So I need to upgrade from my trusty walmart plain jane tripod. I want something with a pistol grip and really am not sure what will be the best set up. I figure that there are plenty of opinions on the site about this and I would appreciate your feed back. I do like to pack in on hunts occasionally so weight is a factor. Thanks AG

Second chance to pay tag fees for any one who applied online
fatfootdoc replied to MT. CAT's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
OH Yeah, this is the PERFECT coueswhitetail.com forum , where no one ever, ever, ever makes a mistake!! PUt yourself in their shoes, bet you would sing a different tune, I think it is fine that they got another chance to submit a cashiers check and I really dont care if I am next in line, they drew fair and square. All of us have made mistakes and they should not be penalized for it. Game and fish pulled a slick change on them and in the paper draw you could use personal checks, oversights happen. Suck it up and be happy for the people who got drawn!! ag -

Advice on Scope BDC's for long range shots
fatfootdoc replied to Atypical's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I have the exact same scope as you bought on my 257 weatherby, the crosshair on my caliber is on at 300, the next is 400 then 500, then 550 and the tip of the lower arrow is 600. It is spot on, the biggest thing is reading the instructions on where to put the arrow on the scope magnification for your 30-06. I love my scope it is awesome to shoot with . AG -
I am just going to get one of those machines that they advertise on TV that you hook up to your muscles and it delivers electrical impulses. I figure if I put it on a new muscle group every night and sleep with it on that I will look like Arnold Schwarzeneggar by Oct. If they sell it on TV it has to work right??!! ag

I would have to disagree with the statement about the 257 wasting powder and having a loud muzzle blast, I reload and the loads are nothing spectactular as far as the amount of powder used, its a magnum caliber for crying out load, as far as the muzzle blast and kick, way less than a 270. AG

Here is Brads well informed comment from the previous post------- Yes, but when the 2nd amendment has failed us time after time with murder, maybe its time change it like many amendments have been changed before. By the way I went studied goverment at ASU and the only reason that law was written, was to protect us from the British if we ever needed to again! I think we are safe now. NO MORE GUNS.--------- He did hit a nerve and it is because he is typical of the misinformed jerks that spout rhetoric with absolutely no basis!! How much time has he spent really researching the issue here? I would say virtually none so here you go bud, time to get educated, OH and not only did I study at NAU, I GRADUATED!!! First if you are going to spout off about government and how you studied it at ASU, maybe you really should have done so. Reading the student council section of the ASU school newspaper does not count. Your first statement about the 2nd amendment failing us with murder after murder-- WRONG. You have seen the bumper sticker, "if you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns" well that means that you will be unprotected in your home and you including your family will be unable to protect yourself. Guns are a fact of life, they will always be here legal or not. Dont believe me , look at drugs, they are illegal aren't they. The laws have sure cut down the drugs in this country now haven't they!!! The other thing is how many murders are actually perpetrated with guns? How about knives? Cars? Barehands? baseball bats? Rocks? Shall we outlaw them as well? HMM!? If someone is going to kill someone that is all that matters, they will find a way to do it gun or no gun!! The problem here is that the people who commit these crimes have failed us!! They would have killed regardless in most circumstances and the gun was just the handiest thing available. So you are incorrect about the 2nd amendment failing. Your 2nd statement is 100% ABSOLUTELY, COMPLETELY WRONG. If you really knew your history you would know that the 2nd amendment was actually a proposed part of the Bill of Rights in 1787. It was introduced to prevent a tyrannical government from using its armies to politically control the nation! Our nation was protecting itself from itself!!! A well armed militia will always overcome a federal army!!! No matter how big!! This was BORROWED from England where the right to keep and bear arms was used in a similar circumstance. Initially people there were required to keep arms in every household, then as the state was corrupted by the church, only rich landowners could own guns and then only rich non Protestant land owners could own guns. At that time a Bill of protection was formed to allow all people to keep and bear arms and thus protect themselves against tyranny in their home country. True Democracy in action, the government became accountable to the people again for awhile. Well in 1787 a little thing called Shays Rebellion(you studied history and Government at ASU right Brad? If you dont know what that is , call one of your old professors or actually Hey novel idea, open a book and read it!!) The government was not able to suppress it as they could not mount an effective federal response. This led to the formation of the federalist and anti federalist parties. The anti Federalists were against an army with no civilian control as it was a threat to Democracy. They were able to form a compromise(THE MASSUCHUSETTS COMPROMISE look it up) with the Federalists to add the right to keep and bear arms and have a standing militia to the Bill of Rights. They did this and it was amended several times and actually appears as the 2nd amendment as we have it today!!!! IT HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR FEAR OF ENGLAND OR THEM ATTACKING US AGAIN(someone should have studied a little harder!!!!!) So little man, the next time you would like to bend my ear about government and amendments and so forth, you better bring a full box of ammo to the argument and leave the box of bullsh-t at home!! Because it stinks and frankly so do people who are uninformed, misinformed and uneducated about topics that they pretend to be well versed on!!! Go back to school and learn something about the history of the great country which you live in!!! TO everyone else sorry about taking up the post space but now Brad can determine his opinion on historical fact rather than what he can contrive just to make a point. GOD BLESS THE USA!!!!!!!!!! AG

Sweet, Makes me miss my old hometown of Flag!!! ag

As far as what they reintroduced they are exinct. AGriz-- there may be some in Mexico, but the strains they crossed here are not pure bred. they had one line that was and they mixed it with another that was not and in the 80's they stated they would not even use that lineage, and then lo and behold they did use it mixed it with the pure strain and that effectively ended the pure blooded strain, now they are no better than inbred dogs. I reload 100 gr ballistic tips but have been considering switching to nosler accubonds. However, the ballistic tips are performing so well that I may just keep shooting them, 3 animals last year one at 477, one at 400 and one at 250 and none of them took a step after being hit. I would consider reloading for someone else, but this year my 2 oldest kids are hunting with me and I will be reloading for them as well. If you have any more questions pm me. AG

If you want a .25 mag get a 257 weatherby, you can pick up a vanguard relatively cheap and if you reload the ammo is not bad, does not really kick much and is super accurate. I think the 25 wssm is struggling with popularity a little and so it may become hard to get factory ammo for it eventually. I switched to a .257 last year and it instantly became my favorite shooting rifle hands down. I do reload however and shells are about 40 a box or more if you dont reload. Just my .02 worth. Good luck AG

When I lived in Flagstaff in the 90's some friends of mine found a blind mule deer fawn standing in the middle of the road so they took it to the game and fish office so it would not get hit by a car and the officer just took it out back and killed it. That seems pretty bad but it would have died anyway, however my buddies were not real thrilled about it. But yeah man that is a tough call to have to let that thing suffer that way. AG

az4 life, He pushed multiple buttons actually. I really cant stand those holier than thou people who dont even really grasp what they are arguing about. Especially when they say they know something because they took a class or studied it and they are completely wrong! Then they are lying to me and that is another thing I really cant stand!! ag
