I'll be in there by myself too. Will just gypsy camp, cot under the stars and tear stuff down every morning. Pick spots that aren't in traffic routes and don't offer a lot of cover.

I see the red shirt under the nomex, you with Mo Lake Shots? If so I just worked with you on the Mistake fire.

you ran into a troop of females and young, I've ran into them a few times in that country, pretty fun to watch
-
great buck, have hunted burns quite a bit myself, have to be careful when the wind starts blowing, snags come down with no noise until they hit the ground - or you
-
don't make a big camp, I'm usually by myself when in that country, I just pop up a cot on a flat spot for camp every night, and it's generally in a different spot

didn't lose much game to the fire, they just moved, I have pics of a flock of gobblers feeding along the fire edge, and all the crews saw fresh bear tracks, the game is there, you just need to find where they moved

New pair of boots wanted for low desert hot hunting
azslim replied to stalkincoues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Can't get my favorites anymore, the Cabela's Trophy Series, been looking hard at the 10" Kenetrek Mountain boots, non-insulated. I like tall uppers, especially when there are cactus and shin-diggers around. -
I have the Outback Lodge, same style as the Alaknak, and the Bighorn II, prefer the Bighorn as it doesn't have the center pole. My Outback Lodge has stood up to some pretty tough weather over the years, couple times it was the only tent standing after a big wind. Both are great 2 person camps with everything inside them.

270 FPS out of a bow claiming 315 fps IBO?
azslim replied to rossislider's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
you can pick up some speed with tuning, reduce arrow weight, change fletchings and spend time with a chrono and the TRU Accelerator balls. I picked up 5 fps going to Blazers, and another 5 when I got the TRU balls in the right spot on the string. Had a friend help me, he's the one with the brains, to get the tuning correct before I started messing with the other stuff. Hoyt Vectrix, 30 inch draw set at 70 lbs and I am getting 285 - 290 fps after all the work.
