A guy at work said a store about the size of a Walmart opened up around the Queen Creek area, but forgot the name. Is there a new big box store in that area?

A buddy of mine asked me about a store that just opened up in the Queen Creek arena. He couldn't remember the name if the store just that it look like it could have been a wal-mart. Anyone know what the nane?

4 tags 1 hour 4 Javelina's. This was a specail hunt me becuase I took my niece on her first hunt. Shes been shooting with me since she was 15 and now at the ripe old age of 21 she got to go on her first hunt. She loved every minute of it even though she didn't have a tag. Well that will change soon enough. Also since she was the only one without and blood on her she took all the pictures so there are none of her. Thank you Tracy "The Pig Whisperer" for your advise. HaYen Nephew with 2 pigs. Me with my pig. Hey the nephew is younger This was the oldest of the pigs we shot. Yes he belonged to the nephew Future Chorizo :-) I need to upload some more as soon as I get them.

I'm still waiting for my first cat. While Javelina hunting in 20A, I spooked one but by the time I got my crosshairs on him there was a Nissan Xterra in the barckground. The second one was just this last cow Elk hunt in 7E. I was there to help my partner Steve (RIP buddy). No Elk tag but I did have my license and he had a brand new 7mm-08 I didn't see the cat but my buddy Tom across the way said he came with in 50 yards of us just on the other side of a hill. I probably still would not have taken the shot as it would have scared any Elk out of the area. I'll get em next time. Congrats on your cats I hope you get top dollar.

Not that I want to see you go but I'm more of a glass half full kind of guy. That being said you can hunt that small Sika in Maine (closer than AZ) and "Maine is home to one of the largest of the 30 recognized subspecies of white-tailed deer. After attaining maturity at age five, our bucks can reach record live weights of nearly 400 lbs. Most adult bucks, however will normally range from 200 to 300 lbs live weight, and will stand 36 to 40" at the shoulder. Does are considerably smaller; they normally weigh 120 to 175 lbs live weight. Newborn fawns begin life at 4 to 10 lbs, but grow to approximately 85 lbs live weight in their first 6 months of life." I'm sure Jersey has some big bucks. I did get an email once that listed an article that the Jersey State goverment was asking hunters to help control the number of deer in the area. The catch, no center fire and you had to shoot from a tree stand. I will have to add Jersey to my states to hunt. Good lucj and visti CWT offen.

A family member picked up a used TC with 2 barrels (22-250 and a 30-06). I reloaded for both calibers for two separate hunts. In both cases, the rifle experienced misfires. With the 30-06, he would eject the round and try it again and it would fire. This occurred around every other round. I load my own 30-06 and 22-250 rounds for my two rifles and did not experience and problems. For the 30-06 I used CCI LR primers and for the 22-250 I used CCI Bench Rest primers. I can see the indent where the firing pin struck the primer but it isn't very deep. Is he not getting good enough contact when closing the breech? Any ideas? Thanks BJ

Thanks for the replies. Did some reading on Mikes website and contacted him. Great information and now I have more information to work with on my next box of reloads. Thanks again love this form

