measure every 5th charge for handguns and trickle every load for rifle. Hand primers are the way to go, you can feel if the pockets are wearing out. When in doubt crush a case with pliers rather than take a chance. How hot you make the loads will determine brass life. And the most important thing - absolutely no distractions when you are filling and capping the cases.

I can't answer that Bill, I can just relate to the problems that result in ranchers closing off access. Altho some are just turds about it some have legitimate issues with the public tearing stuff up and stealing. I know several here in Az that have had generators and pump jacks stolen off wells, it would only take once or twice before you throw your hands in the air and lock everybody out. Just like the lady on the east end of Arivaipa Canyon, she had all her gas siphoned on several occasions, didn't leave her enough to make the 50 miles to the closest gas station. What would you do? Last I heard she locked the gate so folks couldn't get through and hasn't lost gas since. Patience wears thin after a while. Too bad we can't tattoo the foreheads of turds that screw it up for the rest of us, that way they would be easy to recognize. I'm gonna get a sore crotch on this one straddling the fence - both sides have legitimate issues.

The Forest Service is a
azslim replied to coues7's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I will second that opinion. I don't bend over and scratch line with the hand crews, but I have been to a couple wildland fires in the last few years. -
I have nothing but good things to say about my dealings with Vortex, have a couple of their products and I am real happy with them.
-
I see both sides of the issue - as a hunter I want to get to public ground but coming from a land owning family in Wy why to you want to let in people that are going to shoot holes in your tanks, tear up fence and leave mounds of trash on the property. Unfortunately more and more of society think it is someone else's job to clean up their trash and if they have a gun anything that will hold still is fair game. And there is no need to expand on the damage done to the country side by pinheads too lazy to walk 10 ft from their OHV's. You want access, try offering to fix a few miles of fence, stack some hay or help out with branding - it may bring good results.

I got covers for bino's within 3 days. Also, go to the Outdoorsman and they can probably help you out since they sell Vortex. Bet Vortex would tell them to give you one out of stock and they will replace it for the store.

Locks are for keeping honest people honest, a thief will get your stuff no matter how secure.

I have got to watch jets and choppers a few times in the desert west of Phx flying in formations, dropping flares and buzzing the desert floor. Back the the war(s) first started there would be an offensive not long after the maneuvers.

Is tihs a Big Black Bear?
azslim replied to Santana Outdoors's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
If the ears are on the side of the head so they look like Alfred E. Newman they are older - and generally bigger. Then again I'm no bear hunter, they pretty much have to try and rob my cooler to get shot by me. -
There is a camp in the desert that has been doing pretty good in 41, 42 & 44a. They have a 165 4x, 175 4x and 28" wide & tall 3x so far and still have a few days to hunt with 3 more tags to fill. A 32 to 35" wide 4 or 5x was missed opening morning, so he is still out there boys. He is in one of those 40 number units. Don't hold your breath waiting for pics from me, I'm pretty slow in that dept. When the guys get all done I'm sure they will post some. Had to come to town and get a new tire and do a little rig maintenance. Will be heading back out tomorrow to help fill the remaining tags. I scouted one of those units for a week prior to the hunt, covered many miles & coyote camped and was into deer every day. Have a few bucks pigeon holed for next year, or maybe take a run at them this year with my bow. Don't you hate it when people post stuff like this and really don't tell you a darn
-
I have a pic or three but I'm too stupid to post them on here, maybe one of the guys I sent em to will help.

Yep RR, but them boys in Alaska are hard on the country with their quads - some of it is tore up like the bottom of the Hassayampa......
-
No big deal Terry......ethics are a big part of hunting and each person decides what his or hers are. I'm home now. My rig broke, Bruce got me out of a bind, now time to do some mechanicing.

School me on socks, liners, insoles, wax, etc..
azslim replied to AZ RANGER's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I have to turn the liners inside out or the seam for the toes wears a blister. I have to pull the top of the outside sock down over the neck of my boot or they slide down and wrinkle on the bottom because the liners are so slick. If you feel a hot spot starting sit down and fix it now, 30 mins from now it could be a blister. I pop my blisters at night and let them dry out, use fingernail clippers and make a big hole. I hit my feet with hand sanitizer every night, takes the stink out and helps dry out a fresh popped blister. Put moleskin on in the morning not at night when the walking is done. 2nd Skin is wonderful stuff for blisters, cut your piece, pull the blue backing off and stick over the blister, cover with the thin moleskin they provide - sometimes the regular stuff is too thick. When you break for lunch pull your boots and hang your socks in a tree to dry, your feet are a lot happier when you put them back on - the liners dry in a couple minutes. I will forward a thing on blister care to Amanda, maybe she can post it here - I'm too stupid. -
I haven't used them but am glad they came out with 50mm front. I am sure it was already in the works but I emailed them a while back saying I like 8 or 10 power around my neck and 15+ for mounting on a tripod and if they increased the front objective from 42 to 50 this would be a great pair because it would do both. I would like to see them, if I didn't have a high $ pair already I would give them a go.

You look very stylish in baby blue........ A buddy that was in Afganistan sent me the scarf, it is green & black and I look darling in it.........
