our diet has pretty much been wild game and fresh vegetables since Cheri got sick, we believe it has something to do with her still being around -

used to shoot their heads off with a .22lr years ago in Wy, they aren't too bright and you can get close so .410 is sufficient -
speaking with a guy in Washington state last month and he said a couple of his friends have this rifle and at max velocity the accuracy isn't there, back off the velocity for accuracy and it isn't much faster than the 6.5x284 not my story so have nothing to say pro or con on this, just sharing info that was shared with me

it'll wash out, and there isn't as much as you would imagine, when you slip a qtr in a pillow case hang it in a tree in the shade so it picks up a breeze, take it down for the next piece. You can fit a coues into 2 pillow cases, I carry an extra just in case
-
skin & qtr where you drop it, get it in pillow cases, then get it in a cooler full of frozen water bottles when you get back to camp and you will be happy with the meat

go fish Little Bob's Lake on the Wind River Reservation, mile to 1.5 mile walk from where you park, catch so many fish your arms will get tired. -
great rigs folks, my daughters would shoot mine with 180 gr rounds when doing the demo's at Hunter Ed field days, combo of BOSS and semi action reduces recoil. With a good solid rest I can see the animal react to the bullet and decide if it needs another one.

Feds ignore Az stakeholders concerning the Mexican wolf
azslim replied to WhtMtnHunter's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Maybe Az G&F should be like Idaho, tell the Feds they will not do any law enforcement efforts for the wolves, no investigating deaths, no writing tickets, zero expenditure of State dollars, if the Feds don't want our input they can shoulder the program all on their own. -
they make good gear, I have their Sawtooth shelter and medium stove

HAS THE TIME COME?? WOLVES BEING RELEASED IN PRESCOTT AREA??
azslim replied to a topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
end goal, reduce the game populations to the point we can no longer hunt them thus ending hunting -
10 cents a bullet for 22's, I remember making .220swift ammo for 10 cents each not many years back

yep, I heard cows or couse (like house) for the correct name, but when I call them that people think I'm an idiot, I'll give them the background on the 2nd Lt that was the first biologist to write about our little grey ghosts.

try The Safe Store, Indian School west of I17 on the southside of the road

you will be satisfied with decent glass Bruce, I have the SLC's along with Vortex Viper's in 15's and find game with both of them, the Vipers are lighter because they are only 50mm vs 56mm and about $1400 cheaper. You know how and where to glass, you will be happy with any brand as long as it is good quality. When you get to the top of the line you are kind of picking the fly poop out of the pepper to say which is better than the other.

I replace hinges with leather on coolers

I use a 120 qt from Costco, freeze a case of 16 oz water bottles for ice so your meat isn't soaking in melt water, it with fit a cow if I cut above the knee joint on the hind qtrs, have to bone out an elk, put down a layer of water bottles and stick the qtrs in, then tuck bottles wherever they will fit. I also only use it for meat not as extra storage for camp goods, that way the lid is never opened except to fill it with meat. Make sure you leave it on the tailgate to load. Use pillow cases for meat bags.

your 7mag will work fine, just need to work up a good load and spend trigger time, and maybe an optics upgrade to a scope with turrets set for your load/vel/bc but then again this is an excellent opportunity to put a new gun in the safe, there is no such thing as too many guns

indians smoked themselves before and during hunts

this was the year I was due to get drawn but only got a BP, was on a fire and a friend put us in for deer together then bought me my sheep point, sitting on 18 points now, maybe I'll draw before I die

you know cows, like Bessie, well when they have a calf and it gets lost it has a distinct moo it makes, that is what Paul would use

good friend of mine was a helluva lion hunter, cleaned out a lot on the San Carlos for cattle ranchers, had great luck with a lost beef calf call
