A couple of friends and I would like to pop over NM and try to hunt up some feral pigs. There are a few in AZ, but I'm thinking we'd have a better chance in NM. Does anyone have any general info or know a rancher who might want some some respectful and responsible hunters to clean out a few pigs? We are not into a guided hunt but would be willing part with some $$ for a good location and quick "how to" talk. Thanks Mark

Happy Birthday Buddy! I know that you are having a wonderful day with your family out in the snow! Mark

Up until five years ago, I had never met mike personally, just through PMs. Then, my 10 year old son drew a turkey tag in 22, Mike's favorite unit. Mike took me all around 22 showing me turkey hot spots. These same spots were also his coues hot spots. He hardly knew me, but he trusted me with his coues spots. I was completely humbled by his trust. Mike had a heart of gold, and an endless passion for coues, both with rifle and bow. There will be a giant void on this forum. Goodbye, Mike. Mark

Mike, you were a wonderful friend. My prayers to your family. Mark

Congrats Matthew! What a buck and a fun story. I like the part when he ducked as the cars passed by! Mark

So.... let me get this straight: You can buy fireworks in Phoenix, but you can't set them off in Phoenix. Must has something to do with the massive tax revenue that will be generated? Mark

Cibola Juniors Waterfowl Hunt
bowsniper posted a topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
My son Daniel and I attended the Cibola Juniors Waterfowl Hunt and had a blast! G&F, Ducks Unlimited, AZ Outdoor Sports and a whole bunch of Volunteers did a fantastic junior camp. These people dedicated a lot of time and effort to teach the kids and dads about waterfowl hunting. They sure got Daniel and me hooked! We also got to meet and hunt with NRS and his son Kolin. Daniel got lucky and scored a goose and a pintail duck, and several other kids scored lots of geese and ducks. Special thanks to Courtney Shanley of AZGF, Kevin O'Connell, State Chairman of Ducks Unlimited, and Tom Slaughter, President of AZ Outdoor Sports. Kevin is the ultimate guide, and after Tom spent a half an hour instructing Daniel how to shoot a shotgun, Daniel was able to hit pieces of shot up clay birds after the first shooter. Courtney is the Wildlife Manager at Cibola. Mark -
I'm taking my 10 year old to the Cibola Junior Waterfowl camp in a few weeks. I am clueless how to hunt duck and geese, so the camp is really for me, I'm just using my kid to get in! He will using a 20 ga. with 3" 2 shot. Any suggestions on what size choke I (I mean he) should use? Thanks!! Mark

What size choke?

OH PLEASE!! What a load of crap! What planet have you been living on? The FS does NOT have to get "approval" from any public organization. They just do it! And when it is something that may get a lot of attention, the FS asks for "public input" to define "alternatives", then they just do what they want, the old FS "Preferred Alternative". Mark -
So what happens if they get a "B"? I can understand being strick on Ds and Fs but only an "A"? As long as my kids get good grades (a,b,c) then that is fine but no Ds or Fs. It depends on the kid's potential. If the kid is very capable of A's, then with a B or two he stays home. If my kid get's straight A's, then I'll let him hunt on a Friday, or maybe take him skiing on a weekday. Mark

btw, whose your daddy? Is he on cwt.com? Mark

I bet that missing the hunt will be harder on your dad than it will be on you. Your dad wants to take you hunting much more than you want to go hunting! This is tough to understand now, but when you are a dad, you would make the same decision. If you are flipping burgers for a living, you will not have the time or money to take your kids hunting. Improve your grades, go hunting next year, get a good education and job, and then hunt all you want! Mark

http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2010/10/...mocrats/?hpt=T2 Election already over for Democrats? Posted: 01:53 PM ET FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty: There are only seven days to go before the midterm elections, and President Obama has a quiet day at the White House. Maybe too quiet. On his schedule: only meetings with advisers and Cabinet members. No campaign rallies. No fundraisers. Howard Kurtz writes in "The Daily Beast" that heading into the midterms, the White House feels so beat up by the press and unable to push its own narrative that its gone into "bunker mode." "What's fascinating is the belief that the bully pulpit has been permanently downsized, forcing the leader of the free world to shout for attention in a cacophonous world." And it's not just President Obama who seems to be feeling the pain here. Bill Clinton spoke at a campaign event the other day in a high school gym in Detroit that was nearly two-thirds empty. When was the last time Clinton spoke to an almost empty house? Even some Democrats are voicing their frustration. Frank Caprio, who is running for governor in Rhode Island, says President Obama can "take his endorsement and really shove it." Lovely. This after the president didn't endorse him. And there are plenty of reasons for all this angst among the Democratic Party. The conventional wisdom is that Democrats are in for a real bruising next Tuesday. A new USA Today/Gallup Poll shows Democrats face a record "enthusiasm gap." Only 37 percent of Democrats say they're more enthusiastic about voting this year than usual - compared with a whopping 63 percent of Republicans. Polls also show congressional Republicans holding their lead in generic ballot match-ups against Democrats.

Here's some real hope!

Go ahead, rain on my 2 second parade of hope! Mark PS: Remember, "gay" really means happy, not homosexual. The word "gay" was hijacked by the homosexual agenda to attempt to normalize the abnormal. -
Such a tempting thread. Don't even get me going. Mark

Way to go Grant! Way to stick in there for three long days! That cow will be some good eating! Mark

I just got back my lion that I killed with my bow last September. Jim Hartsock at Southwest Wildlife in Scottsdale did an incredible job and I could not be happier! Here is the short version of the hunt: Lion trotted across narrow shooting lane while I just happened to be in full draw. Crawled down from my treestand six hours later and found him a few yards away. Here is the long version: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...=15146&st=0 My poor German Shepard, she will never get used to this mount! Thanks for reading! Mark

I'm sitting here watching it pour rain, worrying that we may not be able to get through all the mud for my boy's youth elk tag on Friday. I have never done much 4 wheeling in mud, so I am wondering: Would tire chains on a 4 wheel drive be much help getting through the mud? Thanks, Mark

Thanks guys, we'll give it a try. Mark

Great job , Clay! Way to stick in there! Mark -
Actually that is the entrance hole. The arrow went diagonally over to his shoulder and did not pass through. I was using Rage 2" expandables. The mount was going to cost me $3000 and a divorce, but I renegotiated and got it for $3000 and new flooring and paint for the house. So in the end it all cost me $13,000 Mark

Congrats buddy! You deserve him, you worked your butt off for him! Mark