Yep Gr8 White Jr Tracy. Val and I got to camp Thursday night. My family called ahead to warn us there was snow on the ground and we should dress accordingly. Friday morning we got up and headed out. Normally we pair up but because this was Javelin and they found a pretty good size herd Thursday we all went together. We got to our spot around 8 AM. Val and I took on side of a ridge while the others were on the other side around 20 yards away. We weren't glassing for more than 10 minutes when cousin Frank called us over. When we got to their side I could see two pigs without my binos. The Leupold RF put the cactus just to the right of them at 308 yards. At that distance and the fact that they didn't know we were there, I wanted to take a prone shot. Before I could get into position, a shot rang out; then another; and another. No joy, so the guys started to move closer. Val and I stayed back to see if there was any movement. She found one but I could get my scope on him from where I was propped up. She and I decided to go find the others. They were over on the next ridge. By the time we made it to the bottom of the cut another shot rang out. This time I heard a pig whaling. "Where is he baby gurl?" "Right there!!!" "Where?!?" I exclaimed. "Right there he's coming down the hill right in front of you?" Bingo while all the other pigs were making a B-line up the hill knuckle head was running down. I didn't have time to get into a prone position so I took my best attempt at an offhand shot. After I squeezed the trigger I again asked "where is he?" Val couldn't see him nor could I. It seemed like forever before she yelled "Right there Right there!!!!" I still couldn't see it. "Right in front of you, you don't need binos!!!" She was getting a little frustrated that uncle BJ couldn’t see it and right fully so, what I thought was a rock was a Javelin looking right in my direction. Again the RF put him at 311 yards. This time impatience got the best of me. I pulled up the 22-250 and jerked the trigger ... wide right by 2 feet. I can't tell how glad I was that I missed that shot and that I only brought 2 rounds with me. One he guys yelled out "you shot him in the neck!" "Uh no I didn't". It appears my first shot was a score. The blood was on his neck but the bullet entered his right eye socket. We didn't see it from where we were at but the the other could see it bloody carcass. AGAIN I AM VERY GLAD MY SECOND SHOT MISSED AND I LEFT THE REST OF MY ROUNDS WITH THE GEAR UP THE HILL. So now the question is do we hike back up the hill, get in the rangers and drive to the other side or hike down and back up the other side? So 4 of us start down the hill while two head back the rangers. Let me tell you, Val was like a kid in a candy store. She didn't want to leave me behind but if I wasn't there she would have ran down that hill. I think she was more worried about me (I fell 3 times down that same hill last year). When we got to the pigs they were within 50 yards of each other, 3 boars and one sow. We decided the three guys were the only ones that needed to get bloody. I had a back pack and my pig. Ryan had the two smallest pigs (that dog can hunt!!) and Tom had his sow and my rifle. Val had a full backpack, a fanny pack (the larger one with two binos, knives, GPS and a few other stuff), and camelback. Before we got to the second ridge, she had relieved Tom of my Savage M12 and started carrying that beast. Oh yeah she can hunt with me anytime. I told her she was getting a tag next year. She has been wanting me to give her that 22-250 (she shoots it more than I do and already calls it her baby) but I may get her own brand new rifle. Her brother (14 y.o.) interestingly enough wants to bow hunt. He isn't too keen on rifles. If his mom lets me, I'll get him enrolled in a hunter safety course and put him in for Javelina and OTC deer next year.. I love that little girl. She has been my shooting partner since she was about 16 y.o. and I'll take her hunting anytime.

Deer Draw: What was everyone's first and second choice?

You've never tried to use your card at the store and had it not go through the first time, even though there was nothing wrong with the card or funds? Then, when the cashier ran it one more time it worked? It happens. Data lines get clogged...connections time out....the process isn't perfect. You are correct. If you overwhelm an issuer, even with a batch file, you can "drop" transactions. Depending on the error from the issuer, some transactions should be resubmitted. "General Error” yes ... "Do Not Honor", "Stolen Card", or "Not Enough Funds" uh nope. Arizona is a state where you cannot charge a credit card until you have received a product or services. That is a correct statement but look at it this way, no matter what EVERYONE pays a processing fee, most of us will be getting refund on most of that amount. I guess my fustration lies more in the process not the wait. Do even get me started on Voter Fraud in AZ grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

G&F Update Regarding Draw Results
HaYen replied to kazpilot25's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
G & F can do a better job. For the folks who use a check or money order, their funds are deposited in the bank. If they don't get drawn, the state has to generate warrants and use postage to get those funds to us unlucky enough to draw a tag. The way they do it now, credit cards aren't authorized until after a person is drawn. This way they only hit those of use lucky enough to draw a tag. But if a credit card is not authorized, now G & F has to "reassign" that tag, and hopefully that card will authorize. The software used to determine draw results should not take longer than a day to run. If it does they have other problems. On a Monday, Jim Paxon and his team puts together a batch credit card authorization file. A file with 150 thousand transactions will take less than 2 hours to process. The response file will state which cards are approved and which aren't. Later that day the authorizations will settle (G & F gets paid). Based on the response file, credit cards that are not authorized the associated applications are rejected. Now take the remaining applications that were approved along with the applications that had checks or money orders and run the draw. By Wednesday, G & F is putting together a refund batch file and posting draw results. Depending on the issuing bank some funds may take longer than others, but most funds should be refunded within 24 to 48 hours. Now I know it is easy being an arm chair quarterback, but credit card processing really is that simple. Yes there is an interchange fee to charge a person’s credit card and a fee to refund, but I guarantee you it’s a lot cheaper than printing and mailing warrants -
They probably took it in house. Here again You take everyone ones payment or credit card information. The lottery draw softweare shold not take more than a day to determine results. Honestly if it takes longer than an hour, I should submit my resume. In that case, bill all of the credit cards through batch processing on a Monday; settlement happens Monday night (G & F is paid); run the lottery applkication on Tuesday (determine whos going hunting), submit batch credits (refunds) to credit cards not drawn on Tuesday. Make a promise to send cut the warrents within a week. There may be excepts to when those funds show back up on your account (depending on the issuing back), but a maority will be back with in 24 hours. So you see, it will never be perfect but there is always a better way ... Mr Paxon

