    Starlink

I just ordered the standard model $499 with the roam plan $150/mo (can be paused). I intend to use multiple times this fall to stay connected and extend my trips while working a few days during the week. My son's NM antelope hunt will be the first real test Aug. 3-5. There is little to no cell service where we hunt. This will allow us to stay connected with home. Then I go to ID for September to archery hunt elk. I will have to be on several TEAMS video conferences during that time. I am hoping no one will know that I am not in the office back in Phoenix. The lodge I stayed at last December in Mexico had Starlink. Everyone in the group was connected using Wi-Fi calling and video facetime. I was surprised how well it worked with multiple people on at the same time. Others were even streaming sporting events in the evening with no delays. Good luck.

Anyone using a chest freezer/generator combo?

Very effective. I bought a used chest freezer on CL and took it up on an extended Utah Book Cliffs archery deer hunt. We were able to freeze the heads and ran the generator the whole way back to PHX. We dropped the heads off in Camp Verde and had the taxi freeze dry treat the velvet and they are amazing compared to my other formaldehyde treated velvet racks I have. The freeze keep any ice we had for the whole trip and we only ran it several hours each day until we killed. Good luck this fall.

  5. For sale Davis wall tent 12x14 SOLD I won this tent in a raffle in May 2020. It was setup once and I took a few pictures. I anticipated using it on extended elk hunt but bought a trailer in 2022. Includes poles and angle sections. I bought a Rubbermaid rolling trash bin to store and transport the tent. Keeps dry and away from critters.

Got the call from game and fish

Primary target is a coues buck but he can take either with the muzzy tag. I also found out it is good for both 35 A&B units.

    Any spring leftover tags?

Yes put most desired unit in both 1st & 2nd then remaining in 3/4/5

    Any spring leftover tags?

Drawing 2nd choice when there are leftover tags for 1st choice happens when you are drawn in the initial Max bonus point round for the 2nd choice. You did not have enough BPs to draw in the initial max pool for 1st choice but did for the 2nd choice. It happened to me with my son on a youth hunt. Some javelina units you can draw in max round with loyalty point and hunter ed point. AZGFD explained that I needed to put 1st choice unit in both 1st and 2nd slot cause these are only considered in max BP round.

    Youth bow question

I will have a youth Diamond infinite edge LH bow available shortly. My son is upgrading at Xmas to a Mathew Vertix. The Diamond is highly adjustable as they grow. Plus strong enough to harvest an elk (Sept’18) I would be willing to let your son try LH bow to see if it works. I would suggest a lesson w an archery instructor so they can help evaluate.

electric winch drag weight vs rating.

It is cheaper and safer to use snatch block pulley to increase leverage.

    NM Unit 17 Youth ML

Aziator; My son had this hunt last year. DM me and I will give you details on what we saw. Yes, there are elk all over the unit but activity during that time was concentrated due to drought last year and likely the same this year. We had a great time with screaming bulls and passing on raghorns. We only had three days to hunt due to school schedules. My son took at cow at 10 yards cause she was going to bust the herd on last morning walking right to us. (Youth are Any Sex Tags). He already had an archery 6x6 and a muzzy 6x6 from AZ so we were looking for the big herd bull. He was just out of range behind trees that last morning. My son had not taken a cow elk so knowing we had to leave by noon he took the cow when the bull moved further away in the PJs. A lot of great memories. Not everyone had the same experience. We worked hard to be on the herd and had to change locations when the first area went silent. 2020 was tough rut year.

How far would you pack out an elk

https://www.packwheel.com/ Considering a Pack Wheel this year after hauling a cow elk out three miles last year in WY. But it was a special trophy cow elk, so it was all worth it. Joking aside I would do it again. Nothing like passing out at camp ~3:AM after the hike out.
