    Draw Results

Got hit for 760 this morning... WOW been a long time coming. Either 15, 16a or 36 archery.
  2. Since I moved to Payson I've meet a few of the members from this area and thought it would be nice to get together will some of you. I was thinking a quick lunch during the week or something informal to get a few more names and faces known. Thursday or Friday lunch would be best for me, trying to work around shed hunting, scouts, baseball games for the boys, dance for the girl etc is difficult to find time other than during the week. If anyone is interested let me know. Houston Davis

    HUGE OLD SHED

I normally don't post pictures from other people, but I asked my buddy if I could post this shed because it is a stud. He found it a few weeks ago and hasn't scored it yet. The second picture is next to a 117 inch skull.

How do you scout for elk??

In actuallity I usually scout while I'm helping out on hunts in previous years. Since I've had only one archery bull tag in 12 years, if I waited until I had a tag I would never have gotten out. If I had a tag this year, I would know which areas I would concentrate and then as stated before about 2 weeks before season start hitting it hard. During the summer I would do as you have planned, start setting up cameras and sometimes you will get lucky, some bulls will rut close to their summer stomping plans, most will travel long distances but some are homebodies. (relatively speaking) Jade if I ever use a plane to scout you can shoot me.

    Contest Question?

Conor- I think because he is from Lakeside he probably is on a fire dept up there. Why don't you post a pic and story of the lion you glassed up and killed this year, pretty cool and rare. You accomplished in your young age something that 90% of us will never make happen. Nice job. I think it is very tough to compare, I think if you spot and stalk getting a 85 incher is like shooting a 220+ carp. At least mine felt like that. Probably 100 inches is pretty close, maybe a bit less. EDIT>>> I just found your post on that lion...congrats again.. I didn't know you posted that.. SWEET

    Broadheads for elk?

I've shot alot of heads and really like the G5 Striker, very sharp and extremely tough. Get something that flies true out your bow. Make sure you broadhead tune, then most any head will fly good.
