Operation Bear Bones
WHT_MTNMAN replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
There are quite a few "strays" that run the rim road from Show Low to Forest lakes. Mostly Reservation ponies. I know that sometimes if the prosecutors don't have much evidence against an individual they will offer small fines etc...in return for information. I bet that is what happened on some of the individuals. -
Man what a year in Mexico...nice job and thanks for sharing.

Is this carp real.
WHT_MTNMAN replied to bobbyo's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
If I remember correctly this guy did other animals and was not trying to pass them off as real and yeah i think they are a woodcarving. -
I Know It is only a Carp But .....
WHT_MTNMAN replied to bobbyo's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
It's a term coues snobs use to downgrade the beauty of a mule deer. I think they have antler envy Its because Mule deer are bottom dwellers and look how ugly that thing...sure those antlers are freaking awesome, but look at the rest. Bobbyo what a great buck congrats. -
What a great buck, congrats to your wife Josh. I'm glad you all got it done, good luck finishing your hunt.

This one burns me...I had a dec. tag 4 years ago, never saw another rifle or bow hunter except on roads. So what if both parties were looking at one group of deer, it happens all the time on public land, move on it will happen again. What next..only one tag per unit for dec. hunts so that they can have it all to themselves. Last year I was helping a guy on an elk hunt, we started in on a great bull i had seen (gross 406) when one of the auction hunters and guide showed up carrying a gun, yep they killed it..sure it sucked, but I hunt for alot more reasons than to have quarrels over areas or fight over animals. I prefer to not see one person and see only a handful of animals than see lots of game and have to worry about other hunters. Not to be personal Mr. Smith but I hate people getting upset because someone else is in the woods. Houston

Who doesn't wear camo when rifle hunting?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to ElSavior's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I like Jade, sometimes wear it because I can. I usually don't wear camo pants though, can't get any I really like. This year I archery hunted alot out of solid black shirt (underarmour) and had no problem getting within 25 yards of deer. I don't think it matters too much, stay in shadows and move slow. -
What an awesome bear... that bear is a stud.
-
Beautiful bull and a huge congrats on some great pictures and doing your homework. At least the auction hunter didn't shoot him.
-

How to keep eyepiece covers on Swarv 15x56s?
WHT_MTNMAN replied to Billinsd's topic in Optics and tripods
I have a piece of sting I tied them on with, so I won't lose them. Often times I want to put the eye covers on while I'm taking a quick rest during the day and don't want to take them off the tripod and put them away but I still want to keep sun and dust off of the lens. -
What a gorgeous buck. Nice job

Dove hunt turns into archery deer hunt!
WHT_MTNMAN replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Tell your buddy congrats.. BTW doesn't everyone take everything Eastmans say to heart. To take pictures you put the animal in a natural position. I haven't seen too many deer running around with tags around the antlers. -
Nice job Jason, some great pics and memories... I wish I could make your stone hunt, but I will have student loans to last a few more years... Dall is my most important of the slam... I'm jealous nice job. Sorry to hear about Greg Houston
