What’s your favorite pair of boots and why? These are my redwing iron rangers. I love the versatility. I've worn them cutting firewood, packing elk, business meetings, church, and sales presentations. They are looking a little rough these days, but regular saddle soap and oil keeps them going. Handmade in the USA. A few cons, they have a cork dress sole, so they aren't that comfortable for the long haul. I had to put cushion insoles in them for comfort. The dress outsole is great for working in customers homes, they don't track mud or rocks. But when i get them re-soled, i will go with a softer gum sole for more traction and comfort. Nothing relieves stress like a stout cup of coffee and a can of boot oil, and a good boot cleaning session.

was hoping to get some good reviews on different boots like white's, nick's, danners, crispi, kennetrek, vasque, etc. both for daily wear and hunting. Right now i hunt in some old Danner Pronghorns, but won't be buying the new pair, as it looks like the quality has fallen off. I'll be shopping for my next pair soon.

Went to glass for deer this morning before work and was surprised to see a bull chasing cows and screaming his head off. The elk were just going nuts. Unit 22

interesting, definitely gives food for thought. -
yeah, just looking at the 608, it doesn't look like a good candidate for a re-sole. i agree to just buy new if i wore that boot.

Is get nervous about dumping gas and oil on usfs property. Especially if cameras are nearby. I might miss a squirrel 10 or 20 times that was sitting on his trail cam. -
My brother just got a job in Medford, Oregon. So he was telling me that the fishing there is good. Has anybody had any experience on the Rogue for salmon and steelhead? Should i hire a guide or do it myself? I'm new to salmon fishing, but i see this as an opportunity. thx!

+1000 why is it the fed has more say over local land than the county does? I’m all for wilderness, but at the decision of the locals.

Arizona? Never heard of it. thought this was southeast California. Can’t trap, can’t bow hunt near houses, can barely hunt cats, that will soon do away. on topic, from time to time I listen to Bryan Call or Aron Snyder. I’m not religious about them. I remember this one time where Aron Snyder talked about a guy who broke up with his girlfriend (who knew his best hunting spots.)The next season she brought her new boyfriend into his favorite hunting spots and he killed a big buck right front out from underneath him. I always keep a good area in that hat to take the newbies to. But the best spots, are mine.

You just gotta start hunting closer to the roads. That’s where all the big boys are. Wilderness is getting crowded these days with all these podcasts and such.

Going where the hunting isn't as good just for the sake of saying you're in the wilderness doesn't mean you're more of a hunter than a guy that hunts where the game is Going where the hunting isn't as good just for the sake of saying you're in the wilderness doesn't mean you're more of a hunter than a guy that hunts where the game is absolute truth.

For some, yes. For others its about food on the table. Theres no wrong way to eat an elk roast. Urban hunts enhance your wilderness experience. All the meat hunters will be in the green belts.

When i showed up to our regional meeting and argued about this, i was told that our "demographic" was changing and we needed to be mindful and respectful of people who don' like hunting, and that was the reason for this ruling. I was also told that people were shooting deer in pine and prescott from the road in other peoples yards (which is already illegal) and this also contributed to the law. This is pure foolishness. Our mountain towns are so congested with wildlife it's ridiculous. Most states have an urban hunting program of some sort, yet our commissioners, are playing for the raw vegans more and more often. Arizona needs urban hunting like no other right now. Elk are in my yard nearly every night tearing things up, and we live in an area that 30 years ago didn't have elk. When i spoke to one field officer, he complained of having to chase down trespassers who were hunting on private property and liked the law. In essence, he was complaining that he had to work when he got to work. Trespassing is already illegal, i don't think the 1/4 mile rule is going to stop drunk phoenix college kids from shooting deer in people's yards in pine. It's already illegal. And to hear a g&f officer gripe about having to cite them. What did he sign up for? to sit in his truck and drink starbucks and listen to keke all day? get ready for more fun stuff like this.

I had lunch there after riding my bicycle last spring. Beautiful area. Every vehicle was an Escalade with Texas plates. Lots of good places to eat.