Its simplier than that Coach. When a person sends in a check or money order, those funds are cashed. If you are not drawn, those funds minus the processing fee is retuned via a warrent. There are costs with printing the warrents and mailing them out. G&F now wants to accept credit cards but only bill those individuals who are drawn. There is a cost to bill a credit card (interchange rate). There is a cost to refund (credit) a credit card. But if G&F were to charge all credit cards at the time it desposits the checks and money orders, they are going to have 150,000 trnasactions or money sitting in the bank. The amount of interest they make in the time it takes to make the draw will cover the interchange rate for the initial charge and the credits. I would not charge a additional processing fee to those who use credit cards because then you push folks to use checks and warrents are more expensive to generate and mail than CC credits. You want more folks to use CC's. Just a thought

Unit 9 Turkey. Family got drawn 23 pig. I'll be looking for a left over piggy tag. AND I'm getting a new bow for Christmas. This is turning out to be a better year.

A little boredom and curiosity led me to do a Google site search of forms.coueswhitetail.com/ Spring Results. Going back as far as 2006 it looks like the results are in the 2nd or 3rd week of November. This year they are saying that warrants will be mailed out by Monday Nov. 28, 2011. Results haven't been posted yet; Sunday starts the third week of November; and history has shown: Monday Nov 13th 2006 Tuesday Nov 6th 2007 Monday Nov 10th 2008 Monday Nov 16th 2009 Tuesday Nov 9th 2010 I am sure for G&F every year its a logistics issue, but I'm thinking Monday November 14th 2011. DISCLAIMER: History results are based on the dates someone posted "they're up" or something to that fact.

@Redman - I think you are on to something @Big Tub - History can be a reminder of bad this. I feel ots your time :-) @Rogeti - Hum they took your money before posting the results? Maybe there way of quitely letting some know? Maybe an undocumented feature of the tool (wait thats Microsoft). Maybe their way of pushing folks to use CC's. In either case, just to be fair, mayne in the future they charge the cards after the anouncement.

So last weekend (10/21/2011) I helped my cousin out in 19A on Migus. The first thing I noticed was the low pressure from other hunters. There was deer there as we seen lots of sign and tried to sneak up on a bachelor heard of about 6 head. Here is the thing that confused us and maybe why there was such low pressure, off the 413 road there is a sign "Prescott National Forest" a few feet away is another sign "Private property no hunting". There was yet another sign that said "no hunting or shooting". The United Methodist Church had some kids hiking around. We ended up going down the ridge (southern portion of the 110 trail) into the thick stuff where we knew the kids would not be and the deer might be hiding. I called Game and Fish but as you can image they're pretty busy. I'll follow up with them sometime in the near future as the hunt is already over. Till then ... So can you hunt around the northern part of 110 trail head? HaYen

Went Mule Deer hunting with my cousin and friend Bob. He got first crack at a good size buck. I flanked the herd in case he missed of there was another buck. I heard him squeeze off the first shot. I thought "dang it .. I'll get the next one". Few seconds later I hear him squeeze off a second shot. "Wow he must have winged him with the first shot", I say to myself. "Bang" goes the third shot. "Three shots Bobby? Really? Three?" I yelled (yes yelled) because by then there were no deer for miles around. Well you know what they say about talking stuff about other people? So now its my turn. We came across a herd with few young bucks. They were so close together I didn't want to shoot two so I aimed high to get the bigger one; too high ... miss one. On my second shot, I had a deer in the cross hairs, but I couldn't make out his rack. When he did finally look up, I got so excited at his antlers, I put one right between them .. miss two. Ok its late in the day; losing light and I'm ready for a cup of coffee and a sleeping bag. On the way back to camp we see a herd of does and fawns that we've seen all day at a tank, but this time there's a buck with them. Well I got my deer for the season and it only took me three shots. Moral of the story, don't be talking smack until after you get yours. Da HaYen

