Thanks Amanda, you did a great job organizing the camp, the chow was top notch and I met some really nice folks. I look forward to the next one, hopefully I'll be able to help out again.

and since he didn't have tweezers I heard he used his teeth!

It used to be that about 10% of the population hunted and 10% was adamantly opposed to hunting. Nowadays it is only about 7-8% that hunts and the anti crowd is growing. And concerning tag numbers, when G&F did their surveys a few years ago the overwhelming response was people wanted quantity over quality, meaning more tags so they could get in the field, the end result is the situation we find ourselves in today. There is no action G&F can take that would make everyone happy, so for now let the quantity folks hit the field in droves and let the quality crowd hunt smarter (and farther from roads) and the middle ground folks will be happy with a campfire under the stars and good friends to bs with around the fire.

I make that quite a bit, and make the gravy out of the meat drippings in the pan, brown a little flour in the juice/grease then pour in milk and bring to a boil - yum, yum. Plus I like mashed potato's with lumps, thems real taters there.....

I have to agree with Mr. Quimby here, I would be making a serious run at them little dwarf deer. That is a great buck and was a lot easier to pack to the truck, and if the truck was too far you could sit down, light a fire and eat him up. I tend to lean towards non-typical game when given the chance.

nice buck if you are on the youtube page check out the whitetail vs mule deer video - if the little one doesn't bring a smile there may be something wrong with you.

start hitting pawnshops, if you find one you like come back a week later with a bore light and check out the bore, haggle on the price, you should never pay what the sticker says in a pawnshop.

pertaining to how deer react from long range shots - rifle or bow - which scares you worse, someone whispering BOO in your ear from 3 feet away you didn't know was there or someone a long ways off yelling BOO.

When we cover ethics in our Hunter Ed classes is tell kids there is an easy way to decide if something is ethical or not - would you be proud to tell your Grandmother the story, if not you probably shouldn't do it.

lots of folks own guns, that doesn't make them hunters

I like 8's around my neck, 15's on a tripod with a pistol grip and a good quality spotter for the few times I need to check something out. I have a cheap fleece blanket and/or old throw pillow to sit, I put a scarf over my head to block sun or wind. When you buy glass hold out for lifetime warranty grades, stuff happens. I need a different tripod, mine is not tall enough for me to stand and glass with.

we had one in Wy that would trade horse turds for horse cubes if you left a couple out......I think he thought it was a very good trade.

Ilene, that one joke wasn't at your expense, it was so if someone asks you "Ilene who" you have a ready answer for them.

haven't looked into it to find out the particulars so this may be BS. Heard you can't use a gun in the wildlife refuge by Havasu, archery only and have to have a valid tag for other big game in your pocket so you can't just go anytime you feel like it. Same for BANWR down by the border, I know 'tag for other big game' is valid info for the BANWR. There are wild hogs by Chevlon Canyon, San Manuel, Cordes Jct and Havasu.

they honor their warranty claims Kaibabs are great love my Razor HD straight barrel, will find stuff a lot farther than I want to walk

no fair teasing, you have to share the funny story........
-
jaguars and ocelots......time to kick all the nasty hunters out of that country..........
-
no problem Amanda, I will bring some crackers and cheese to go with my whine tomorrow......
-
good for you!!! lots of folks eat their first tag, or first 5 tags.....3 in a day is a great outing.

didn't take long for that to come out. Let's make a new law to impact law-abiding folks, criminals will continue to do as they please. I have come to the conclusion is is how you die that counts. The day after the Tucson shootings there were 10 people that died in a crash on the Pacific Coast Hiway and multiple folks injured. The only thing you saw about that was a short line on CNN under the commentator, and only for a few hours. Never saw anything about it on other channels either. If the pinhead shooter had run a monster truck into the crowd I wonder if there would be a push to eliminate big trucks. Just me getting cynical in my old age.......

as far as I am concerned "change is good" only counts for underwear and socks........

I have a Rem Mod 724 in the safe in .244rem that has been the rifle for a lot of kills for kids and women. While Rem hasn't made it in years I have seen them for sale at gun shows and occasionally in a pawn shop. Another is the Rem Mod 600 Mohawk, never shot it, ran into folks in the field with them that liked them and they fit kids. An alternative is to look at some of the single shots available, come in kids sizes and you can buy barrels to give them a shotgun and muzzle loader option to boot.
