got me hook, line, and sinker. i thought it would be optics.

cool. i could fly to Hawaii and shoot a goat and a chicken, but would have to pass on the elk in my yard so someone else could shoot them. I can see how economical that would be. Communism's finest hour.

yes. best flying broadhead i've ever used.

i've been focusing on hunting an area of about 20 acres these last few years. There's been some heart breaks, and some minor successes as well. I didn't get a chance to hunt much during august, but i sat my stand a few times. Well, i finally found what i believe to be the "perfect" tree for hunting this area. It's in a bedding area, 500 yards from water, and is adjacent to some good grazing. so this january has found me with an unfilled 2013 tag in my pocket, and my schedule pretty filled. I didn't know if i'd make it out or not. I'd been shooting my bow just in case things fell into place. Last night i got things ready to go. Truck loaded, backpack filled, bow on the money, clothes washed. Ready. Now it was up to me. I'd been sick for a week. But i decided i'd have to try. I didn't get up early at all. Just wasn't feeling up to it. But most of the deer i'd seen up there move around 9 oclock. So i thought if i could get in the stand before that, i'd be ok. I'd seen a true Booner mule deer, a rarity in this unit, but this morning i wanted to set my sites on a whitetail. Wasn't sure i was physically up for a spot and stalk in the desert. Plus i knew getting this big boy on the ground is a long shot. So i headed for my go-to whitetail spot. No sooner was i in the stand when i saw a doe 97 yards away. She didn't seem too alarmed at my presence. Not sure if she saw me. But my bow was still on the ground. So i immediately pulled my gear up the rope. I nocked one, and looked closely. Now it was 2 deer. Apparantly a buck as well, because they were going at it. But it could't make out his headgear. Well, when they were through, she walked dead away and he took a hard right. Wasn't sure they would head my way or not, but it wasn't looking hopeful. I bowed my head and prayed to God that he would turn that buck around. Well, God had grace because a few minutes later here they came. The doe winded me at 23 yards with the buck right behind her. She couldn't find me, but he was going to use this opportunity to climb aboard. Well, she was as nervous as a chicken in a fox farm and trotted right under my stand, leaving her long lost lover bewildered with rejection. Obviously discouraged, he quartered away and began to walk. I bleated with my mouth, and he stopped. I held for 25 and let her fly. I love the sound of a broadhead in the vitals. It sounds like "schwick" and that's exactly what i heard. He stood there for a second, his broken heart now of no importance compared to his punctured lung, which was hanging out the exit hole. The Ulmer edge had done its damage. He was pushing daisies in a mere 15 feet. Looks like i'll be adding a bonus point to my strip tag endeavors this year.

i was thinking it was the marcus lutrell story. i almost never watch movies (can't stand to see the hollywood libtards make even 1 buck off me) , but i may have to check this one out.

if you're raising kids, the price of tags are out of sight. taxes, gas, food, diapers, clothes, house, cars, etc...money is definitely tight. I would think those supporting this are single, or at least aren't raising kids. if it wasn't such a financial difficulty, i wouldn't complain about it. But for me, it's becoming nearly unaffordable.

Yeah, our new rates are totally fair. I did the math. On the application fee increase alone only counting the "main" draws they are gaining 6.5 million dollars. I suppose those of you who happily support this are just hoping the poor, less dedicated, and non-residents stop applying for your tags and increase your odds. what i find amazing is the amount of people on here who are justifying what g&f is charging.

i think g&f prices are retardiculous.

found this crawling under my deer's skin. anybody know what it is?

