Any of you guys shot the Tikka t3 in the .270 or .300 wsm? How bad is the recoil?

Congrats on the buck. Next time be sure it is a buck b4 you fire. Does will wheeze and blow at you just like bucks.

I would guess a 14" outside spread on the buck on the homepage.

Some guy at Sports Authority was telling me his brother shot a coues buck in unit 32 that had a 30 inch spread. I told him that if it had that spread it was a mule deer not a whitetail. He told me he knew the difference between the two and it was definately a coues. He also told me mountain lions were getting into there coolers at night on his hunt. Bcoover, you sure this 20-25" inch wide buck isn't a carp? That is pretty unbelievable.

Just to clarify, when I say bear grub I am referring to manzanita berries,acorns,juniper berries,squawberries.

I do find it kind of interesting that Bear Mountain and AZ Sportsman hunting shops sell bear attractant however. I bet this is one of those things where you can ask a G&F officer if using scent for bear attractant is illegal and some of them will tell you it is legal, some that it is not, and some will change the subject. I guess it depends on what is defined as "substance"? Like TAM said, most of our pictures of bears came from springs in thick nasty country "full of bear grub". I took my boar this year over a spring at 17 yds. Not a very big one but since it was my first I decided to take him.

I think it is a mistake not turning your flash on.

I like to set mine about 3 feet from the ground preferably in a direction where it won't get direct sunlight. I usually set mine on 1 picture every 5-20 minutes depending if its on a trail,salt, or water. I use the cheap Stealth cams that are 59.99 at walmart and all of mine so far have worked just great. My buddy uses the Moultrie cams. He has had good experiences w/ them.

Bowsniper, T.A.M and I have set our trail cams over waterholes and trails in areas that have heavy concentrations of bear. We have gotten pictures of more than 10 different bears.

I've got pictures of 2 bucks visiting mock scrapes and one of them would score high 90's.

Traveler, I ran across a 100+ buck in unit 22 last Saturday. I believe the bucks are already starting pre-rut action. Good luck.

Farthest rifle shot for me was 30 yds at a carp. Never killed a coues w/ a gun YET. Never been on a coues hunt w/ a gun either.
