Good for you for stepping up. I have four kids and my wife and I work fulltime and it still seems like we never have enough time. Cant imagine with only one parent. Is he a larger kid or a skinny guy? I have a savage axis in 308 that my 16 year old starting shooting when he was 13. Took a little time and some rounds loaded down but he got over all the problems with kids and high powered rifles in no time. Nice light weight and accurate rifle for the price. Start him out on that ar for a while till he gets comfortable and move him up from there. My youngest is a scrawny little runt and im trying to get him sized up with something this year for his first deer hunt also.

If I wasn't in the middle of buying a house at the moment that yota would be in my driveway. Free tip. Spray some carb clean around all the gaskets when you start it up. Might have an intake leak. I had one on my sand rail and it was acting just like how you describe.

True on that elk tag and I didn't even put in for deer this year. Just put in for points and put two of my kids for deer and pigs.

Heading up there tomorrow. I'll be there until Saturday morning so hopefully we will miss the holiday rush.
