You probably didn’t notice the cape that is rolled up in the white game bag under the bull’s head. What you are seeing is where the head was cut off leaving the bone/neck exposed. Here in Arizona it gets hot this time of year and it is best to leave the cape and neck open to the air. We had it to the taxidermist within a couple hours of being harvested. John is going to have a great shoulder mount to add to his trophy room.

I thought you might want to see another picture of this bull. He is 55" wide, wider than a jeep!

All of us at HPO have been blessed this year again to spend some quality time looking at velvet bulls and watching them grow. We are lucky to live in Flagstaff and sometimes take it for granted but this time of year when we are out pulling SD cards and looking at bulls every night it is a great reminder just how lucky we are. I thought I would post a few pictures of some good bulls and some truly unique pictures that we have captured over the past month. There has been a lot of talk about lack of growth from the dry winter what do you guys think from the pictures? The new Stealth Cameras are truly unreal. We are using their new G30. It takes great day time pictures but what are truly exceptional are the night time pictures that it takes. If you are in the market for a new trail camera check out the new Stealth Cam G42 and G30 cameras. They are truly amazing. We are getting 15,000-20,000 pictures on a set of 8 AA batteries with these things. I would have never believed that it could happen. Another product that has made a huge difference for our pictures is Critter Lick. This stuff is incredible and will bring in the bulls from all over right up to the camera so you can capture the pictures you need to see the trophy quality of the animal. During the dry period of June we set up on water sources but once the rains come the Critter Lick will bring them in to one location for pictures when the water has them spread out. AZkiller - it comes in 4lb bags. Easy to carry around in your backpack.

Standman - You would need to ask AG&F if this is legal to hunt over. We don't use it for that as there are just too many other hunting options that are much more productive and more exciting ways to hunt elk.

Our opinion is Unit 10 has the best bulls in the state and you can actually see them! Unit 9 is so thick it is difficult to glass. We have hunted units 9 and 10 for the past 10+ years. My money goes to unit 10 every year. With that being said we love to hunt unit 9 as well so give me that tag any day! A few years back I had the same thing where my CC got canceled right in the middle of all the application process. After that I opened a CC account and only use it for my applications. I never use it for anything else. I think this is the best way to deal with the problem. It seems like every few years one of my cards or wife's cards get hit with fraud and they have to cancel the card. It may be time for you to get a Hunting Applications CC only. Very unlikely that you will ever have the problem again. Just an idea. It is not easy to deal with some states when your CC is canceled in the middle of the process. Good luck with your current problem.
