gutless, pillow cases for game bags, only thing you need a saw for is the antlers, if you shoot a cow just scalp the head from behind the ears to the top of the eyeballs, it will fit in a 1 gal ziplock and be your proof of legality

double faced carhartt's in black, grey or dark brown

I've done the Tandy kit on deer, elk and a lion, they came out ok
-
I use it sitting in a blind where you have no control over wind direction, seems to have worked for me. I don't wear it if I'm going to be walking.

I like the Kuiu top half gear, the only thing that works good in catclaw is double faced Carhartt's so don't own any bottom half stuff

I have a seal-a-meal and will make my own mixtures, some Onion Soup mix and a handful of Minute Rice, add in some jerky if I want meat, Potato Soup mix and a can of oysters, makes for a good stew on a cold mtn top. Any of the bulk soup mixes work good and you can add whatever you feel like for a protein source. I carry a canteen cup, pull together a handful of sticks to make a fire and have hot food or coffee (Starbucks Via Instant) wherever you may be at the time.

pillow cases work good for qtr's, if you want to cover a full carcass fold a big sheet in half and run a seam around the edges

apparently not enough........

-

have the same gun, mine likes 250 gr Hornady SST sabots

I judge them by how close to the road they are.........hard to pass up a B&C spike standing right next to the road......easy pack out......
-
I've made them out of 2'x12' 1/4" mesh wire, cut in 2' square pieces, pull the 4 corners together and tie with string, this will leave 4 slots for them to get in the trap, hang a chicken wing and tie onto a long stick and set. Check frequently because they can get out. When you are done cut the string and you can lay the wire flat again so it doesn't take up much space.

been using them for years, pick em up on sale or at a yard sale, wash with hot water & bleach and you're good to go, then you can either wash and use again or throw them away and give your wife a dollar and send her yard saling. you need the king size ones for bull elk I had a Mickey Mouse pillow case that packed a lot of game, it finally wore out, been using a couple of Winnie the Pooh's for deer and javelina the last few years

Great place to purchase guns.... Buds Guns
azslim replied to Chris's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I like Randall's, SE corner of 51st Ave & Olive, they have always treated me right, usually beat Cabela's prices, and searched hard for me when I order a new gun they don't have on the shelf I have bought several used guns from pawn shops, figure they paid half of what the price tag says and start negotiating. And the longer it has been on the shelf the better deal you can get. -
good friend lost a 330+ bull last season with a similar shot, no blood trail to follow, turkey hunter found it a couple weeks later and my friend is scary good with a bow

recommendations for ground blind and trail cam
azslim replied to Green Bullet's topic in The Campfire
if I sit water I wear Scent-Lok, if spot & stalk I just play the wind you'll hear various stories about Scent-Lok gear, depends on what you do in it. I leave mine in a bag until I am ready to put in on, and take it off as soon as I get back to the truck. If you are wearing it in the cafe, gassing up your truck and smoking on your way to your blind it's not so good. It works for me when I'm sitting water and have no control over the direction of the game or the wind. -
Caring for game in the field
azslim replied to Matt Meyer's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I throw a couple frozen water bottles in the game pouch on my vest, seems to cool things down pretty good. Depending on how far I am from the truck I will clean the quail, leave a wing attached, stick them in a ziplock and put them on the ice bottles. The few rabbits I've taken I just stop the truck, get out and shoot it, clean it and stick it in the cooler, then get back in the truck. A 1 gal weed sprayer filled with water is great for giving things a wash down in the field. -
I'm happy with mine, but wish they made a 65mm version of the 20-60, the 85mm gets a bit heavy after a few miles

recommendations for ground blind and trail cam

I use a ghillie suit and a 4'x12' piece of camo burlap, can trim out a bush or tree, make a flat spot for the chair and string the burlap in front, works good and I don't have to worry about someone stealing it -
If you don't have cows to chase horses just eat money and sh!t work...........but I sure miss being able to go saddle one up and go for a ride and they make good hunting camp partners, you can tell them anything you want and they don't blab next time they are at the bar
