One of my Hunting partners Felix, asked me to post his Hunt Story with Pics Hope you enjoy.. My story starts with the early November hunt in which my bro-in-law and I both had tags for unit 33. We were both accompanied by two special young hunters, Luis my 11yr old son and Diego my bro-in-law’s 11yr old son (great chat partners). We headed out on Thursday and had camp set by late afternoon. Well to make a long story short for this opening weekend, we both had no luck (saw no bucks). Talk about serious glassing for hours and not spot one single buck, saw a few does though. We took camp down on Sunday and drove back to town. Fortunately, I had a few more days to hunt before the end of the hunt (Thursday). My bro-in-law and I had decided to go out and give it one more try on Wednesday, Veterans Day. As we headed out early morning and hit deer country and just about an hour into our drive with the early morning dawn, I looked to my left and spotted a nice buck just trotting away from my truck about 20 to 25 yds. At that moment, I thru the truck in park grabbed my rifle and ran about 30 or so yards to see the buck running up the hill. I shot once and missed I racked another cartridge and set my bi-pod out and took a steady rest and shot just before he went over the hill. I didn’t know if I had hit him, so with my adrenaline going I ran up the hill but decided to slow down my heart rate just in case I had to take another shot. As I approached the area where I last shot him, and to my surprise he was down just behind a mesquite tree. My bro-in-law and Diego stayed behind at the truck and saw as things were unfolding. I then turned to my bro-in-law and gave him thumbs up. We were both exited on how nice the buck was. He immediately noticed he was a 4x5 as he was approaching where I was. After filed dressing and placing him in a large ice chest we headed out to fill my bro-in-law’s tag. Well just to move forward, on this single day we saw a total of 4 bucks, 3 of them were nice shooters and one was a spike that my bro-in-law took 4 hours after I had filled mine but that’s a story he would have to share. Thanks for taking the time to reading this story. Felix Armenta

Hope both of them are still around this season

I could be wrong but that first picture has me thinking??? Hybrid or Mule Deer ????

Wanted to post some pics from the last couple seasons not all of deer but pics from just being out. I got to the point where all i was wanting to do was take pictures and video instead of hunting. But i did learn alot from just that. Deer get alot closer to you when you dont have a rifle or bow in hand! [attachm ent=22074:4.jpg]I went during the weekend to help a friend out on his deer hunt in 2009. While walking down a rivine into a wash along a worn dow path we stumbeld into this dead head. This was one of two dead heads we found in the area the other one was found maybe quarter mile from the first one. The large one taped out around the mid 80's. We would have loved to see this buck alive during the season.
