i have the same quad. i think those things could survive a nucleur holocaust. that's one tough piece of machinery.

i've never been one to seal the deal on a big buck. seems the fever overtakes me, or some odd equipment failure, or something always happens in the moment of truth. So i've been shooting under stress lately to help combat this. I'll shoot my bow, 5 shots, then do 40 or 50 lunges with dumbells in each hand, then immediately grab my bow and shoot 5 more shots, then grab those dumbells and rip off 40 to 50 more lunges, then do the 5 shot routine. i do it till i drop. it seems to help. anyone else have a training regimine/secret they'd like to share?

i ride a scott SUB for a road bike, it's a road bike that sits you up straight in the saddle, and not hunched over like a normal road bike. i lined the tires with thorn strips, and if you're in snowflake you'll want to do the same. i have a full suspension khs mountain bike. it doesn't get used as much as it should. it's hard to find time with kids and all. but now and then i take it out. riding from snowflake to showlow and back would be a great training ride. there some good rolling hills in there to mix it up, but not too difficult.

i wish they let you hunt there. it would be crazy.

oh yeah, and logging. that's a federal issue that would really open up good grazing for critters and provide jobs and industry and boost the economy. oh wait, never mind, we couldn't have that.

i'll keep it simple in bullet points -leghold trap reinstatement is an absolute must if we are to see deer numbers increase/stabilize. -you (yes you) must kill coyotes. -we must think of a way for g&f to make money other than selling tags. If i were in charge of that operation, i'll bet i could turn it into a financially profitable institution in a year, and cut tag prices and reduce tags to improve hunt quality. There are many, many ways for G&F to make money other than tag sales. They are gonna have to get creative. Tag sales should be the smallest ingredient in their revenue pie, not the greatest. No one wants white collar hunting, except the richy riches who posted above. I don't know where you guys are hunting, but i still see a fair amount of game when i hunt. But i think there could be a few more critters out there, a really good drought and we could be in trouble, no use dancing on the fence. -reduce the grey wolf to a cameo herd that is highly regulated, much like the buffalo. -open more roads. this will lead to dispersion of hunters, rather than the current concentration of hunters, and will lead to fewer "hunted out" areas. -sue the pants off the sierra club. find something, and sue them for it. sue the government. it's not illegal to sue fish and game, as bad as that seems, to reduce their bending to left wing radicals. (no harm done to g&f, just make them do what is best for wildlife and hunters) that said, i'm not against fish and game at all, but sometimes you have to get down and dirty to get your way. sue the feds. sue the blm. sue the state. it's the 21st century tantrum that gets you your way. if nothing else, tie them up in court to keep the crazies from advancing. i really don't want to sound vindictive here, sometimes you just have to make things happen. -but i think the real key is getting someone at G&F behind the wheel who knows how to make money and knows how to manage wildlife with out selling the critters down the tube. just my humble opinion. wish i could be more involved, but i have kids to feed. i'll do what i can.

i have a winchester model 1400 markII for trade. i'd like to trade it for a pump shotgun like a remmy 870 or something. it's a 12 gauge autoloader. the furniture is pretty beat up. the gun needs cleaned. that's the reason why i'm trading it. a friend attempted to show me how it clean it, and autos are too complicated for me. i told him to put it back together because i was going to get rid of it. so maybe you have the time and patience to and knowledge to clean an older auto shotgun. it's a pleasure to carry in the field on any dove or quail hunt. it swings well and operates smoothly (when cleaned!) let me know if this is something you may be looking for.

i have found that areas that traditionally hold mule deer seem to have deer in them consitently. however, i've found that muley's roam a bit as well. deer may be in canyon "a" today, and will disapear to ridge "b" tomorrow. just my experience.

herein lies the problem with the no baithing law. all i have to do to get you out of yuor spot and off my buck is pile corn/apples, etc under your stand and call fish and game. you show up, you get busted.

there's money to be made in the cell tower industry. my best bud, who is my age, started a cell tower construction/ maintenance company 2 years ago, and just sold out to a larger company. me made bank, and still manages the company.
