Need a good body shop - BFG Tire Separation
bowsniper posted a topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hey guys, I had a BFG tire separate on the highway (on the way back scouting for coues - couse realted topic!) that tore up my F350 Super Duty pretty badly. Can someone suggest a good body shop on the west side of Phoenix? BFG is still trying to decide if they will pay for the damage. Thanks, bowsniper -

The AZ One Shot Challenge
bowsniper replied to aintnopilgrim's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Some of you guys are pretty quick to try to put all hunters into a single box, and then condemn them for their "unethical" actions when they hunt outside of your box. Not to boast, but to make a point, I will tell you about a spike carp I killed at 565 yards. Before you condemn me as an unethical hunter because I killed a spike and took a long shot, maybe you should here more... I had never harvested a deer before, and had been on 7 deer hunts without getting an "ethical" shot. So was it "ethical" that an adult killed a spike for his first deer? I had my 300 WM ballistically mapped out to 1000 yards. I could get the range, check my field card, dial in the turrent knobs on the scope, and be 100% sure that the trajectory was perfect. I could consistently hit a vital sized area out to 700 yards. I also had a spotter who watched the animal drop and guided me to it after the shot. Hunters who think that it's "unethical" to shoot over 400 yards should take a trip out to Ben Avery shooting range. There are guys out there that can drop a bullet into a 5" circle at 1000 yards all day. Anyway, I took up archery and started hanging out at water holes. Is that "unethical" to hunt water holes because I don't have the skill to spot and stalk a coues for a 30 yard shot? What about rifle hunters hanging out at water holes? Are they unethical? Maybe they can't shoot accurately past 100 yards, so a water hole is their only option. There was a thread a few weeks ago where several people condemned food baiting as "unethical". Why is food baiting more "unethical" than sitting a water hole? (water hole baiting) A deer in this state has alot more places to get food than it does for water. All hunters skills and experience levels are different, so how can all hunters be accountable to the same "ethical" standards? bowsniper -
It crashed my browser and I had to re-install it. Was this sabotage by a hacker?

I have never used one, but I have wondered about them. I have always been taught, by some very good instructors, to keep your eye on the front sight, and the target, blurred out of course, behind. The way I understand this type of sighting device, you would need to look away from the front sight, however brief, and that would be a bad thing. But like I said, I have never tried one. Post your question on http://forums.eders.com/ I am sure you can get a bunch of opinions there. Bowsniper

I recently learned that bowhunting is banned in the United Kingdom. We have to be careful, I'm sure that's their agenda for the US. bowsniper -
Hunting Accidents

desertsheep, that's some fancy hardware bud! It almost looks like the doc left some extra parts in there! As long as were on fish hook accidents... I was about 8 years old, and I was casting my bamboo pole with a big hook and worm on it. It caught on something behind me and I heard my sister scream. I turned around to see the hook stuck in her eye lid and the worm squirming in eye. I wasn't too worried about her eye, but I was pretty worried about my butt! -

Here's a picture of my wrist after my tree harness failed last August. I leaned back on the lineman type harness and fell 25 feet when the latch failed. The wrist doesn't work too well these days, but I can still shoot my bow. What else matters? bowsniper -

Taking our boys on their first big game hunt

On Friday, bowhunter4life (Mike) and I took our boys on their first big game hunt at Big Horn Ranch in Riverside, CA. The boys both shot Rams and had a blast! Here's a picture of Mike's son Jared with his ram. He shot it with a .243 at 80 yards. -

Here's a picture of my son Troy with his ram. He shot it with a 3006 at 40 yards. This is a great place to take your kids on their first hunt! Much better that they get buck fever here than on some buck it's taken years to get a shot at. Next time we go out we hope to have them hunting with their bows. Bowsniper -

Interesting that the NRA supports her. Besides not being a "sportswoman", her resume looks very weak. I can only conclude that she is one of the Governor's buddies. bowsniper -

I don't have any faith in the Python-lock. Wire cutters (or a cowboy with a knife) can remove the Python pretty easily. I use a custom steel shackle and a chain. It would be very difficult to remove, but the frustrated thief could still destroy the cam with a big rock. It's gunna happen sooner or later. bowsniper
