I have white tail tag in pocket and a smile on my face. Going scouting this week end
-
i found a nice white tail around 4 this afternoon. when i found him he was standing in the shade eating. i could seem him pretty good between the binos and spotter. i went to set up the camera and i lost him for about 10 min. he bedded in the same group of trees. i would guess its close to a mile away. with the wind shaking the tripod and the heat the camera would not focus very well. i seem him realy good with the spotter. hes very wide with big bulbs on the end of each tip with huge dagger eyeguard its hard to tell in the pic but if you zoom it in they can be seen better. they were taller and thicker than his g2's i have a white tail tag in a different unit.

i guess this has been out for a while but i just hear it on the radio today then the news tonight. basicly if you were on active duty and stoplossed for a deployment the DoD will pay 500 per month. after you scan your doc its a very easy process. with scanning my documents and completing the process it took me about 20 min. retroactive stop loss pay

An attempt at digiscoping
oz31p replied to Condor's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Ovwer the last few months I have found that digiscoping is more of an art. You pic look better that the ones I've been taking. I ve used is my cameras timer I set it so I press the button 1/2way it will fucus the all the way but it waits 2 secs untill it takes the pic. It seens like I can't push thebutton with out shaking it. I Ill will try the focus knob while the camera is doing its auto thing next time I'm out. -
my leupold mark 4 LR/T 4.5-14x40 arrived friday and i had a chance to sight it in this morning. the knobs are so easy to ajust. it sighted in pretty easy. i had a few very tight groups with the forend and the butt supported. but off a harris bipod a bout an inch was the best i could do. i shot 32 300wm in about 45min and it was hot this morning. now i need to practice dialing different yardages. i did bust a basket ball sized rock at 505y on the first shot with 8moa. the guy i was shooting with was quite the non beliver in the accurace of dialing yardages. i was on a tripod with the gun claw, he picked out the rock and ranged it. i adjusted 8moa and squeezed the trigger. he was shocked that is was a direct hit as he proclamed it to be a fluke. i was too hot and tired to prove other wise, but i will all in due time. 4-shot group. any thing tighter than that is just showing off.

took my new scope out again today. shot it out to 200y on targets, a 300y gong. and busted up some rocks at 500 and 600. i need to shoot at some more paper at 4 5 6 7 800y soon. i have been quite impressed so far.

Getting out and practicing is the fun part.
-
he was shooting at 100 and 200y on the same session. he checked the calculator afterward. i think his barrel is pointing up and the bullet as not started to come down untill after 200. plus the 55g is a zinger. his 100 groups is dead on.

Just you wait not the next time your camping and you hear a noise at night.
-
Its not hard to guess the writers opinoin in the story....incase a camper starts firing his gun at a niose in the dark. Wow the last time I was camping and heard a noise at night I waisted so much ammo when I. Began unloading both full auto aks. I guess I should bring more ammo and the rpgs on my next camping trip just in case.

I see tripods often at yard sales they are normaly cheap in price sturdy but a lttle heavey but still quite the value plus they are normaly set up and you can spot then from the street with out getting out of your truck.

The permit will still be issued/renewed if one still diesired too. Itx good training to have, there is no backround check when buying guns from an ffl and a fire arm cannot be POSSESED without a permit in some state and city parks . There plenty of gray areas between the new law and the old law its worth reading them both and at times side by side.

I think it would be easer to tell if I could get some grid cords and go see them first hand.....in just kiding I thinkn the big one looking at the cam will go over 100

Nice pickups So true amanda. I enjoy hunting by my self, I enjoy hunting with my standard hunting partners, but the time I spend each year with my dad I seem to cherish the most even though we only hunt dove quail and javelina togather( he wount eat deer so he won't hunt them and we seem to be black listed for the elk draw)

when i was useing the small tripod i took the head off of a small table top tripods and drilled out the center for a longer bolt and then i put the bolt through a 1/4in drive 7/16th socket. then removed the lower part of the pan mechanism and put the upper section over the socket. up and down it moves ok but side to side is silky smooth across the socket. since i have upgraded my whole set up. im using vortex viper 10x42 binos with promaster adapter. on a manfrotto 128cr fluid pan head. the legs are vipers high country. and a vortex nomad spotter. i have been more than impressed with the combo so far. i have taking pic through vortexs digital camera adapter, but with the heat the last few months if its too far away the pics are crap. the set up is light enough and steady enough. i have even used the gun claw while practicing at the range.

My advice.....don't do it. But it sounds like its to late. I would look harder at finding a trophy shop that will engrave buck knifes.
