Dragoons will have more public land ... I've helped by hunting partner tag out twice, I also hunted this unit twice (not successful). Since you're the first hunt in the unit show up a day or two early and scout. Get away from the roads, look at maps and get into some secluded areas...you'll find deer. Oh and glass glass glass go over areas you just looked at .... I drew a Dec tag for this unit ... I haven't hunted this unit for 8 years, can't wait to go.

anywhere in the foothills will have deer....make sure you're shooting the right species in lower elevations. Show up a day early go glass some hills for opening day ... good luck

I havent tried anything, but a friend of mine on hunt couple years ago spraypainted some clothes. close as possible to look like a goat. He did pretty well and got to about 100-150 yards each time, not close enough for an archery shot thou

I've been guilty of this once, we scouted an area couple days before the Oct WT opener. Found a great spot to camp set up our tent and came back 3 days later .... didnt matter anyway we didnt see any other camps in there. Let alone we only saw 2 other hunters the 4 days.

Dragoons will have much more public land ... just limited roads ... do some hiking get away from the crowds and use your glass to breakdown hill sides or in the bottoms...
