That's interesting.... treestandman and I both fell out of our treestands. Maybe it's some kind of head injury that we both got?? Mark

Nice buck, AWESOME!! Welcome to CWT! We can see that you have some issues, hunting them carp. But the good news is that if you stick around on the forum, we may be able to help you. We have cured many carp hunters, so there is hope for you! So stick around and we will have you wrapping your next deer tag around a coues! Mark

Way to go Mike, great buck! I know that you hunted hard for him! Don't worry, that other buck isn't going any place! Mark
-
Way to go Jared!! Looks like that you are all ready to go for your November Coues hunt! Mark PS: Nice rifle!

Great job Mike! You'll be too busy next year (coues, elk, antelope) to bother with turkey! Mark
-
I can relate to that one! Mark

Hey!! Here's a great idea for leonard and the fish police! Let's ban game cameras to increase hunter opportunity!! Mark

I sat in the tree 14 hours Friday. Saw one doe Saturday, I sat in the tree 6 hours. The wind was blowing so hard that I thought the tree would fall over, so I bailed out. Saw a spike. Sunday, things picked up late afternoon. I saw many does, and passed on two 70 to 80ish bucks. I was waiting for this guy: I finally saw him at about 150 yards. He slowly wondered over to about 25 yards. He was very suspicious. He was about ready to jump out of his skin, and I was about ready to jump out of my skin too. I thought that he might string jump, and I was so excited, I had my doubts that I could get a good shot on him, so I didn't draw. No way that I was going to lose this guy with a bad shot. He wondered off. That's ok, I know where he lives, and I"LL BE BACK! Mark

Josh, He's practically your pet. How could you kill him??!!

Don't wait too long, if leonard bans bait next year (or should I say when?), you won't be able to take him (legally) over that salt! Do you have pics of him in January? Seems like he might be hard to locate during the rut? Mark

Good thing that you are kidding. Remember that the big brother fish police monitor our posts! Mark

Even for the bunch of cool, friendly guys on this list, the immigration issue is a complex hot topic that is very polarizing. I missed the thread and I don't know what was said, but I sure hope that we can get over it and get Ernesto back on the forum. He's a great guy and he and his contributions will be missed. Mark -

Hey Jim, Congrats! Do you accept credit cards, or is it cash only? Ditto on Ernesto, he's a great guy and he will be missed. I missed the thread, so I don't know what happened. Mark -

Glad you like it, I hope that you will like all the other upcoming changes that will be dumping down on us. Stay tuned, I'm sure that something in leonord ordway's grandious vison for AZ hunting will hit you where you don't like it. Mark -
My 10 year old and I hunted this last year, and we had a blast. By that time, the deer should be pushed down into the lower elevations. You will be the second hunt in 12AW, so the does may be a little nervous. I would be great if your son could shoot prone out to 150 or 200 yards. Many kids were successful higher in the forest with closer shots, but we had a blast spotting and stalking in and around the burn areas. We saw lots of deer every day and got some shots, but did not connect. It was my boys first big game hunt, and he was a little dissapointed, but still had fun. Since then he's got a pig and a turkey, so he got over it. PM me if you want detailed info, and I'll dig the maps out. Mark PS Thanks Stan for the info on the hunt that you gave me last year!

Spending time in a tree stand ?
bowsniper replied to Big Browns's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I got to admit that I just like sitting in trees! I makes me feel like a kid in a treehouse! Mark -
This comment is bizarre, completely false, and irresponsible. It sounds like it came from a jealous, frustrated rifle hunter. In all the units that G&F identified (except for unit 1) the archery harvest was less than 30% of the rifle harvest. The average overall archery success in these units was less than 4.4% (Dick King number) How many guys would still go rifle hunting if the rifle success were less than 5%? Archery success might be a threat to some rifle hunters, but I doubt that it will kill all the deer so our kids can't hunt. Mark

Where did you get this information? G&F has made the same claim, but it has been pointed out by many at the so called "Public Input Meetings" that there is no bases or data to support this claim of "significant increase in archery harvest over the last few years". You are falling for the G&F miss-information used to justify whatever they want to do. Mark

Spending time in a tree stand ?
bowsniper replied to Big Browns's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Big time ditto for sound! I'd say 75% of the time for me I hear the soft, quiet steps of a coues before I see him. There is no way I would impeed my ears. I do read a book, but only turn a page after a scan of my shooting lane. I use a camelback with the tube right next to my head so I don't need to move to drink. Many times I don't eat all day so I don't make any unessesary sound. (or I'm too excited to eat) I pee into a plastic bottle (why take the chance?) Making noise will be your worst mistake, moving will be the second. Text messaging your other hunting buddies is a great way to pass the time and adds to the excitement. The vibrate mode on the phone won't scare the deer. I use a small blind that is about two feet high and wraps around the base of my stand to cover any movement of my hands/book. My bow hanger hangs my bow right out in front of me so that my draw hardly moves the bow from the hanging position. MOST IMPORTANT, USE A FULL BODY SAFTEY HARNESS!!! Good luck, be safe, an get that buck!!! Mark -
The last avitar made me upchuck! GRONG, start taking those meds, or you will never get better! Mark

Got a Coose mount back!
bowsniper replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hi Bret, I tried to send you a PM but your messager seems to be broke. Where is your shop, or do you have a web page? I'm hopeful for the August hunt, and I'm looking for a new taxi. This mount looks great, especially they eyes. I'm really picky about the eyes after I got my last mount back and was dissapointed. How do you preserve the velvet on August bucks? Thanks, Mark -
I would change Lenord Ordway back to Tice! Mark
