called the Jack Fire and is growing, wind isn't helping, friend of mine on it says he wouldn't be surprised if it hits 1000 acres by tonight

Would you rather buy from Big Box stores or the little guy?

I go out of my way to buy from small stores and will pay a few dollars more, I also look for gear made in the USA, same deal - will pay more for it rather than cheap junk from China. -

just spent 2 weeks at the Park on the Galahad Fire, nice herd hanging in the meadow by the front gate, Park folks figure the total herd size is about 700, they have been having discussions on how to allow limited hunting on the Park, one scenario - Hunter shoots a buff, Park signs it over to G&F, G&F signs it over to hunter, kind of convoluted but this would be a first - hunting at a Natl Park. Would like to get herd down to 300 to 400. One young kid got a nice bull while I was there, Russ Jacoby guided him, we ran into his wife coming off the line with the bull in the truck.

ranchers have been stewards of the land for many generations, where do you think the bulk of the dirt tanks come from, the Govt didn't build them and do little to maintain them.

Randall's has them new, $27 to $30 per 100 depending on the brand, SE corner of 51st Ave & Olive.

I know of spots SW of Phx used as training grounds, can find commo wire, 06 blanks and cases, old fighting holes, stuff used and done for training in WWII. I keep my eyes open for stuff like that along with pot shards, arrowheads, etc. Lot of history in this state.

brass was probably already policed up and sold long ago lived in Indian Springs Nev as a kid, that is where the Thunderbirds are stationed and practiced, we used to find all sorts of stuff out in the desert around the base.

fire resized at 88 acres, 60% contained -
unfortunately there will be many people out this weekend that feel the restrictions do not apply to them.........

wildlandfire.com gets updated quicker than most Gov sites, guys from around the country do it, from the main page hit the Hotlist button then it breaks down by region.

last update 150+ acres, 0% containment, Logan IHC assigned I worked with Logan last year in Idaho, they are a good Hot Shot crew and get a lot of work done, if they can get the air assets to help them this fire shouldn't get out of hand too bad. Was out camping last weekend, saw and smelled a few fires, one at a major Boy Scout gig, just have to shake my head at these idiots that think the rules are for other people and not them. -
6 Hot Shot crews on it now, another 15 ordered up, Sciacca's Type 1 Team taking over as of 1500 today, going to be a bad one due to the terrain, tough getting people in there without getting them hurt. Over 500 acres with 0% containment.

be willing to bet it is a conscious decision by PD to make a point because they just had to take a pay cut.....

I have 15x50 Vipers that are my backups/loaners, found a lot of game with them, nice and clear and lighter than 15x56's
-
dipped for over 40 years, quit once for 7 years then started archery hunting, just quit again hopefully for good, been real hard on my teeth and I like to eat steaks
-
and if MDH doesn't I will, get a Christmas present out of the way early
-
yep, if MDH doesn't take it I will depending on where you live - I'm in the NW valley Phx/Glendale
-
2 50 gr pellets and a 250 gr Hornady SST sabot
-
if you can afford it I suggest you keep them as backups/loaners, you never know what will happen on a hunt, fall and knock your bino's out of kilter (me a few years back), wind blow over a table and throw all the glass on the ground (had this happen to friends) or take someone out that doesn't have decent glass you can lend them these. I have some 15x50 Vipers that I use for this purpose, tell them if they break the glass no biggie, has a great warranty, if they screw up my tripod or bino mount they have to pay to fix/replace.

Was bummed to miss it, hope to be there next year and since I have all my classes done for the next 2 years my calendar will be open.

this guy seems to have done some research, wish one of the major news orgs would put a little time in to investigate this situation http://scgnews.com/bundy-ranch-what-youre-not-being-told
