    6x8 Archery Bull Video

I haven't watched this before. Great bull!!! The footage is really exciting. I was on the edge of my chair. Thank you for sharing this. WOW!!!!
  2. Another benefit of this trick is that as your trip goes on you have lots of cold water to refill your canteen or hydration pack, as the ice melts in the jugs. Just want to make sure you use clean jugs and good drinking water if you plan to do this. Even better For what it is worth...in addition to the frozen water in milk jugs I freeze milk, orange and tomato juice in the original containers as well as anything that isn't going to be consumed the first night or next day. All of this helps keep your camp food cold for an extended trip.

    CWT.Com Users Should Step Up

Earlier this week I tried to log into our website and received an error message. After trying to access CWT.com using 2 different browsers I sent a "HELP" email to Amanda. In typical fashion she came to the rescue. She also explained that the Discussion Forum has become so popular and widely used that the server couldn't handle the volume. Nice problem to have but....the only fix was a new server. Our favorite website is "free". That is somewhat of misnomer. Someone pays for maintenance and additional server capacity. Our SOMEONE is Amanda Moors. If you use this site and it has value or interest to you it is time to step up to the plate and make a donation. $5.00 or $10.00 would be or more would be nice. Use the PayPal button. It is quick and easy. If you don't use PayPal please send a check or money order to Amanda. Think about it. We burn a lot of powder and primers or bend and break a lot of arrows and don't think much about the cost. How about one of the best sources of information for our sport. Please join me and DONATE. Thanks

Need a AZ Topo? Free Download suitable for a GPS

I have been using the AZ Topo for 2 years. Great stuff. As Arizona Griz mentioned you can toggle back and forth between maps using the drop down menu in your Garmin 60 series. This is a menu that some of you may not have seen before. Once you know where how to find the drop down menu it is really handy to change maps in the field. It is also a real eye opener when you realize that there are trails shown on one map set that don't appear on another.....or the trail that is supposed to be "here" does not exist. I also use Garmin Southwest 24K , which is not free, in conjunction with the AZ Topo. The SW 24K is an excellent piece of software. Check it out also. It will fill in a lot of blanks when you are in the field. Yes this is a free download but as with all free access sites someone is supporting it. Make a donation and help this guy keep up his site. If you can't find the drop down menu in your Garmin send me a PM and I will walk you through it.

    Gotta Left Over 29 tag!

Unit 29 landowner access can be difficult. I suggest that you contact the Unit 29 Game Manager for advice. In some cases foot access is given with permission. Be prepared for some serious climbing and long days. Do your homework now before you drive down there. Also check with the USFS in Tucson about road closures due to the fire. If you hunt down there....buy a lion tag. Good Luck.

    Binocular magnification

I have 2 pairs of binoculars. I carry 10 X 40 Zeiss for walking around etc. There are great and I have had them for 20 years. In January I purchased a pair of 15 x 56 Vortex Kaibabs. They are an excellent. I spent a week using them for extended periods of glassing using both a tripod and a pair of steady sticks. As with the Zeiss glasses I experienced very little eye fatigue. My aging eyes don't like poor optics. Carrying the 15x56's with a good harness was no big deal. The price differences between Zeiss or Swarovski and Vortex is significant. I recommend the Vortex for the money spent.

  11. As I stated in my previous post on this forum....It never stops and will never end. Lark I hope you are the first to comment on this one. This week anti-hunting forces launched an assault on Congress. The Obama administration, Barbara Boxer (D) California, and John Tester (D) Montana are trying to pass one of the most harmful pieces of anti-hunting legislation in years. Anti-hunting groups and their friends in Congress added the language last Wednesday in a MUST-PASS appropriations bill to take away state management of wildlife. For the first time, this will allow anti-hunting radicals in San Francisco and New York to tell the people of YOUR STATE how to manage its wildlife. It is all being done in the name of allowing for management of wolves. DON'T BE FOOLED. According to Ryan Benson of Big Game Forever, the governors of Idaho, Wyoming and Montana met with the Obama Administration last week to finalize negotiations intended to return wolves to state wildlife management. Instead, the Obama Administration told the governors they planned on passing a different bill. The bill is dangerous for two reasons: (1) it takes away key constitutional rights of state wildlife management; and (2) transfers the authority to the Obama Administration to dictate to the states how to manage their wildlife. The Governors immediately rejected the bill and thought the issue was dead. Instead, Obama tried to sneak his language onto the spending bill last Wednesday. Ryan was apprised of the language and immediately began working to counter their efforts. The bill will likely go to vote this week. WE MUST STOP THIS FEDERAL POWER GRAB IMMEDIATELY. WE NEED YOUR HELP. We need YOU along with thousands of sportsmen from across the country to contact their members of Congress. Thousands of anti-hunters are calling and emailing their members of Congress-because they know that calling and emailing does work. Ryan Benson spent the last several weeks in Washington, D.C. working with Senators Hatch ® Utah, McCain ® Arizona, Barrasso ® Wyoming, Risch ® Idaho and other members of Congress to kill the Obama legislation and instead pass a bill that would return wolves to state wildlife managers with no strings attached. Arizona sportsmen have started to engage and we have helped Ryan make a difference in his pursuit on the wolf issue, but there's more work to be done. Every sportsmen state has hundreds of thousands of hunters and fisherman. We outnumber the radicals and we have friends in Congress who need your help. WE CAN WIN THIS BATTLE BY WORKING TOGETHER. ALL IT TAKES IS 2 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME. HOW YOU CAN HELP: (1) Send an email to all of your members of Congress. It just takes 30 seconds. Visit the website http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/home/; Click on the button "Take Action". Using your zip code the system will then help you automatically send an email to all of YOUR Senators, Congressmen and the Obama Administration; (2) Send this email to 10 friends and ask them to take action. You can use the "Tell a friend" tool at http://capwiz.com/biggameforever/home/; or simply forward this email; (3) Call Senator Tester's Washington D.C. Office at (202)224-2644. Be professional but tell them that (A) YOU DO NOT SUPPORT HIS BILL on wolf management; ( You DO support Senator Hatch's bill S.3919; and © let Senator Tester, co-chairman of the Congressional Sportsman's Caucus, know that you are disappointed that he wants to take authority away from the people of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and YOUR state to manage the state wildlife resources and give it to the Obama Administration

