Fished Powell Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Caught 50, 51 and 53. All SM plus one small LM and one walleye. Hit by a huge storm Sunday at 2:30 and almost died. 5 to 6' waves in the channel and my Champion speared one of them and filled the boat with water. I turned around and went with the wind to a cove and changed into rain gear and hid out for an hour. Died down to 3' waves and 3 miles later the prop hub spun on me. Went into a cove and backed her in and put my spare prop on. The Merc 250 got us back in good shape after that. Glad I had the spare prop and a new bilge pump. All good and a fun trip. The biggest SM were 2.90, 2.80, 2.76 and 2.26.

Coffeeman- we fished the same Tournament of Champions on Mead and came back in that storm. The boat in front of me disappeared into every trough and the waves were huge. Scared the shoot out of us but we made it.

I had a 175 Tracker Pro with a 115 Merc. I found it a little too tippy for me. Decent boats but not the best for any kind of big waves. I have a Champion 203 with a 250 Merc and it is a great boat. Stable and fast. Had some huge waves at Powell last week and made it home. You have to look for rotted transoms in any older glass boat. Hairline cracks, brown ooze from the water and bolt holes and a dull thud when you tap on them. My Champ is a 2004 and had only 260 hours on the motor when I bought it. Great boats but hard to find a good one. Good luck.

Not going to be a great year for water but there is plenty in there to get lost every day. 🙂 Much better quality fish this year and they puked up a lot of shad and crawdads.

Last year I went down the rough road from Bargaman park past wild horse almost to the 61 tank and had birds all over me at first light.

Just hope they are hot and horny. If they are and you do some calling just at dark around the area you should get a few gobbles. Set up next morning in the dark and call at first light. I use an old box call as it is fairly loud then if the bird moves closer I use a mouth call to get them in. Once they commit to moving towards you you have a good chance at killing. The wind is a pain but they will still respond.

Ducey needs to get a set of balls and open the boat ramps at Powell. They closed all the campgrounds which makes sense but the boat ramps and a 188 mile long lake? Just like Obama did for the shutdown. Put their boot on the neck of the American people.

Daughter just called and said Payson has their second case of Covid. A WalMart checker. That little town could get hit hard with only 40 hospital beds and 4 ICU rooms.