How many animals have you harvested in Arizona
bojangles replied to Seldom Drawn's topic in The Campfire
3 elk, 4 deer, (1 muley and 3 whitey's), and 1 turkey. some of you guys kill it! congrats! I think arizona is one of the most difficult states to fill a tag in, if not the most difficult. -
thanks for the replies. i was wondering about the botfly because these things were way back at the end of the rib cage.

cool beans. i rafted down the zambezi but never got a chance to fish. the number of crocs and hippos in that water is unnerving.
-
wow! spot and stalk with a longbow at 32 yards is sayin' something...
-
oh, it's easy to find the spot. just look for the mountain that's shaped like an ice cube!!
-
congrats!
-
cool beans. i was hoping you'd do a write up.

got the adapter! thanks a million!

or, if you're one of my hunting buddies, you could have drawn that tag on no points whatsoever. i have 2 friends with late 22 this year, one drew it on 1 point and the other with none. me? i had a nice bonus point burger for dinner. with a side of tag soup.

Auditor says AZ Game and Fish wasted $1 million
bojangles replied to AZLance's topic in The Campfire
lol, don't take me too seriously, but still i see fish and game dudes driving the most luxurious trucks on the road, while fees go up again....i'm thinking... you have got to be kidding me! I'm not saying G&F is a corrupted organization on all levels, but i've seen some things in my lifetime that just make you go...hmmmmm. yes, i do think g&f should be all volunteer, and under the authority of the county sheriff's office, kind of like some search and rescue depts. nobody should make money off of hunting, imho. the best things in life should always be free. you know how many friends i have that would love to put in for elk but just can't afford a tag? a bunch. it's a shame, really. Felt the need to chime in. While the opinions and frustrations being discussed here are respected, this logic is a little bit twisted and seems to be "misinformed". I'm hoping you are just somewhat jokingly ranting... I hope you understand that there is a little bit more to the Game and fish dept. than writing tickets and sending you a deer tag in the mail... Things such as conservation, management, research.... A department as large as this, dealing with so many various species and systems could not be effectively run by volunteers and unfortunately I have a feeling that the county sherrifs office managing our state's wildlife would not bring your dream of 6 deer tags per year to fruition. Well maybe 6 tags but at that rate there wouldn't be 6 deer in the state to shoot. While i do agree there could be things done differently... As in any form of state or federaly funded agency, what you seem to think would solve the "problem" would most certainly do the opposite. Then again, maybe if sherrif arpayo took over the G&F we would start seeing 220 inch mule deer in pink undies in every unit in the state... At $10 a tag... limit of 4 per year... Yeah, actually i think we may have something here! LOL again, friendly chatter and just my .02 hey, if those bucks were in pink undies, maybe i could find one!!! lol....arpayo for commisioner!! really, though, i'm not looking for 6 deer tags per year here. i'm quite content with the draw system. maybe it could be tuned up, but i'm pretty happy with what i'm getting. I do believe that certain hunts have far too many tags, once again, we're looking at a money making organization, that is looking more at the bottom line than at conservation itself. But if none of the employees got a paycheck out of the deal.....we might have true conservation. i digress, however, about the volunteer force. i think they would manage better. i just think the law enforcement side of things would be better served under the authority of the sheriff's dept for constitutional reason. checks and balances for warrants, searches and seizures, etc. i'm not saying we should throw biology in the dump and give out free tags at all. i'm saying we should be served, not taxed, through hunting. for instance, i'm paying for a sticker on the back of my fourwheeler to improve riding...um.....i don't see any improvements, just a bunch of roads closed. while that can be good and bad....i'm just saying we've been taxed w/out being served. like i said before, i know there are some great g&f people out there who probably work a long hard day and earn their bacon just like the rest of us. i mean no disrespect to them whatsoever, and applaud their hard working efforts to keep things civilized and in order. what's more, every position couldn't be volunteer obviously. People who work in offices, work in the field, etc should be paid, of course. But the decision makers, and board members, etc should be volunteer only, elected officials. And elected by those who have recently filled big game tags. -
nice!!

i tell you what, if you're gonna hunt back east, these boots are a must have. my nephew was out of town working when i was back east, so I "borrowed" ..lol...these boots from him. best ever for warm and dry on a ground blind hunt in wet areas. unfortunately, i could fit both my feet in one of these size 13 boots...almost.
