Petite Youth Stock and .243 barrel for remington 700.
oz31p replied to Couesdeer's topic in Classified Ads
This might be the first time I wished I had a Remington. -
The retina lock is a gimmick. It will have you looking back and forth between the cat eye and the pins. Any standard 5 pin with max .19 pins and a kisser button and alittle proper coaching will serve a new bow hunter much better unless your shooting heavy draw and a Very heavy arrow steer clear of mechanical broadheads. 100g slick trick standards are perfect. Any standard carbon arrow with the appropriate spine is fine. But most pro shops will under spine you be cause they think speed kills. Total arrow weight around 450. Will keep your bow quite and blew thru everting several times over. every company is pushing the latest and greatest but truthfully in the last 5-8 years improvement to archery gears have been very minor most of the “innovations” are that of advertising.

No diferant than any other gf regulation. The few that are enforced are given minor slaps to the wrist any way. If one wants to poach they go out during the off season and shoot what ever they want.
-
Maybe they changed. I tried several years in a row to buy multiple tags in Advance and the Phoenix office would not let me. Something about poaching. I tried to explain to them if I wanted to poach a javelina I didn’t need multiple tags to do it.
-
That’s how the law is written but at the gf counter they won’t sell you more that 2.
-
You may have two tags so long as they are diferant hunt numbers

Anybody use call/rattle for rutting mule deer?

I called in and killed a buck with a single burp once -
That the best javelina blood trail I’ve ever seen

As accurate as the volantary harvest reporting.

That’s just the multi bag limit , and the unit reverts back to one per year correct?
-
In some places. For sure. But I read that Colorado was a zoo the last few years. Especially guys backpacking in the high country. I ran into a group camping in 20c last January from Minnesota. All they did was complain about how cold it was. They were not impressed with the deer numbers I kinda doubt they’ll be back. But they were glassing from the road. I have just hiked back to my vehicle thru “their” glassing area. They never saw me till I came driving up. I assumed they didn’t see the bucks I was after either. I chucked and went on my way.

Not every one. I’m young I have no social media. I put a ton of effort scouting and shooting. And typical shoot the first thing that gives me the chance. I cant be the only one.
-
People also put a lot more effort into scounting and practicing with there weapon than they used to. But it still records are broke every year.

Vertical deer dimensions for gap shooting?
oz31p replied to Bucks&Brews's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
My arrows are 29inch. I’m not sure if my anchor is high or not I don’t have any thing to compare it to. I’m more less self taught and I don’t know any other traditional shooter. I feel like I shot ok. 35-20 my gaps are on the animal from the top of the back to the low belly -
PLEASE READ iso release for One armed shooter

Vertical deer dimensions for gap shooting?
oz31p replied to Bucks&Brews's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The lower point of the red and yellow line are your aiming points correct. If so that’s the reason I switched to 3 under. It drove me crazy to have gaps off the animal. Now I would only aim as low as the red line on a very close shot like 10-12yards. -

That sounds like my anchor. I’m shooting an old Ben person 50#@28 540g black eagle vintage 100g brass insert 150g rms single bevel cut throat. Eagle flight 4 arrow quiver. -
Any one who says hunter numbers are on the decline is full of crap.

Vertical deer dimensions for gap shooting?

I started out gap shooting but ran into the same issues. I went to 3 under. Now my point on is 32-26, 20 and under I aim at belly line. Technically it’s still gap shooting but all then gaps are on the animal. At full draw the tip of my fletch is touching the tip of my nose. And I aim with the tip the arrow while looking down it. I killed a javelina at 26yards on Saturday with a point on shot -
I find them in and around cattle. I was on a herd yesterday that was with in 100 yards of cattle.

And they make your calf’s look AMAZING!!
