not sure of the age of your kids, mine liked it when I get them their own tents, $40 Kelty 3 man jobs from Costco did the trick, the wife and I set up in a 10x10 dome
-
I wear a 145 merino 1st layer and a 200 pelaton over that, then an old cabela's shirt over that to protect from the mean Az bushes
-
if you sit water build your blind about 40 yds or so away, I tuck under trees wait until they have their head down taking a drink to draw
-
you won't have any doubts when you see the one you want, there's no mistaking a big ram.

Copy, more pockets which is what the Pro series provides
-
why don't you like it? I've been looking at the 3200 & 5200, don't want to drop $ for something I won't be happy with

my Great Grandpa, the horse Pilot loved to hunt, he would point out game with his eyes and ears, let you rest the rifle on his butt to shoot, but if you tried to load the deer on him he would leave you and the deer there and go home, thus Red has the deer on his back.

I wear Kuiu 145 as my base layer with an old Cabela's button shirt w/2 breast pockets that stands up to the mean bushes in Az, when it is too hot for the base layer I shed it and put it in my pack an put on my old shirt, my camo may not match but I'm not tearing up high dollar gear. I suggested to Kuiu they make a shirt to stand up to the bushes in Az, doubt they will do it but what the hey, I told them Az shreds their stuff

build a ground blind a month in advance so they have time to get used to it

Coconino National Forest Wants your Feedback On road Closures
azslim replied to elkaholic's topic in The Campfire
G&F was a major force behind closing all the roads on NF's until they found out THEY wouldn't be receiving money for enforcement, then they backed away and pretended they have no dog in the fight. This is a law that was enacted by Clinton and nothing was done until Obama. My friends that work for the FS hate it as much as anyone but can't do anything but sit back and watch it get shoved down our throats. -
my hunting load, it's a bit on the hot side 25.5 grs 2400, CCI Lg Mag Pistol primer and a 180 gr jacketed hollowpoint
-
go hit up some pawn shops for a shotgun, be picky and you can get a good one for a reasonable price
-
I used 180 gr rds in mine, javelina aren't big, used 110 gr for .357, all handloads

Looking to Buy Binoculars Under 500 dollars. Reccomendations
azslim replied to CouesHunterAZ's topic in The Campfire
Vortex is a good starter set if you know they are just temporary, don't get rid of them when you upgrade, these will be the ones you let your kids use, loan out to a friend just starting or if you have an "ah crap" moment and your good glass gets broke (seen it happen a few times) -
Big Boquillas Ranch Threat or Leverage or Both!
azslim replied to SirRoyal's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
so why not get sportsmen's groups together to push to make corner hopping legal, with all the good map software available now the avg hunter will know where the boundry lines are and public ground can be accessed -
keep the Swaro 15's, I have the Vortex Razor and it spends the bulk of it's time in my pack because everyone needs and extra 5 lbs in their pack. I can tell most of the time with my 15's whether it is a buck, especially with good bucks. It comes out when I see something that I think is a deer bedded but just can see enough detail under the tree to be positive. Out of my pack for 5 mins then back in my pack. If I have a long walk planned for the day the spotter stays in the truck. Don't give up your Swaro's, you'll regret it.

gray and black are also good colors

what to bring on mid January Coues Deer hunt
azslim replied to fire652's topic in Other Hunting Gear
8's or 10's around your neck and 15's with a tripod in your pack layer up, you'll be shedding as the day goes on, then digging it out of your pack when the sun goes down pillow cases and a boning knife to pack out the meat -
Things your huntin buddies do that drive you nuts : )

when was the last time you took copper fouling solvent to the barrel?
-
I know of deer killed that would sit on a hillside and watch the traffic drive by
-
yes, they were Nike's.......
-
yes, and if you can hang it do so and put some deep slices into the qtr, some of the blood will drain out, it'll still be blood shot but not as bad, you're still going to end up pitching some but usually not as much
