If I remember correctly about 10 years ago Grijalva tried to get some of the Coronado NF made into a wilderness area, this would have resulted in a proposed power line build being forced to go over land he owned versus public ground. Anyone out there remember the details on this?

yea......hope it makes it through the Senate

I started with a RCBS Rock Chucker kit, single stage press and all the stuff you need to get started. Reloading manuals give you the recipes for brass, primers, powder and bullets. Start out by following the recipes and as you get more comfortable and knowledgeable then you can make changes. I recommend starting with a single stage press rather than a turret/progressive, learn the steps individually, it's safer that way.

I put in for units I don't know quite a lot, gives me an excuse to buy a few maps and go exploring. Putter around in a few different areas, walk around a little, and you will get a good handle on the country and a few different spots to hunt.

Shouldn't loose your BP's. They charged you $7.50 the day you typed up the app, since you paid the app fee you should get bonus point(s), the disallowed charge was for the elk permit, should be treated same as not drawn.

cool, littlest one got the biggest one.......he has bragging rights for a while

yea, mine will spit out meat faster than I can feed it, the 2nd and 3rd grindings come out quickly too, for years I used a small counter top, took me a week to put up 1 bull and 2 cow elk one fall, that's when I stepped up to a big one.
-
good grinders, kind of heavy tho, a 1/2 hp would have been sufficient for the average hunter. I have a 1.5 hp from Cabela's and my only complaint is the weight, and I don't whine that much about it because I got it for $200 at the Bargain Cave. Next pick up Bruce Aidell's Complete Sausage Book, it has about 50 to 60 recipes for 2 to 5 lb batches, buy your spices in bulk from Sprout's, Penzy's or WinCo and it is a lot cheaper. I mix 1/3 to 1/2 pork to game, depends on what I am making and how much sausage I want.

I have the Cabela's carbon fiber, it's not the tall one and I cannot stand and glass, I could if it was the tall one, I'm 6'2". I have the Outdoorsman pistol grip, panning and quick release attached. Came as a package deal with the glass, I would have bought the tall one. It is worth your time to check it out.

had a 5x4 walk up 20 yds from me, left side was normal 5, right side came out of the middle of his forehead and was missing the eyeguard point. I had a cow tag.

national monument designation
azslim replied to bonuspointjohn's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I run into it a lot working with FS and BLM around the country on wildfires, this hippie city kids that grew up on Walt Disney and his movies and hate hunting, cattle grazing, all the activities that made the west, are now in positions of leadership and it reflects in their decisions. Doesn't surprise me at all that they are in G&F also. -
national monument designation

family fights are the dirtiest.........we may not like SB2072 but the folks that introduced it hunt and a Natl Monument designation would hit them too, politics make strange bedfellows and this is politics at work -
I bet AZSFW could help us get the rules changed.......they are pretty good at lobbying......

you can't anchor your bow shot with a call in your mouth, make sure you spit it out before you draw few years ago stumbled up on a sow & red, knew there were more, tooted on the J-13 and the lead boar came running at me like a rottweiler with his mouth open wide, didn't know whether to $hit, run or wind my watch. He stopped at about 10 yds, was going to run the arrow down the length of him, drew and realized I still had the call in my mouth, let down and spit it out, drew again an saw my Trapdoor rest had went down so lowered the bow again, reloaded the rest, drew and watched the boar run away.

what's the hurry, hunt doesn't start for a while yet.......

most archery hunters are more experienced and dedicated than the average rifle hunter resulting in hitting the 20% goal G&F established. adding 50 more General tags may result in 5 to 7 more deer tagged at most, you will still have the hardcore rifle hunters that tag out every year, but the bulk of the general tag holders go home without a deer

mine are hanging in lattice work on my back patio

Stand United and Be Aware
azslim replied to Silence Dogood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The people you talk about have put in a lot of time and effort on behalf of wildlife for many years, but they sure hurt themselves and their credibility with the tag grab - TWICE. Their actions have probably doomed AZSFW in the state, I know they will never get a dime from me and many of my friends. No matter how many attaboys you have, one aw $hit wipes the slate clean. Their actions, specifically trying a second time to get a hold of the tags after the majority of sportsmen in the state opposed it, have led to a big split in the hunting community. Seems to me the only ones that won in this debacle are the anti-hunting orgs, we have a group of people experienced in getting things done based on their long volunteer efforts that have no support from the rank and file and will have a tough time getting it. Yep, Center For Biological Diversity is loving AZSFW right now.
