A Wee Little Change in Our Country
Santana Outdoors replied to Rembrant's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
It is pretty simple stuff, there is a cost to everything. America flat out can't afford the health care they want! In 1862, in order to support the Civil War effort, Congress enacted the nation's first income tax law. It was a forerunner of our modern income tax in that it was based on the principles of graduated, or progressive, taxation and of withholding income at the source. During the Civil War, a person earning from $600 to $10,000 per year paid tax at the rate of 3%. 3%!!!!! If it would have started at 15 to 30%+ what do you think would have happened? -

WHY I WON'T GO TO MEXICO
Santana Outdoors replied to billrquimby's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
I will be going to Ensenada April 9th. If I stop posting, you will know why!!!! No Amanda didn't cut me off. The fish tacos are to die for!!!! Hopefully my brother a LA homicide detective can help keep us out of danger. I love it down there but you are right it is a very dangerous place and is what sucks is you can not take a gun with you. -
Found this in my front yard. Amanda, Thanks for the sticker. Since this is my hunting rig, I was going to put it on rear but I think it looks better on the tinted visor, what do you think?

Santana Outdoors replied to Browning'sCustomMeat's topic in Trail Cameras
Jermy Sorry to hear that. I wish they would all come out with a GPS so when they turn it on we know exactly where it is. I know Moultrie will do that but you do have to have the modem hooked up. I guess it costs too much. -
Congratulations, that's Awesome.

A statement on archery elk opening dates from the ABA
Santana Outdoors replied to AZMSK's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
My 2 cents! My calculated formula shows, hunter success is 5% luck, 25% timing, 20% weather, 50% is up to the individual. If they change it we will figure it out! As far as Archery goes, all hunters deserve a chance at hunting during the rut. I have had the opportunity to hunt the rut with a rifle, muzzleloader and archery. It just becomes harder and harder to draw a great tag. That's why I mainly hunt archery, or I should say put in for an archery tag. Everyone still has opportunities get a tag during the rut (at least 1 in a million). Does anyone know exactly what Game and Fish is trying to accomplish by changing? Was it just to change the hunt to fall later or was there more? -

swaro 15X56 SLC or Vortex Kaibab
Santana Outdoors replied to ghostchaser's topic in Optics and tripods
Swaros is what we use , last year I glassed up 3 large bulls at way over 3 miles, was able to tell they were very large, no one else that had other good optics could see the racks. Honestly they didn't have the Kaibabs so I couldn't compare them. Family friends son Nolan wouldn't had taken a 330 bull in this unit with so many tags if we didn't have the Swaros, we would have just passed on these elk since they were so far away. I have to recommend the Swaros if you can afford it and you hunt in Az or other areas you may be glassing long distances. -
Congratulations Tyler! Awesome hunt and story, this is what it is all about. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome. FX3 is a great call and very popular. I have been using the Phantom Pro series wireless call. Both I would highly recommend. Its more about just getting out there and trying different calls and techniques. Good luck. I sent you a PM Eric -

Tanners Big Mule Deer on video
Santana Outdoors replied to Santana Outdoors's topic in Youth Hunters
No tape. We would like to see it taped too. -
This is Gage Conway's brother (the youth that took the 124" Coues in one of my lasts posts) . Arizona Mule deer, very nice deer for an area that is not well known for big bucks. It must run in the family! I wonder if our kids know how lucky they are to have parents with the hunting skills that they do today? His father Chris took this footage and asked me to do a little editing for him. Hope you enjoy. Eric Tanner Conway's hunt, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT_2vRgAh1c
