I've got the G5 sight that has 3 fixed and one floater. I havent had any issues yet. I keep the floater set at 50 but can always adjust to longer range if the need arrises. Good luck finding what works best for you!

I was born and raised in PA and they always take out some big bears...700+. On the other hand there are always way too many under 50lbs. Its pretty sad to see that years cubs brought in to the check station.

T.J McConnel's old man was the head coach at my high school outside of Pittsburgh. I have been watching that kid shoot baskets since he was way too small to drain three's...It's been fun watching him play. I can still hear his dad yelling to this day!

Hoyt Carbon Spyder? Mathews Creed?

Don't sell yourself short. Shoot all of the bows you can, not just the big name big market bows. Try an Elite, they are great bows to shoot. -
I introduced my girls (9 and 6) to Home Alone the other night. I think that they may put me in for "Dad of the Year Award". It was a hit, mildly inappropriate and we all laughed. Good times!!

I used to shoot Gold Tip XT's but I've been shooting Carbon Express Mayhems for a few years now. They are a pretty heavy arrow but they hit critters like a cinder block! I've been very impressed with their toughness as well.

Smoking deal. I just sold mine last month to fund my new set up. I already miss it!

Do you draw straws to see who lets that pissed off ball of fur out?

If you want fixed blades for the fall, try Slick Tricks. They are nasty! I haven't had any issues with them flying different than my field points and they are pretty tough. The picture is an exit wound from a 45 yard shot, buck only made it about 40 before piling up

I'll be in Hancock County the first week of November. I love hunting Illinois, its a blast!!! Best of luck to you!!

I use a thermacell all the time. Hunting for skeeters and at soccer games for those nasty little biting gnats. I hate bug spray and lotions. Thermacell was $20 well worth it!!!

I've been through a bunch of the 45-60 dollar ones and they are junk. A pain to set up and even worse to fold back in to the bag. A few years back I bought the Ameristep Bone Collector and I have been very happy with it. Spend the extra 100 and you'll be very happy. My old man bought a couple of the brick house's and they are good to go. Pretty much the same as the Bone Collector, easy set up/tear down and plenty of room for two people.

How do you guys like the Go Pro's? I've been kicking the idea around for a couple of years now. I like the look of the black edition with the remote. they have an App for it too so you can turn it on remotely and view footage on your smart phone...

Where to start. I love the West and I miss the mountains! It might sound weird coming from a Pittsburgh kid. I love the city and the people but there is something about the West...that being said, there is something about the East as well. I joined the Air Force after high school and my first assignment was Montana and I was in heaven. After Montana it was south to Arizona where I was fortunate enough to become good friends with a guy who has a home in the heart of unit 23. I learned a lot about hunting Coues and Az elk. I was fortunate enough to video my buddy killing a great velvet Coues but never let an arrow fly of my own. I drew 2 elk tags in 3 years, 6A cow and 23 late archery. I then got orders to Virginia, I thought it would be great to move closer to home and back to the East coast....wrong. Don't get me wrong, I stacked whitetails and turkeys up like cord wood, but the people suck and the traffic is a nightmare. Well I just found out that I am heading back to the mountains and critters that I have missed for the past 4 years. As soon as I get home from Afghaniland I am packing the family and heading to Colorado! We are pumped! Except my little one, she doesn't want to move away from her friends, but she's five and she'll get over it! Headed to the Springs, and I can't wait to hit those hills! I have never been in that part of the country and look forward to exploring the aspen ridges and tree line mountains in search of muley's and elk. But I don't even know where to begin. I've been pouring over the game and fish sight but I just seem to get more and more confused each time. Does anyone out there in CW land have any advise for a guy heading into a new state...? Thanks for reading and any advise that might follow. -Adam
