TJ, don't hold your breath waiting for pictures from me, you're liable to smothercate. Chef, the front qtrs of game goes to grind, burger and sausage, and lots of times the 3cord roast (tri-tip?) from the hindqtrs get ground up too.

I bought painters drop cloths from Home Depot for my tents, throw them in the washing machine when they get dirty and a lot cheaper than the flooring Cabela's sells for their tents, plus sturdier from what I can tell. I use a 10x10 in my 12x12 Outback Lodge and a 12x14 in my Bighorn. It doesn't need to go edge to edge, just cover the center where the foot traffic is.

My Dad always called it a bean shooter also. He made my first one with strips from a red rubber inner tube for a Model A and a mule deer antler. He was pretty good with a 'bean shooter' too.

I haven't tried those, I am partial to Slick Tricks, very accurate and shoot just like my field points.

I have Vipers, non hd, that I like. They are my backups/loaners. Good glass, I've found a lot of game with them.

my wife like .357's, she has a couple of Ruger's, a Speed Six for the house and a GP100 to practice with. She had the Speed Six before we got married, I bought the GP100, she liked it and took it from me. I ain't gonna mess with her, she has guns!

You have to aim low, depending on the depth and angle you are seeing them from, just under the belly to a couple inches below the belly. The water refracts the actual position. I haven't tried with a compound, used to bow fish a lot in Wy with a recurve. When the carp are spawning you can have a busy day.

get yourself at least a 120 qt cooler, saw a 150 at Walmart today, freeze up a case of 16 oz water bottles and use these in place of ice, put down a layer, stack in the meat, will have to debone it, stick extra bottles wherever they will fit. This cools them meat down but doesn't leave it soaking in water. If you have to use ice open the drain on the cooler - not good in SUV's. Pillow cases from yard sales make great game bags, usually at about 25 cents each, then wash em up or throw em away and send the wife yard saling again.

Does top of the line Optics = more deer found?

so what kind of beer should I bring with me other than cold?

Not a bad idea to save them as backup's and loaners either, that's why I kept my Viper 15's. I know a few people that had accidents on a hunt and knocked their bino's out of kilter, made for short hunts. And I help people on their hunts that don't have decent glass so I set them up too.

I hated the Ripcord and took it off my Vectrix. The rest smacked down hard on the shelf, was the loudest noise on the bow and would knock itself out of whack. Switched to the FC Trophy Taker and never looked back.

Not a Coues buck

In some Native American cultures it is the messenger for your prayers -
It is the responsibility of the hunter(s) to know the open/close dates of the units they are hunting, same for unit borders. We cover this in our Hunter Ed classes - so&so said this was unit x and the hunt goes until this day, unfortunately so&so won't get the ticket so it is up to you to check out valid dates & borders. I've heard of people getting tickets for road hunting driving around with their releases on and bow staged next to them for a quick exit.

Looks wonderful, all except the wine, for some of us there is no such thing as good wine....... Thanks for the tip on letting sit 10 minutes before slicing, I will have to start doing that

Truer words were never spoken Lark, there is a pretty good contingent of senor FS, BLM, etc that are anti-hunting, anti-livestock, super conservationists that are getting mgmt positions. They will have a bigger impact than a few ranchers closing off their ground.

I see both sides of the issue, as a hunter I hate honoring No Trespassing signs when you see game in the private ground, from growing up on a ranch I hated all the extra work and money spent cleaning up the mess of a few pinheads. At the family ranch in Wy if there wasn't a No Trespassing sign people didn't even bother to stop. A few days before antelope season opens the solar panels on the wells are taken down so they don't get shot, during the deer and antelope seasons we had to check the fences and gates off the hiway every few days, usually have to fix a gate or cut fence at least twice a season. Have had water tanks shot up, cattle killed, busted fences galore and trash, and this is in Wyoming where the population of the entire state is less than one town in the valley. People would bitch about the private hunting grounds, yep, when my Great-Great-Grandfather homesteaded in 1880's that was what he was thinking - we need private hunting grounds. Started shutting off access when the effort to clean up the mess was no longer worth it.
