thanks guys. ya i am starting to remember (after driving down 366 and 266) that we mainly hunted off south of 266, but to hunt them you gotta get down and work your way in canyons if you didn't spot them feeding. Didn't see any deer on the weekend but put up a camera and hope for the best. We didn't see much track up top of the mountains were it was cool, so got me thinking that there still low. it looked like that it had bunch of rain this summer, everything is green. thanks again guys and hopefully i can post some pictures

ok so a buddy and i got oct. whitetail hunt, but haven't been here for 11 years. I heard that a ranch has sold and some access points have changed. azgfd hunt report gave me little knowledge on some areas. Last time we hunted this area we hunted around fort grant. Been up last couple days looking at maps and google scratching my head. I'm going scouting this weekend putting up couple cams as well. Just seeing if i can get some insight on which would be better to scout desert canyons or up in the pine?? I'm thinking about around turkey flat. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! thank you, 200"mulie

30b has some deer november hunt shouldn't be to bad as long as you find them. thats the key. hunted there 4 years in a row 2003-2007. the dragoons are good just small mountain range and you'll find most of the hunters south of the stronghold. last time i check there is no hunting in the stronghold. where i hunted most of the time is off of middle march road (that come off yale street out of pearce). I've seen 2 bucks come out of there a dinky dude and nice 3x3 both shot by my buddy back to back years. I have also seen one of the largest bucks i'd ever seen in arizona the last year i got a tag in the unit. My advice would be scout off the middlemarch road. And on your hunt i would hike in your camp so you make sure your the first person out in the field to shoot that buck friday mourning. speaking of water holes there's not a lot (where i hunted). but azgfd have put up some catchment things.
-
Or what has hapened to me plenty of times is some other hunters (real loud and careless) walk past you not even notice you and ruins your mourning at least.

1. Nice buck. 2. Never take your eyes off a whitetail, they will disappear. 3. Might not be in the same area during rut, unless plenty of females. 4. Good luck archery hunting that bad boy!

ya they should but pretty much done. on my turkey hunt we saw a bull that already had his second sword. going to be a dam big bull. I'm thinking 400-410" . . . i din't have a camera at the time but will ask my buddy if he got it

found an elk shed in unit one that i would never imagine. i guess the locals are correct some elk stay up the mountains all year long and brave the winter. didn't have the camera handy out in the field when we found em thats how it usually happens

I'm looking on saving some money for an non-resident tag in one of the nearby states for deer. Price is somewhat of an issue but my biggest concern will be privae land. any help would be great (utah, colorado, new mexico, or montana). thanks

They aint gonna be no trial! hang'em high bastards there momma didn't raise'm right. it just kills me that two magnificient animals died for nothing, there bodies left to waste.

supposedly there are turkey all over unit 1 and 27. 1.) Will the turkey still be gobbling? (possibly you never know). 2.) bring a gps just in case you can get lost. 3.) Weather can play a big role in spring hunting. 4.) I might be up there but in unit 1, could meet you in alpine if i don't get my bird this weekend. there is a lot of country back there, i would drive some logging roads. or possibly find some chain meadows they like to be in the meadows in the early mourning and right before they roost. good luck, Andrew aka 200"mulie

WHAT UNIT WAS THAT? I WAS UP IN UNIT 1 SAW A BIT OF TRACK EVERYWHERE WE WENT BUT NOT A LOT OF IT, WE WENT LOWER AND FOUND TONS OF CRAP BUT NOTHING FRESH. LONG STORY SHORT WE DIDNT HEAR A GOBBLE TILL LATE SATURDAY. AND SUNDAY WAS DUMPING SNOW ALL OVER. HE GOBBLED MAYBE THREE TIMES BUT HAD 7 HENS AROUND HIM SO THEY KEPT MOVING AWAY. THEY WERENT TALKING AT ALL BUT MOVING A LOT WE CALLED IN COUPLE HENS FRIDAY MOURNING AS WELL AS MID MOURNING SUNDAY I GUESS WITH BAD WEATHER THEY DON'T TALK AS MUCH . . . . SO ILL BE UP THERE THIS WEEKEND!! BIG LAKE WAS UNACCESABLE AND MY FAVORITE TURKEY SPOT SO THIS WEEKEND IS GOING TO BE GREAT

well back in janurary when i was archery hunting in 37b (close to home) i was watching these doe s (4) make there way down towards a gorge below me. sat there watching them go off in different directions waiting for a buck to chase one of them. thirty minutes go by and now can only see 3, slightly moved around a tree and spotted the forth doe staring at me. I knew i was busted but stood still anyway. the two younger ones were jumpy and started to run away. the (what i'm guessing) the alpha female was the only still left looking in my direction but didn't know what was out there (good camo and shade). so she would pretend she turning and running away. then automatically turn back around run up couple feet and stop . . looking and looking. this went on for next several minutes. untill finally they moved off to the next hill. -
well seeing hunter after hunter after hunter in the area your hunting (which i've come to find out doesn't matter after last season. because on the 2nd day i got up top a hill and saw 4 differnt guys on two hill sides in front of me going away. i turn back and there is a spike and 2x3 that was literally 200 yards from camp and all these fools waked right past em. good times now i shouldn't of passed on him at 100 yards.) wind. heat. illegal trash. and unpacking.

straight from wikipedia-----http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar The jaguar (Panthera onca) is a big cat, a feline in the Panthera genus, and is the only Panthera species found in the Americas. The jaguar is the third-largest feline after the tiger and the lion, and the largest and most powerful feline in the Western Hemisphere. The jaguar's present range extends from Mexico across much of Central America and south to Paraguay and northern Argentina. Apart from a known and possibly breeding population in Arizona (southeast of Tucson), the cat has largely been extirpated from the United States since the early 1900s.
