What powder for .308 win?
ctafoya replied to DesertBull's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I use h4350 for all my larger calibers with great success. -
I have a set of the Nikon ar rings I could let go. PM me if interested. I used them with a cheap simmons take off and shot very well to 200 yards. I also have some cheap scopes im getting rid of.

So we took my wife's new Remington 700 7mm out yesterday and "broke" it in. The results are the same as my savage 116 300wsm that saw 50 rounds before it ever had a patch run through it. Both are .25 or better at 200 yards. Is break in just a myth or did I just get lucky with my savage?

Keep your head on a swivel. We had the first JR hunt. Glassed up two monster pigs and on the way to them we jumped a heard and shot one at 15 yards. Two days later went back to the same spot and shot another one at 10 yards. As long as your quite you wont bust em out. They'll hang out for a few minutes to try to find out what you are. They were even still hanging around as we were dressing out the second one.

Had that tag five years ago. Luckily it didn't get too cold while we were there. Awesome offer. -
My wife and oldest have late 27. They are the last hope this year since my early archery tag went unfilled.

Not much change for me this week. Finally got my garage squared away to so my weights are accessible again. Should see some more gains in the upcoming weeks.

DE is fairly harmless to us/pets as long as you don't inhale it.

I moved my table on my own twice. I set it up and felted it also the first time. Mine is a three piece slate so it wasn't too bad. The last time I moved it I had diamondback billiards set it up put on New felt bumpers and leveled it. They did a great job. But if he wants to save a few.bucks its not as bad as most.People.think to move one.

I noticed this in 24a on friday. Took my boys out for their hunt, and we made a collective decision to go home and never put in for the early hunts in that unit again. Had a guy in front of us chucking beer cans and flicking cigarette butts purposely roosting us while we were trying to get out of the overcrowded area. If i didn't have my boys with me things would have got ugly. Beer cans and bottles all over the road. Trash everywhere and a holes on utv,s flying all over the place. We were glad to be out hunting, but from now on we will go after quality hunts and not just settle for a hunt.

With my old job I drove every ford diesel made from 2000 to present, a 2012 chevy, and a few 2012 dodges. They all pulled great. Dodge was the more stout vehicle of the bunch. Chevy was the fastest, had the smallest cab, got the best mileage, and squatted bad under a load. The fords were all around a great ride. Comfortable, fast, towed great, but they were also in the shop quite a bit. Personally I have owned a 2002 cummins, and a 2004 powerstorke. I loved the ride, the looks, and pretty much everything about the f250 except all the times it left me stranded. As with my work vehicles, injectors, HPOP, FICM, EGR, and blown head gaskets are the norm. My cummins was a beast, but it rode like a tank, and I had transmission issues frequently. If i was to buy a new rig, i would get a ram 2500 with the big HEMI and call it good. I've had 2 2500 with the HEMI and no complaints. I miss the sound and smell of the older diesels(not this new quite crap) but I cant justify an oil burner anymore.

Nice, I needed a break from all the BS.

Finally got it done after some long nasty hikes. First one down Friday morning second one down Sunday morning. First animals down for both of them. Saw lots of critters on this hunt. Friday morning we glassed up a monster pig just over 500 yards. We decided to go after it and see if we could find him again. We made it to the ridge he was on and started glassing. It came out on the hillside to our left with another equally huge pig. Ranged them at 265 yards. The oldest boy is good to go out to 300 yards but the youngest only to 100 so we decided to circle around the mountain and head them off. We make it up to the top and its pig central. Must have been at least 15. Braden(the younger one) finds the one he wants. Tyler sees them but cant find them in the scope. Braden lets the .243 loose and drops his pig. It was staring right at him and hit it behind the jaw broke it in about 100 places and ripped through the windpipe jugular and spine. Also found that the skull cracked as well. Thats why he didnt get the stick in mouth picture. In all the commotion Tyler never got a shot off. Went back out Saturday and didn't see anything but bugs. Sunday morning we hike back up the same mountain to see if the pigs have come back. We get to our spot and we got pigs in the same place 15 yards away from the first pig. Tyler gets ready and cant stop shaking and lets one loose and hits him a little far back. Pig looks a little angry with a fist size hole the .308 left in him so i tell Tyler hit him again since he started walking away. Second shot did him in. They have deer coming up Halloween day so back to the range and hopefully they slow the shakes down on the next hunt.
