It's not good to put salt so close together. While you are sitting one, they will be hitting the other. I would put salt a least a few miles apart from each other. A game cam would be very helpful, if you can, invest in one, it will save you a bunch of time. Successfully jumping a coues buck with a bow seems impossible to me, but I'm sure (maybe) someone has done it at least once. Mark

That's his hobby. His real job is a bowhunter! Mark

I finally killed the buck I have been chasing for a year

AzP&Y: I wear Scent Lok, and I have spent a lot of money on it. But the more I use it, the more I think that it has little or no affect. Mark -
The only problem with getting such a big buck for your first one is that now you're going to want a bigger one next time! Congrats on a fantastic buck! It takes a lot of skill to spot and stalk a big buck like that! bowsniper

Here's how real men hunt! None of them fancy gears, cams, or carbon stuff! BTW, what's that thing in his right hand? bowsniper

Anyone have any stories from this weekend?
bowsniper replied to matthewp45's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Opening morning this crazy bear wanted to crawl up in my treestand with me. I threw pincones and sticks down at him, but he kept pawing at my tree ladder, making me real nervous. Finally I spit on him, and he took off fast! Bad breath can be a good thing! bowsniper -
Thanks guys for all your comments! Have a great weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing some great hunt photos next week! bowsniper

Here's my goal for this weekend. Do you think he would score 90s? Thanks and good luck to everyone this weekend, bowsniper

I only use to road to haul my stand equipment, so I'll be hiking in. About my wrist that I shattered a year ago when I was putting up the stand, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that it gives me a lot of pain when I use it for a lot of things, and I'll probably have to get it fused next year. The good news is that it doesn't hurt when I shoot my bow, and I should be able to shoot just fine with a wrist fusion. So instead of doing honeydo's for the wife, I just shoot my bow! It could have been much worse! No word from the boulder roller. Thanks for asking! bowsniper

Bowhunter tries to close road with boulders on Saturday
bowsniper replied to bowsniper's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
No word yet. It was kind of a shot in the dark, but it did start a good thread. BTW, if I were contacted by the hunter, I would certainly keep his identity confidential. bowsniper -
Is anyone else having problems getting these latest ones to play? bowsniper

Great looking buck (and son!) Congrats to him and the proud dad! bowsniper

As much as I'm out in the woods, I almost never see a buck. Does are much eaiser to run on to. Get your self a game camera, that's the only way to know what's really out there! bowsniper

I have been using Wildlife Research Scent Eliminator the past several years, but there are a bunch of new ones out there, and I'm thinking about changing. Dead Down Wind is Enzyme based, and looks interesting. Then there's White Lightning, Code Blue EliminX, Hunter's Specialties, and a bunch more. What's your favorite? bowsniper

Since carp are pretty dumb.... just kidding! If I had to guess, I would think that the scent would attract them to either. It would be interesting to put two down side by side and see if they prefer one over the other. bowsniper

I just went over to Cabelas in Glendale. Massive archery section! I'll keep spending everything I can at Corner Archery, but it's hard to imagine that Corner can stay open with Cabelas just down the street. Bummer! bowsniper

Based on a recommendation from Randy Ulmer two years ago, I switched to Rocky Mountain Snypers (mechanical, 1 3/8 inch cut). He uses them for all his hunts. I have shot and killed a pig and a coues and a turkey with them with excellent results. Full cuts on the entry wound. Before I killed the coues, I was so jazzed that I missed and hit him in the very end of the ear. The broadhead even expanded as it went through the ear, and gave me a full cut in the end of the ear. That sold me on the Snyper. I will be using them on elk without a worry, if I ever get a tag! bowsniper

I have the .44 special bulldog, and have never had any problems with it. I think that the the company is out of business, so getting parts could be a problem. bowsniper

Randy Ulmer writes the best technical bowhunting information and tips available. On top of that, he's very friendly and humble. Thanks for the link! bowsniper

These fake branches look like they could really help in a tree stand. Has anyone tried them? http://www.coversystem.com/ bownsiper

Check into a doublebull. I don't know their dimensions, but they are among the largest out there. bowsniper

Well it took 19 months, but I finally got my mount back. Here's a picture.....

I don't have one, but everyone I know says that they are the best blind out there. bowsniper

The mount was done by Mark Plunkett at Wildlife Creations, 602-863-3473. Right now he is running 2 years behind. bowsniper

bowsniper posted a topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Hey Guys, I just got a letter from Bowhunting in Arizona saying that my coues buck got 3rd place in the Biennial awards for 7/2003 through 6/2005! Sorry, I don't mean to boast, I'm just pretty excited! Thanks, Mark
