It comes in waves, some areas produce when other are swathed in young bucks, Genetics are there if you look in the right place, I know I saW good bucks and saw some younger ones that I knew were descenddants of those big bucks
Here are some pics from my latest cam deployment. Many more but will hold them till after my hunt.
I went on a bivouac last night and this morning I found my two main targets seeing them in person for the first time. I have reason to be excited!
Yeah I will be in the deep stuff with my brother and two sons. I have been talking to any and all Border Patrol people for intelligence and I try to keep high numbers on our hunts so we keep the "bandits" away from our hunting adventures. I even call the border dispatcher when I will be in the rocks overnight so they dont get nosey wondering what I am doing out there. They tell me to report whatever I see and it has worked out for me.
Good luck to all you other hunters! Be Safe! Use technology to your advantage.
This is the second time I have got this lion, the last was in the spring and appears to be the same one. Its on a saddle that is well used although I did put down some black magic in the spring and the deer hit it pretty hard during the summer.
I have made 3 different set ups and have yet to find a decent attractant that will stop an animal like a deer in the mountains.
I have used apples and a fox ate them the first night, Deer cocane (Mineral Lick) but no real effect. Mollasses and nothing found it.
All of my pictures have been drive by's but Im not stopping the animals like I thought?
What is the time intervals between pictures on this camera. I have a moultrie I35 that has one minute intervals and it does not compare to the 10 second interval that Primos I35 has.
Oaks have burned down and these areas look like moonscapes where there was once oak forest, There is alot of erosion in some of the steep mountain faces. The area with mesquite seemed to have fared better as the grass is very tall and weeds have moved in, so prepare for that.
Google Earth shows alot of ash as that photo is from June but the grass has since recovered. You can really see the game trails with the grass gone and you can also see the alien trails beaten down to dirt. Alot of water has the ash soot in it as my dog went in a pool and came out with a tint of black.
Good hunting!
Love to see all the real thick horns, I had to show my personal best as I did it with my brothers and I still love looking up on the wall and smile.
His G3 is broken off which would have made him a 4X4, He is from 36B, unofficial score with me doing it for the first time by instructions was 112 counting the broken horn