    vortex kaibab 15x56 binoculars

I purchased my Kaibab 15 x 56's in January and really put them to the test in February for a full week of glassing. I am completely satisfied with them. My regular carry binocs are Zeiss 10 x 40s. The Kaibabs are every bit as bright and clear. The Zeiss may be a little sharper at the edge of the field. You cannot go wrong with the Kaibab's. Recommend the Slik Pro 330 DX tripod to put under your Kaibab's. Also do your eyes a favor and purchase a pair of the binocular eye shields that Amanda offers in the CWT Store.

    New skin for the site

I just changed to the IBP Basic. What a great difference for the old guy eyes. I agree with Bill Quimby. Old eyes don't work well with the dark blue. Thanks for the option to change.

    EyeShield for your Binoculars

I just spent 5 days glassing a lot of country for extended periods of time. My new Eye Shields fit the Vortex Kaibab Binoculars perfectly. Previous to installing the Shields I ended the day with eye strain, headache and my contacts felt like cornflakes. No more!!! These things work. Also the image is noticibly more crisp They also fit my Zeiss 10 x 40's. Thanks for offering this product Amanda.

  17. It never stops and it won,t go away. December 10, 2010 Forest Service to Consider Banning Gun Hunting in Parts of Huron-Manistee National Forest (Columbus, OH) - As a result of a recent anti-hunting court ruling, the U.S. Forest Service is starting a formal review of its Management Plan for the Huron-Manistee National Forest to consider banning hunting with firearms in some areas. In September, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Forest Service’s regulations required that it consider banning hunting with guns on lands designated as “semi-primitive.” The Court found that the noise associated with gun hunting could harm the quality of the recreational experience of hikers, backpackers, and cross county skiers. Just as troublesome, the Court ruled that the Forest Service was required to consider closing these areas to gun hunting in places where there is other public, non-Forest land nearby that is open to gun hunting. This could require the Forest Service to close lands currently open for gun hunting when other state or federal hunting lands are opened. The court ruling has prompted the Forest Service to start a formal review of the Huron-Manistee Management Plan. Primarily, the review will focus on whether or not hunting with guns should be banned on the “semi-primitive” areas. Sportsmen will be given opportunities to submit comments to the Forest Service throughout the review process. “This court ruling is a major threat to hunting on these lands and across the country,” said Rob Sexton, USSA vice president for government affairs. “Anti-hunters will likely use this ruling to try and force the Forest Service to ban gun hunting on other Forest lands.” On October 26th, the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance and a coalition of nineteen other leading conservation groups sent a letter to the Forest Service requesting that it rewrite the regulations the Court used to render the anti-hunting decision.

Dewey you are a craftsman. I agree with Bill Quimby's post and suggest that you take him up on his offer. He has credibility in the literary world that will give you a boost if you choose to write about this adventure. My opinion, for what it is worth, is that you can make a major contribution to your people and the preservation of your culture by creating a traditional bow, these arrows and by crafting some stone points. I am impressed that you have discussed this project with your tribal elders. They must be proud that you are interested in preserving the "old ways". Please continue along this path. It will prove invaluable to younger members of your tribe. It is truly sad that so many indigenous traditions, crafts and customs die with the elders. Carry the torch for the next generation and keep your proud heritage alive.

    Rio Salado/Usery range

About shooting more than 200 yards or use the pistol range or the metallic silhouette range at Rio Salado and Ben Avery......you must first join as an annual member, then contact (join) the shooter group that is charge of the particular range segment and then participate in a couple of their matches. Then it is up to the group whether they will allow you to use that range unsupervised and on your own. To me this sounds a lot like some sort of ritual initiation at the local country club. Personally I have zero desire to participate in a match competition of any kind. I enjoy the shooting sports period. The competition side is of no interest to me. I like to enjoy a few hours at the bench punching paper. Why do these facilities advertise that they are open to the public.

    New to muzzleloading

My T/C Triumph Bone Collector has the famous tight T/C bore. I solved the problem completely with Harvester Muzzle Loading's Crush Rib high pressure sabots. They even offer one designed for boat tail bullets like the Barnes. I shoot the Harvester Scorpion PT Gold ballistic tip bullets and Barnes bullets with these sabots on top of B209. Accuracy is excellent, they seal properly and load easily.

    Muzzle Loading Components

Harvester Crush Rib High Pressure 50 cal. Sabots for use with .45 cal. boat tail bullets (Barnes or??). 1 package of 50 sabots. These are the Yellow EZ Load Sabots. $9.00 (They load easier than any I have ever used. Great accuracy) Hodgdon Triple Seven Pellets for in line muzzle loaders. One sealed box of 100 pellets never opened and 1 open box with 30 pellets remaining. $35.00 for both boxes. These are all fresh pellets which I purchased locally withing the last 5 months.
