  1. That sucks! The FS gave the real reason that they are doing it : "the rancher permittee here, our range conservationist". That means public land welfare ranching. When has the FS ever cut a road for "weekenders and hikers and birdwatchers"!! Gimme a break! Mark

    Have you noticed?

It's just a nicer way to say it!! Kind of like "illegal alien" changed to "illegal immigrant" changed to "undocumented worker". What's next, "undocumented citizen" ? Or maybe just "citizen who just can't speak English"??
  3. Better check, I think that you meant the 4th amendment: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. 4. I never thought that I would be saying this, but I finally agree with lark on this one, he nailed it. A few years ago, I started a web page for Desert Christian Archers. (http://desertchristianarchers.com/) On the website, I put a whole bunch of hunting success pictures, along with hunter names. Despite being "so underfunded", someone at G&F had the time to verify that all the hunters in the pictures had tags. A few of the archery deer pictures were taken before the mandatory reporting started. G&F had the time to go out and knock on everyone of those guys doors, and hassle them about not reporting the kill. G&F ended up not being able to prove anything, but those guys were really hassled. BTW, a DPS friend told me that G&F cops are the most powerful cops in the state. They can write you up for anything, including a traffic ticket in downtown Phoenix. So when you let one in your house, don't think that he is just looking at your animals. If you let one in, anything is fair game. Mark
  5. About Michelle :Written by Dr. Paul L. Williams "In my own life in my own small way, I have tried to give back to this country that has given me so much," she said. "See, that's why I left a job at a big law firm for a career in public service, "... Michelle Obama No, Michele Obama does not get paid to serve as the First Lady and she doesn't perform any official duties.. But this hasn't deterred her from hiring an unprecedented number of staffers to cater to her every whim and to satisfy her every request in the midst of the Great Recession. Just think, Mary Lincoln was taken to task for purchasing china for the White House during the Civil War. And Mamie Eisenhower had to shell out the salary for her personal secretary from her husband's salary. Total Personal Staff members for other first ladies paid by taxpayers:Mamie Eisenhower: One-- paid for personally out of President's salary. Jackie Kennedy: One Roseline Carter: One Barbara Bush: One Hilary Clinton: Three Laura Bush: One Michele Obama: Twenty-two How things have changed! If you're one of the tens of millions of Americans facing certain destitution, earning less than subsistence wages stocking the shelves at Wal-Mart or serving up McDonald cheeseburgers, prepare to scream and then come to realize that the benefit package for these servants of Ms. Michelle are the same as members of the national security and defense departments and the bill for these assorted lackeys is paid by YOU, John Q.Public. Michele Obama's personal staff: One.. $172,200 - Sher, Susan (Chief Of Staff) Two.. $140,000 - Frye, Jocelyn C. One wonders why she needs so much help, at taxpayer expense. Copyright 2009 Canada Free Press.Com canadafreepress....com/index.php/article/12652 Yes, I know, The Canadian Free Press had to publish this, perhaps because America no longer has a free press and the USA media is too scared that they might be considered POLITICALLY INCORRECT….

    Michelle Obama

Sorry that I posted doctored up stuff. I guess that I really didn't need to bash her anyway. Just listen to her, or the old man, and they pretty much take care of bashing themselves! Mark
  7. What's worse? Fish cops in the field or fish cops on the internet? I dunno, but I do know that if you convert your jpeg to a gif, the picture will lose all the embedded data. From what I have seen with G&F, you are guilty until proven innocent. Mark

You guys crack me up!! Encouraging poaching on the internet! This is one for the stupid criminal files. It's like calling up the cops and warning them that you are going to rob the circle-K at 19th and Bell Rd. tomorrow. BTW, while you are at it, please post your social security number too! Mark

Thank you for praying for me

Prayers sent for your surgery tomorrow. Like I said in an earlier post, document everything with the local LEO and G&F. His negligence should not cost you and $$. You are paying enough with pain and surgery. If it was all his fault, it would seem right that he be financially responsible. If you were both at fault, then you both should be be financially responsible. Don't worry about fault right now, just get the incident documented for now, and get well. Plenty of time for finger pointing later, as long as it is DOCUMENTED. Mark

Thank you for praying for me

Wow! I am so sorry that happened to you. My prayers are with you. You SHOULD file a report with the local law enforcement, and G&F. That hunter was completely negligent and should have some consequences. I'm not saying to go out and sue him, but if you cannot be made whole again due to his negligence, you will wish that the whole incident were well documented. Please keep us posted. Mark

    global warming

I'm no scientist, and global climate and atmospheric science is pretty complex stuff, way beyond me. Like usual, there is probably lots of bs coming from both sides. The earth's climate has been changing for billions of years without us helping it. But common sense also tells me that putting billions of tons of crap into the atmosphere has got to have some kind of bad effect. Me thinks that the climate change is part of a natural cycle, but we are making it worse, and even if we do everything Al gore says to do, there is no stopping it now. Mark

    Game Camera Batteries

Eric, No disrespect intended, but I have never found a rechargeable battery, even the Ni-MH, that performs as advertised. Your numbers seem to be very wishful. Being an electrical engineer with a whole bunch of trail cams, I have done many experiments, and I keep coming back to lithium batteries. You can always get a great deal on Lithium batteries at costco or Sams club. When the technology improves and a reliable rechargeable is finally developed, I will be the first to convert. Mark

    Snow on Pinal Mtn.

Good plan. A friend tried to get up there today with 4wd and lockers. A mile before Sulfide Del Rey he pulled out a 4wd tow truck that got stuck going up to pull someone else out. He then went with the tow truck to help the original guy, and then had to pull out the tow truck again and the original stuck guy. They never even made to to Sulfide Del Rey. With all that snow, I am sure that the deer have pushed lower anyway. Mark

Any Bulls in the late archery yet?

This has been a well documented progression over the last five years. Back then, Leonard Ordway (game chief manager) first proposed reducing the rut hunt and and increasing the late archery bull tags in the same year. It was "proposed" to "increase hunter opportunity". Thanks to David Myrick and a few other guys, a survey was presented to G&F that showed that most bowhunters still wanted the rut hunt, and not "increased opportunity". We were able to fight off G&F that year. But the next year, G&F came back to the table with their own loaded, bogus, confusing survey, that "indicated" that bowhunters REALLY wanted more opportunity, not so much the rut hunts. So Brian, the new game chief manager, proposed to "just try it for three years", "G&F would just give bowhunters" the late hunt tags without reducing the rut hunt tags...........FOR NOW! But in three years, after bowhunters demonstrated how they wanted more "opportunity", by putting in for the late hunts, G&F would start to reduce the rut tags because the late hunts were "popular". If they were "unpopular", meaning that very few bowhunters put in for these late hunts, G&F would eliminate the late hunts. I still remember Dick King telling Brian that "if you offer the late hunt, bad as it may be, bowhunters will still put in for the hunt", and then G&F will have the bogus affirmation that bowhunters want to give up rut tags for the late hunt. It does look like this is happening. Bowhunters, quit putting in for these late hunts! Mark
