Little help with safety question at a city of phx business
Ringer replied to hoghntr's topic in The Campfire
Gee, let's call the feds and put the old ladies at the history museum in jail. Call Lerner "N Rowe and sic them on the old gals to get their social security. I hate OSHA with a passion. All they want is to make money. Maybe just write the museum and chew them out a bit. It is supposed to be a learning experience for the kids. As in learn not to go with Dad to the tractor ride. -
10 out of 12? You dirty @#%$&@. I'm putting in with you next year so you don't get drawn.
-
OK, here is the truth. I am just pissed off that this state doesn't make people who draw wait 3 years to draw again. I think it is just basically unfair. I know my chances of a bull tag in 5BS are not likely before I die. I never have shot an elk with my bow or my ML that was running in to a call. I creep around in the dark and look for a hoof or an antler and on occasion just get dumb lucky and wander around and look up for a perfect broadside. You can have the November archery hunts. They are easy to draw for a reason. That and I do love to call elk and talk to them. That is part of the fun of archery. I will likely go back to applying in NM even though I think their system is more screwed up than ours. Anyway another year with no sunshine for us and I quit the Skoal yesterday so I am going to rag on these boards until you all commit suicide to improve my odds next year.

You go out of state or hunt the crap units. I think the rules for G&F to make you a resident should be "lived in Arizona for at least 50 years.

I just don't give a crap any more. 30 years ago we got a tag for elk every year. I just missed a bull tag with 8 points in 5BS and my hunting buddy who is only 66 missed a cow tag in same with 5 points. No way are we going to live long enough to draw again. I am just going to hunt one more bull without a tag before I die off and can still pull a bow. I will even write poacher on the back of my pack so the dorks at G&F can figure it out. I will be the old man that is dragging his left leg around and flipping all the flatlanders the bird. Now I know how the natives felt when all the white eyes moved in and took all their stuff. Go ahead and take my hunting priveleges away for life. You already did that.

I have made a lot of box calls out of exotic woods but the one I use is an old Lynch box call. They sound sweet and not too shrill. I would buy a box call and one or two diaphram calls and that should do you for life.

Drive around the roads just at dark the night before the hunt. Stop and use a box call a few times and listen for gobbles from roosted birds. mark the spot you hear them. Get up at 3:30 and make it to where you know the bird is on the roost. Hike in towards him but not very close. Sit the kid down under a tree and be quiet until just as it lightens up a bit. Make a few calls on the box or mouth call and listen for the gobble. Wait 10 minutes and do it again. If he sounds closer then have your son put the gun up on a rest and get ready to shoot. They can cover a mile in a very short time. When he shows do one or two quiet clucks and blow his brains out when he puffs up.

I agree with you on the card dates. How smart do you have to be to look at the date on the front of the card before you apply?

I fished Roosey two weeks ago and there must have been 200 carp on the surface in the back of the sherrif's cove. Nothing big but a lot of targets.

I used to get my bird every year in unit 10.

We used to have a lot that faced a T intersection in a neighborhood. Had a few times when there were deep tire marks along the yard and the same next door. Had a couple of huge granite rocks delivered and half buried as part of my landscaping. One morning I found tracks, a bumper and part of a muffler and it never happened again.

I used to take my customers down to Palmas De Cortez in Los Barilles just north of Cabo. Great condos on the beach, great food and good cruisers and captains. I felt it was very reasonable for the quality of fishing and lodging.

Buds from Oregon and I bought a trailer at Lazy JR Ranch in Tonto Basin. They both live in Oregon so guess who did all the work? New paver patio, aluminum full length awning, new appliances, new A/C, new water heater, new toilet, new subfloors and tile. It is just about perfect so now they want to sell it after both had surgeries. Go figure. It is a 36' 1986 Wilderness 5th wheel that has been on the lot for the last 20 years. Big propane tank in front and the electric runs us $13 a month. It is on the best lot in the park with 2 big trees for shade. Right behind the Butcher Hook so you can crawl home if you need to. Call Garth at Lazy JR if you want to see it. We are asking $6500 and the rent on the sopace is $180 a month. Very cool place.

5BS bull elk with 7 points early archery. Thanks.

It doesn't matter. If we are not required to do any sort of ID check when selling a firearm then that is that. If you want to ask if they are a resident then have at it.

I had one look up a hill at me when I was walking the woods. I froze and gave a few clucks on a mouth call. he ran up to 20 yards and was dead opening morning. On another hunt we went back to camp early at around 10. Drinking a beer and decided to call. Huge gobbler called back up the meadow from me. I walked the tree line and gave a few clucks and shot him dead. Both were on opening morning. If they are talking and hot you don't need to be a turkey hunting god to kill one. Very fun to hunt.

Price reduced to $5500. Everything works and the place is ready to move in. If your old lady kicks you out of the house there are plenty of single women with no teeth in the hood.

We have a large lighted Christmas tree. I paid $1000 for it ten years ago. I has a heavy duty black bag that pulls down to the bottom so the tree can unfold and it pulls up to bag the tree. The bag and stand are always on the tree. Colored lights and very real looking. We are old with no kids so we are going to a much smaller tree. This one is 6' wide at the bottom and 9' tall so you need some room and high ceilings. When bagged it is basically a 24" wide tube. $250 or trade for a .38 S&W snub nose plus some cash. 480-620-2853

Sorry, chair is not big enough for your fat butt.
-
How about $150. You got enough for that? This is not a WalMart special. More like for the lobby of the Fairmont.
-
OK, make me an offer.

I use an old Lynch box call to roost them and for the first calls in the morning. I use a diaphram call when i hear the gobbles get closer. They can run a mile in a few minutes and usually come in hot. I use a turkey choke and 3.5" winchester turkey shells. Fun hunt and good luck.

Finally drew a tag for something! Got hit on my card last night for turkey so keep checking. Good luck.
