so much better with a white background - once I hit 49 the eyes just don't work like they used to.

Yea, what he said.........it all makes perfect sense to me now.

closest I am aware of are on Saddle Mtn, some farther west in the Bighorns too - lions are being real hard on that herd.

I put on a 40 to 50 lb pack and do 3 miles at a fast pace every morning, shoot for 40 minutes or less. Have to be able to pass a pack test every year to work wildland fires, test is 45 lbs, 3 miles, 45 mins or less. This keeps me in shape for hunting season. Diet is pretty much wild game and fresh vegetables with an occasional fat pill thrown in (cookie, cakes, chocolate, etc)

he can apply for a hunt, has to complete the course before the hunt and carry the card in his pocket while on the hunt, hope that helps

keyboard commando - hardly worth the effort to ignore

dead rabbit in a cage trap since leg holds are illegal on public ground....... long time back I used to use a cliff-lok snare and cat-nip along the trails.

The Outdoorsman makes a bracket for mounting 2 spotters side by side - pretty pricey. Per someone that has used it makes the tripod prone to tip over due to weight and makes you cuss with a pistol grip, again weight. Per a rumor Vortex is looking to design something similar for their spotters too - wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

I have a Rancho Safari ghillie suit and a 4'x12' strip of camo burlap, this lets me build a blind pretty much anywhere - clip out some branches under a tree, dig a flat spot for my stool and string the burlap in front of me. The chair is the heaviest item. Nice thing about it is when I leave no one can tell I am hunting there, have lost a few spots because I built a blind out of brush and trees. I also wear Scent-Lok when I am sitting water. I know people say it is BS, oh well it works for me.

Now is a good time to scout for next year. You will be able to see what survived the hunts and there are not near as many people out. The big boys will be by themselves and grazing through to day to make up the calories lost chasing girl deer, plus there may be a doe or two that wasn't bred. I saw a couple bucks still chasing does on the 28th & 30th. And get high as in climb hills, won't do any good to smoke a left-handed cigarette and try and glass in the creosote - can't see vary far........but you are closer to the cookies in the truck.......

Nice attempt but I don't see it happening since G&F has got a taste of how much money they can get for racks. Takes a lot of funds to pay for all the overhead that has nothing to do with game management.

nice buck, and the other is either a fox or coati......

Need more brush behind the blinds so the sun doesn't spotlight your movements. I haven't bowhunted coues but have made about every mistake that can be made sitting water for desert mule deer. I try to set up at least 40 yds from water and build the blind or make my spot under a tree 2 to 3 weeks before I sit it, otherwise it is an ugly coffee table. Ugly Coffee Table - you go out for the day and while you are gone someone comes into your living room and adds an ugly coffee table - you notice it right away when you come home. Same thing for deer with a new blind on water, the closer you build it the uglier it is to them.

Shoot the 20 yds in the backyard and when you start busting nocks you start shooting each arrow at it's own spot. A couple times a month take your burley out to the desert and set up longer ranges and different shooting scenario's - uphill, downhill, etc. Practice with the same arrows you are go to hunt with, for me it is Gold Tip XT Hunters.

I've had the pleasure (yea, right) of butchering a couple hundred chickens in a day. Had a big tub of boiling water, actually it was a 55 gal drum cut in half with a propane torch under it. It would be - off with their head, dunk them in boiling water by the feet for a minute or two, pull feathers as much as you could then burn the pin feathers off with a torch, then gut them. Did this 3 different summers, sure was glad when Ben and Ester got rid of the chickens.

I usually make steak sandwiches out of the TL's, flour, s&p and fry - makes for 2 good sandwiches. I turn the backstraps into green chile and make the rest into sausage of some type.

Since there is no price I'll open the bidding at $100............

Night Hunting Varmits in AZ
azslim replied to Diamondbackaz's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
will lead to lots of shooting out of a rig, people driving roads and looking for eyes - too easy to poke the gun out the window and let her fly - and uneducated killing deer by accident..... -
No need for a gun that kills on both ends here in Az, get one you can shoot a lot, put out the money for a tactical scope, a RCBS Rock Chucker kit, couple hundred pieces of brass, primers, powder, bullets and start to practicing. Trigger time is what you need for long distance shooting, and if you have to grit your teeth before you touch off a round you aren't going to want to shoot much.

Pretty tough to round up but I found a 30-06 and 300wm BAR at pawn shops here in the valley, turned friends on to them. They were all set up with decent scopes and the guys paid a lot less for theirs than I did for mine. If you see a pawn shop just pull over and look, takes about 5 mins - and you don't have to pay the sticker price, they are willing to dicker if you have cash in your pocket.

If I see a fresh cow pie or pile of deer or elk droppings I walk in it to get a little cover scent on the boots

Biscuits and gravy is a staple at our house, except I like OE eggs, the yolk mixed in with the gravy tastes great.
