To Fragment, or not to Fragment..

I don’t know about picking up radio stations but years ago I was implementing an ultrasonic welding process for a medical product. An associate complained that every time we actuated the machine her teeth hurt from some metal in her mouth. Well being engineers and all we ran a controlled blind study....and she correctly identified machine actuation 100% of the time. So maybe I’m not ruling out radio stations either? I have many guns that shoots monos well under moa. Depending on the cartridge they would give me a practical range of 600-850 yards. We’ve had great performance with Barnes LRX down to about 2000fps. Never shot anything with less velocity. Although I shoot long range I really don’t hunt long range by today’s standards so the Barnes work for me. Having said that I usually sight my STW with ABLR (it shoots them well) and have a few in my pack just in case... -
Nice. Are you annealing with that burner? im definitely missing the pipe wrench in my room.

I went back to a recurve in 1989. I shoot a hybrid long bow now.

What's with the traditional arrows in yoiu Avatar?

I shoulda taken before and after pictures. This is my bench since 1982. It was gifted to a new reloader .

From InLine Fabrication. It’s removable so I can take the RC off and put the Dillon on I’m impressed (no pun) so far https://inlinefabrication.com/collections/quick-change-press-mounting-system

I really hope a Democrat doesn’t get elected. I can’t afford their firearm stimulus programs. -
I was fortunate to be able to help Cuco Del Cid of Rancho.Bonito.Trophy.Hunts in Sonora last week. Dr Michael Sisk killed a great buck. Only 15-4” of main beam and 12-2” inside spread, but 32-5” of mass. IMG_8355.MOV IMG_8664.MOV

Ruffs in Flagstaff.

He scores about 113”. There is probably over 10” missing with the broken eye guard and 2 Broken in lines. If unbroken he would be in the 120s easy. BTW those bucks you killed are amazing. Congrats.

I just bought a leupold 5-25x mark 5HD. I havnt mounted it yet but it sure seems impressive. I might have to upgrade my VX5s and VX6s.

According to Swarovski the 25-50 eyepiece has a larger FOVat 25x than the BTX/85 combo (although 30x). the people I know who prefer the twin spotting scopes tell me it’s because of the brightness and the ability to zoom. Jason in Tucson has apparently solved the collimation issues with his mount. I’ve seen his bracket and it looks top notch. The IPD issue is why I haven’t looked through a set...

I’ll have to redo the math. I agree it needs at least the 85. Remember the 85 is 30x and the 95 is 35x so the exit pupils are similar. I really can’t tell the difference in light performance between the 85 and 95. I prefer the 85 for balance and weight. I like the BTX system enough I’m not interested in the dual spotting scope set up. A good friend took delivery of two Swaro STS 65 HDs with 25-50 eyepieces today for a big eye set up. I might change my mind IF I look through them.

I have several friends who use to have the Razor 85. They all have Swaros now.
-
If you do the math the Swaro 95 is about the equivalent of around a 60mm for light gathering after the split. Field experience suggest this is about right.

When loaded to factory coal there is about a .5 gr difference in volume between the CM and 260 rem with a 140 gr bullet according to Nosler load data. How the heck are you getting an extra 150fps? Theoretically you would need about a 15 gr different to get that much extra velocity.
-
The 260 rem and the 6.5 creedmore have nearly identical case capacity. It might be easier to find a good CM load and go from there. I’ll bet 40-42 grains of H4350 or IMR 4451 would work well with any of your bullets.

This is from a 6.5x55 with 127gr Barnes LRX at 225 yards. MV 3025 fps. Impact velocity 2650 fps. This has been a the normal experience I’ve had from Barnes. Every thing from the original to the TSX, TTSX, and LRX. A rib was hit on entry and exited after almost 3”. We’ve also driven 120gr 7mm TTSX through a cow elk femur and found it in the neck. The LRX/TTSX is my goto bullet just in front of the Accubond. Yes I know they might be a little short on BC but most are good out to 750-900 yards. Or further than I prefer to shoot. BTW: I think Nukka the Goldendoodle was a good decoy!

Worried about Barnes expansion...

The gun is a Forbes 24B with an extremely long freebore. It really only shoots done bullet well but it shoots it really well. We’ve kill a couple of bulls with the 127’s and a Creed the last couple of years. Also a couple of bulls with the LRX 129 gr .277. -
I don't think that is a head space issue? did you read my quote for Layne? He doesn't seem to think they are a pain.

Are you saying after firing this round it would not rechamber in the same gun? Or were there other steps in between?
