It all started when my little bro drew his first cow elk tag. He is 10 years old and was so excited to go hunting! We got up to camp and started scouting right away! With the cold front that moved in it really got the bulls screaming and moving all day long, we glassed up some great bulls pushing multiple cows. It looked real promising! Opening day came and we found ourselves set up in this meadow listening to the bulls go crazy as the sun rose we decide to start getting closer to the bugles because we know the cows are with em. We work our way up the mountain finding ourselves 60 yds from a cow with her vitals covered up. I get my bro set up on her and tell him to shoot her when she steps out of the brush, well there was a bull to our left that we didnt see and he grunted and the cow bolted with no shot opportunity! We follow them up the hill a little more and bam we see another bull he runs off and we think we got busted again but he was running to FIGHT! We here this CRASH and CRACKING of Bone something we will never forget! We decide not to push em anymore and head out. Friday evening we get on more cows with a huge 370 pushing em and bugling his butt off! It starts snowing at this point and gets the glass on the scope wet and my bro cant pick em up! He was so bummed he couldn't shoot he had tears i told him we will have plenty of chances dont worry! Sat morning was dead so we go glass some power lines and bam got on cows we make our way thru the tree line and run into another herd before we get there, this cow decided to stand there at 50 yds broadside and we get set up and he takes a shot he hits far back and she takes off. We track her for a little bit and bump her up the hill. Well come to find out other hunters were on top and they said they didnt see a wounded cow pass thru and we decide to go back down and search five minutes later BOOM i believe they shot our cow! We searched for hours none the less and nothing! My brother was disappointed and excited at the same time he got to pull the trigger. Sunday morning comes and its our last day in the field he has school so we work our way down to the meadow that we were at on friday and its silent! I put up my glasses and there they are feeding on the tree line. I tell my bro lets get closer and set up well i didnt see this satellite bull bull about 100 yds away and he bolts to the middle of the meadow and screams his head off! The cows start pouring out of the trees going accross the meadow to go up the mountain than you hear another bull right behind em let off too! At this point my bro has the herd cow in his sights just grazing so i range her and tell him 300yds he puts the third dot from my BDC on her and lets it rip! all i see is the herd moving off the other way thru the meadow. I tell my bro lets go we need to get closer as we crest this little hill in the middle of the meadow we watch the herd disappear up the mountain! We were pretty disappointed and than i look to my left and there is the Herd cow twitching a little and he finishes her off! He was shaking so bad when we saw her down i had to calm him down. lol. After inspecting where he shot her it was very clear he placed that 300 yd shot right behind the ear! Congrats little bro and we will get you a monster buck next month on your 42 jr hunt!

IT WAS A 308 IM MOUNTING THIS ONE UP AS A SHOULDER MOUNT PEDISTAL WITH HABITAT! -
My cousin vince and i headed out this morning to do a little coyote calling and we set 3 stands total. After walking a mile and 1/2 and calling our butts off vince spots a coyote in the field to our left and way ahead of us, at this time we are walking along a canal and so we decide to drop off the other side and run a 1/4 mile along the side of the canal so we dont get noticed. As we are making our way to the spot where we think we can pop up and get a shot i see a dog run out in front of us at a 1000 yds+ into a thicket. Well we make our way to the edge of a field next to the thicket and set up my new call (Mighty Atom 21 from Wildlife Technologies) not even 20 seconds go by and we have a dog running straight in on a line! It was awesome! So im sitting there watching this dog run at us at full sprint thru my scope and vince tells me to go ahead and take her whenever so she stops at about 150 yds and looks right at our decoy and as im squeezing the round off he says no no no and i jerk it! Well turns out he saw another dog right beind her coming in also and wanted to wait to get it in closer. So he lets one go at the far dog and misses and i reload he reloads and we relocate the other dog at 350 yds out in a dead sprint for the thickets! We both stand up and fire at the same time vince nailed her in the back leg with his .243 and i nailed her right behind the shoulder with my .308! It was a great day we are headed out again on monday hopefully post more pics! Happy Hunting!