I don't own a Knight, but here nothing but good things about them. I shoot a CVA. Muzzle loading is addicting. Well since you asked Have you determined which projectile (type, brand, construction) you want to try first? Every one / rifle has their favorite. Muzzle loading rifles aren't like center fires from the stand point of a .308 is a .308. I've seen .50 cal ML bores run anywhere from .499 to .508. Finding the right combination of Bullet / powder / charge is part of the fun. Under type of projectile you have Conical's and Saboted Bullets. I like them both but prefer conicals bullet-to-bore design. No sabot just makes it one less thing to be concern about. For conicals, I've shot (like / had good results with) Parker Traditional's and Hydro-Cons, No Lead Thor's, and the old stand by's Powerbelts. For Saboted bullets, Parker also puts out a traditional and Hydro-Con, Barnes, Extreme Elite's, Harvester PT Gold's, and T/C Shockwaves. Again I have had really good accuracy results from all of these projectiles. For Sabots, Harvester puts out a line called Crushed Ribbed Sabots. I've gotten easier loading with some of the bullets by using these. Your muzzle loader will tell you which it likes better. For powder. This can be a hotly debated topic in the forms. Some of the newer powders have more energy and keep your bore cleaner for more follow on shots without swabbing the barrel. Most modern muzzle loaders are rated for 150 grs of powder. That figure is based on Black Powder or Black Powder Substitute (BPS), but not all BPS are of equal energy. For example, Pyrodex is defined by Hodgdon's as a "synthetic black". Pyrodex is lighter in weight than blackpowder and weighs only about 70% as much as blackpowder. However, because Pyrodex yields more energy per pound than does blackpowder, the same volume of Pyrodex gives similar performance to blackpowder. Triple Seven and Triple Seven Magnum both are higher energy products. To duplicate a blackpowder load velocity using Triple Seven, you must decrease the powder charge by 15%. Triple Seven Magnum for 50 caliber rifles only comes in 60gr pellets. Do not shoot more than 2 pellets (120grs). Problem with Pure Black and some of the earlier BPS is it fouls your barrel so badly that you won't get more than two shots without swabbing the barrel. Though I think its great that I can shoot 15 rounds with IMR White Hots or Blackhorn 209, in the field how many shots are you going to take on an deer? Of the newer powders that I have tried (American Pioneer Powder Sticks, Black Horn 209, White Hots) each has there goods and bads. APP Sticks gave me hunter accuracy for the most part but every once in awhile I got a flier. The sticks are packaged in a container with Styrofoam pellets. Unfortunately, they still get banged around and loose some powder. If you ever looked at the bottom of the container once all of the pellets have been used you'll see an "amount" of loose powder. I like White Hots. They have given me good energy, consistent performance, clean, easy to ignite; unfortunately, they are pellets so you can tune you load for optimal performance. Enter Blackhorn 209. BH209 by Western Powders is a BPS that starts to encroach on the make up of a smokeless powder. You never want to shoot more than 120 grs of BH209 in any modern muzzle loader unless the manufacture has rated that rifle for more than 150 grs of Black (look up Bad Bull Muzzle loaders). I had two problem's with the powder when it first came out. First, I couldn't get more than 3 loads without having to swab the barrel. Second, after the second shot, I often experienced hang fires. Both of these problems were really due to a badly fouled barrel. After working with Western, I found out that I can't shoot less than 90 grs of powder and I needed to run a hotter primer. Because its so close to smokeless, Western told me to run a hotter primer with the size of the loads. Think of it as running a charge greater than 65 grs in a center fire cartridge, you'll need / want a magnum primer. Because BH209 is a loose powder, one can tune their charge compared to pellets. I have to go. But have fun with your new toy. Post if you have any other questions.
