do you have a backup bow? If you don't need the money for a new one I'd keep the old one too, stuff happens, especially in the back country, be nice to have a bow you are familiar with in camp.

not in to bell peppers but I stuff and grill a lot of jalapeno's and green chiles. Simple mix of whipped cream cheese, some shredded cheese, chives or minced onion, bacon bits or sausage crumbles and a little garlic powder or fresh minced garlic, if I'm stuffing mushrooms I'll dice up the stems and add that to the mix also. I just cut the peppers in half, seed and de-vein them and lay them on their sides, allows the stuffing mix to get a little brown. Goes over pretty good as an appetizer while waiting for the main meal to finish, takes 20 to 30 minutes to cook depending on how hot the grill is.

when you hook up your harness strap to the tree make sure you can reach the floor of the stand if you are hanging from it, that way you will be able to pull yourself up should you fall asleep and fall out. I know a couple guys that dangled for a bit until someone came and helped them. The #1 accident and cause of death in hunting is people falling asleep in their tree stands and not being properly harnessed in. Need to use a chest harness not just a belt.

I agree with you TJ, once you get to a certain age you should not do an activity that requires your butt to get higher than your head - I'm at that age....

my first thought when I read the story yesterday is they were hunting and shooting from the back of the truck, tough lesson to learn and a devastated family, nothing but sympathy for them

I miss those days, only because it has been many years since I checked the heifers at 2200, 0200 and 0600. We always had a couple dozen 2 year olds we kept in the corral behind the barn for their first calves. Helping them calve and looking at the surprise and wonderment in their eyes as they checked out their first calf. Or bailing over the fence in a hurry when the mama instinct kicked in hard. Good way for a kid to grow up.
