Man I hate it when I get deer in my elk spots. If you need some help getting rid of them let me know I would be more than happy to help you do that. I just would hate to see your elk spot get ruined by those pesky little deer.

    30-30 questions

A few months back my grandpa passed away. After his passing I was given his old Winchester 30-30. After doing a little research on its serial number I found that was manufactured in 1916. The gun was given to my grandpa by my great grandpa. As all the family lore goes this gun has killed more deer than I have ever seen. After having received this beautiful rifle I have wanted to add a buck of my own to the pile of bucks this gun has taken over its life time. I have some questions that maybe you fellow coueswhitetail.com members can help me with. 1) Due to this guns age do I need to special load 30-30 cartridges that are not as “hot” as some of the older cartridges of the time when this gun was manufactured? Kind of like is done with the M1-Garand rounds. 2) This question is much like the first. Do I need to take into account the powder charge and burn rate evolution from 1916 to today? Should this affect the structural integrity of the gun? Thanks for any help I just do not want to get some rounds that will compromise the safety and performance of this gun.

    Bears and Deer

I know that a healthy lion population will take its toll on the local deer population as will an abundance of coyotes. Does a healthy bear population have an effect on the local deer population? Does anyone have any insight into the ecological relationship between these two species?

    What Causes Seeps?

Thanks that is a good article.

    What Causes Seeps?

I have absolutely no geological qualifications to be making any claims about what makes a seep. However I have found many a seep spots in my hiking miles and it has been my observance that a seep is spring that does not produce enough water to flow. I have noticed that sometimes a spring will flow for a while and then go back underground then pop back up later down the hill. Sometimes where the spring almost reaches the earth’s surface but does not do so enough to flow it will create a seep spot. Then later down the hill you can find where it pops back up to a flowing spring. Like I said I do not have any geological qualifications to be declaring the doctrine of springs and seeps this is just what I have noticed. But maybe I have noticed wrong.
