Hollow points. It's a lot easier to get one with a bow than a pistol.

Swarovski EL 12x50 Swarovision and SLC 15X56 WB
oz31p replied to out4blood's topic in Optics and tripods
I carry them in a kuiu xl harness. I used them off hand while hiking, they seem very stable to me. -
That's a Purdy buck
-
That sounds like a heck of a hunt. Way to stick with it. And colt being there makes it that much better

Just another reason not to flick sticks! Use a gun!. No bet bills for dead stuff. No way in heck on gonna take anger management classes for killing a ferrel animal. the judge insisted.
-
My neighbor hit a cat with a field tip 10 years ago. Along with the animal cruelty charges and the anger management classes and the 24 months on probation. He was forced to pay the veterinarian Bill. Needless to say we Trapped the rest of the feral cat in the neighborhood. They not hard to fool. Line the bottom of the cage with cardboard. They don't like the wire in there feet. The best bait I've found is canned mackerel

Little late season freak action!
oz31p replied to CWpredator's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
That a nice buck. That's a long backpack hunt thru some weather -
I'm in the same boat. I washed the blood out of my Eberlestock after elk season and now it's squeaky toward the top where the internal frame contacts the pack. I haven't messed with it but I need to try something
-
I would have shot that buck too.

the same post was made in the bow hunting section. It got more replys there

I believe I killed one and have a photo but no time right now to dig it up, it's on here buried in archives. I don't believe the size or shape of the rack has anything to do with determining if it's a "Fan Tail", but more so the size of the body. I also don't believe it's a different specie, just dwarfism but who knows! I killed a big racked buck that I doubt even weighed 50lbs and was the size of a javelina. Because of the antler size compared to his body at distance on the hoof, I thought I had just killed a 120"+ deer! What was interesting is the ranch owner warned me previously about a different specie of Coues that were much smaller and lived higher on the ranch… He laughed at me and said "I told you so" when we walked up to what I was sure going to be a 120" but instead it was more like a large jack rabbit with antlers! Roller coaster of emotions that day for sure! JIM>I take your word over just about anyone I know, But still there no photos. The Guys on this site alone kill hundreds of whitetail every year.
-
So every one that believes in them has hear of them and seen them in AZ and Mexico. But some how in the largest group of whitetail hunters in the south west, no one has a photo?.
-
by far the funnest hunt of the year.

If I may..I suggest an ar15. In an m4 configuration. Fast handling Very light low recoil semi auto so follow up shots can be take with out taking your eye from the scope.

Ideas on conserving our game.
oz31p replied to coues32's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The fasted way to increase "our game numbers " would be to stop killing them. -
Just depends. For me every encounter is different. And when there's does its a crapshoot. If I had my choice I'd have him bedded. Or feeding toward me...broad side.lol

Swarovski EL 12x50 Swarovision and SLC 15X56 WB
oz31p replied to out4blood's topic in Optics and tripods
I sold the the non HD 15x56. I am extremely happy. I do think feel like I am missing any thing. Exempt the need to carry 10s and 15s. I don't even carry a spotting scope. If I can't tell if it's an animal I'm interested in with 12s it's too far away for me to make a play any way. -

Dave's normally right. I was in the same boat. Sold my Swarovski 15x56. And got the 12x50 el. They are amazing. -
Good luck. Service is hit or miss at every shop in phoenix

In the last two weekends I've been on mule deer and coues bucks. Neither indicated the rut was near.

they attach to the eye cup. They are made by SwarovskiThey replace the entire twist out. They also make your glasses fog up like crazy IMO. the ones I posted do not replace the twist out parts. If you check them out they have pictures in the link I posted Roger that. Those are different then the ones I had that replaced the whole twist out. who makes them? They should sound worth checking out.
