Hahaha good call. I guess it's time to change that. Would I drive that far to shoot wabbits........probably. Heck I'd crawl across a half acre of naked ladies to shoot a 100 inch whitetail. Yes..... but how LONG would it take you? ag -

you might find people a little tight with their info on 16 d, by the time you drive over from phoenix (at least 180 - 200 round trip I am guessing) and scout in non productive areas a few times it would have just been cheaper to call Tommy at gilawilderness and have him line you out. He will get you right into some good areas with good animals. Anyway, your dime, spend it how you like!! ag

Well we floated our new fishing boat last night , I took all 4 of my kids( ) ranging from 6-11. My son got a crash course in using the trolling motor so I could go park the truck and trailer. Other than the fact that my 6 year old was yelling that she thought the boat was sinking, he did a good job. So I climbed in and away we went. The bow mounted trolling motor worked great once I got the right foot pressure going(few very sharp turns!! We got to the anchor and it was good and dark now and put over the lights. My 6 year old has now decided that boat is definitely sinking and she wants to go back home and pee, So my 10 year old girl catches the first fish and of course we HAVE to keep it, so then the race was on, we caught several fish, my 6 year old trout slapped me in the side of the face(she was swinging her fish over to me to get it off the hook, except I was setting the hook on one and was not looking!!!) we had one fish swim under the boat while hooked and get tangled with another ones line, my kids all learned the hazards of the fish flipping around on the line in the boat while pooping(several spray marks on everyone), they learned that fish do bleed(and spray while flipping!), they learned to not unhook your pooping fish while holding it over your open bag of doritos! and consequently learned what fish poop tastes like! My oldest daughter learned that while fighting the biggest fish of the night, dont let it hang over the lake while waiting for dad to get if off the hook(still swimming at this moment), And most of importantly, pee before you get on the boat!! What I learned-- That what I paid for the boat was the best money I ever spent!! ag

I hope NM is more successful for me than Oregon, did not get drawn there. good luck. ag

So how does the color screen and all the extras affect your battery life? Mine seem to last about 2-3 days if I leave it on the whole time. ag

I have the rino 120s and they are awesome, the position beaming is great, I imagine the 130 are a step up and what is great will only get better the more dinero you spend. Make sure you get the ear buds and small microphones for stalking. If you are only getting one, it would not really make alot of sense to spend the extra money since you will not be beaming your position to anyone. They work great for keeping tabs on younger hunters and friends. I dont think the color screen is that important. I would not hesitate to buy these babies again. ag

So as I was looking at the NMDGF site praying for early posting of the draw I saw the link to the proposals for next year. Among the most surprising is that there is a recommendation to make all off range oryx over the counter and turn the Barbary sheep hunt into a draw. I think the oryx proposal could be bad because the intense hunting pressure they will get will put them on the private ranches and that will be the end of that! Unless you want to pay a premium to hunt them(better than going to Africa I guess though). The Barbary sheep, well that may make it a better hunt if they regulate the kill better, their concern is increasing hunter numbers and decreasing sheep. ON ANOTHER NOTE, Our esteemed G and F commissioner , M(y) H(heart is in minnesota). "Dutch" ( I smell like a rotten)Salmon, was in that esteemed waste of paper known as the silver city daily press-- talking about his new pet project, reintroducing otter to the Gila. Now that he ahs the Gila trout in recovery(at the expense of who knows how many game fish) He would like to restore the River otter to its natural habitat in the Gila( and let the natural predator eat his little Gila Trout fishies!!) they were going to do it last year but had a fatality in the trapping of the otters, but get this, they were going to try to get some otter from AZ as they had some NUISANCE otters in the Verde River(which I have seen by the way!! ) or transplant some from MO. Now these otters are nuisance there, so lets transplant them to the great state of NM and they will be so happy to be in the Gila eating Gila trout, they will no longer be a nuisance!!! Oh by the way , his reasoning initially was that by introducing the River otter back into the Gila they will control non native game species, Well unless they have some super intense dolphin training program for these otters, I cant really see them swimming up to a gila trout and thinking, " Hmm that is a native fish species, therefore I can not eat it, oh well ho hum, guess I better go find me a brown trout to eat" , SO dont get me wrong I have absolutely no issue with otters in the Gila and if they eat all the Gila trout, I really dont give a crap, I just think it is hilarious that the commission is working in circles down here, what will happen is it wil somehow be the fishign pressure that has ruined the gila trout recovery, not the little brown only non native fish eating otters, and we will lose fishing access to the recently opened areas of the GILA. Ok I have now stepped off of my soapbox and Elvis has left the building!!! AG

proposed regs for 09-10

J-, The problem is that they are territorial to a certain extent and once a good population is established they are going to push out the younger animals and these young otters will start establishing populations in different watersheds. It just seems like they are doing this crap to keep themselves in jobs(kind of like the grey wolves) Anyway, I dont think it is a matter of if, but truly when the otters get to that particular watershed area, are they going to kill them? or transplant them, or decide it is not worth it for a little native trout? ag -
Only 9 more days!! Of course the last few years they have had server problems and there you sit! My CC never gets hit early(of course I never get drawn for anything but deer! ) I hope this year there is alot of green on my online account, but it would be even better if it was really green on my kids accounts! I also put in for antelope in Oregon and the results there come out on the 20th. Good luck to everyone!! AG

All I can say is how AWESOME is it that your wife chose to go fishing for your anniversary!! It is great that she likes to share that with you!! It is also fitting that she caught the biggest fish!! AG

I just traded my old 2800 in on a new one and man is it way better designed. I thought my old one was good, ,but the new one is awesome, my only complaint is that the bladder net is a little to small for my big old water bladders. I got half the price in trade in on a 4 year old pack. They also got rid of the big flap on the main compartment and that was why I switched packs. I think for the money they are a bargain especially with the customer service. AG

there are several types of spinal surgery that you can have, if the disks are bulging, herniated or pinched, they do what is called a laminectomy to decompress it . THis is by far better than a fusion, you cant do any heavy lifting for several weeks but usually are asymptomatic as soon as you wake up. Now if you have spinal changes such as arthritis and degenerative disk disease, scoliosis etc, they do fusions. Bone regardless of where it is at takes 6 weeks to heal. The titanium plates that they use now adays are awesome and last forever. However, there is always a chance that you can loosen your fixation(screws) or plate with heavy physical activity ie, hunting , running , weight lifting etc. They can also rod your back now as well, 2 rods along your spine, for serious injuries. Basically it all depends on how bad the back is and what the root of the problem is, the less they do the quicker you get better. You have gotten good advice, research your doc, get a 2nd opinion, 3 if they dont agree. My wife had a cervical decompression and c1 laminectomy at Barrows for a congenital problem, the surgeon was awesome, the after care in st joes kind of sucked. I would however go to Barrows in a heartbeat for any type of spinal or neurosurgery. Good luck. adam

THERE , THERE, LADIES NO catfights allowed on this forum!! ag -
They should just repeal all the game laws that were passed while that dumb a-- Johnson was gov. They should not be able to just go out and kill at the drop of a hat, the game and fish could have trapped and transplanted them , there were a lot of other options that could have happened. It is insane that the landowners(who for the most part I respect, as well as their rights) can just go out and kill that many animals for crop damage. We need to contact a state reps etc and let them know how we feel, game and fish cant do anything about it. What a waste of a beautiful animal. I would not shed a tear if that guys wheat field burnt up or froze, he deserves it. ag
