    Looking for quail

I always have seen tons of quail in unit 32. If you are willing to drive that far let me know and I will give you directions. Quail do nothing for me.

    Deer Lick Powder

During the rut in december/january coues whitetail bucks will do scrapes and rubs. A scrape is where they will scrape the ground with there hooves and maybe urinate. Walking through the woods in late december you should be able to spot some scrapes. It is just a 2-3 ft line usually next to a bush or tree made to mark territory. The rubs are when the buck rubs it's antlers on bushes or trees tearing off the bark. In december you should also be able to find fresh rubs also. A mock scrape could be made by using your hand or a stick and "pawing" the dirt to make it look like a buck was there. To top it off, pour a little deer urine next to the scrape or urinate there yourself. Give it a try.

    Lions or hunters.

Yeah, I do a lot of hunting in the "stupid national forest". Makes you wonder where they came up with that name.

    Lions or hunters.

Hey Tonto, are you aware of what your name means in spanish? No offense intended.

    Lions or hunters.

Maybe they could make a rule that juniors only can shoot spikes in certain units? My first deer was a spike and it was probably the deer I was most proud of.

    TIKKA T3 .270 WSM

AG, I took my magazine into Bear Mountain yesterday and they discovered that the magazine that had come w/ my .270 wsm was actually a .270 clip. Now that I have the correct clip it works just fine. I did email Berretta wanting to know if they had any other magazines that would perhaps hold more cartidges. I'll let you know what they say.

    Deer Lick Powder

Try hunting a treestand over scrapes. Or try making a mock scrape close to some salt. You'd be suprised!

    TIKKA T3 .270 WSM

The winchester .270 wsm rounds would not slide into the clip very easily at all. When I finally got them into the clip, the spring was not working correctly to push the other bullets to the correct spot. I will be going back to Bear Mountain to see about getting a new clip.

    TIKKA T3 .270 WSM

I shot my Tikka .270 wsm on Saturday. Very pleased w/ the accuracy. The kick was not bad at all. The clip that came w/ the gun did not seem to work correctly however.

Thanks for the reply. Do you use the manufactured recoil pad or did you have a different on installed?

    lion hunting

Nice job standman!!! Earlier on this year I made the same mistake AZ4life made. I was in a deep canyon and found myself 10 feet away from a lion with no weapon but my 4 inch blade buck knife! Man I was wishing I had my gun or even bow w/ me! I am assuming because of my muscular build he decided not to attack.

    23 coues

Bcoover, Man, you must be a great hunter!!! I wish I could spot at LEAST 10-12 bucks every time I went to my spot and find bucks that score 135 inches!!! I'm sure you are not exagerating either.

    weather conditions/gear

Predator, Congradulations on drawing the December hunt in 21! You are in for some good coues hunting. As you probably know, the hunters of AZ are still a little ticked about USO's greed. You have nothing to worry about with regards to your safety.

    jaguars in az

Wow Keith, I've never heard of anyone seeing one b4. What time of day was it? How close was it? Did you get a good look or was it fleeting.?
